The Turnigy TrackStar 120A Short Course ESC is the latest addition to our TrackStar ESC range. It's optimized for use with 4 pole motors which are becoming quite popular in the Short Course truck class, but of course works well with any sensorless brushless car motor.

Using a Fast Silicon Labs MCU and high quality On-Semiconductor MOSFETs the TrackStar 120A SC ESC sets a new standard in high quality yet affordable car ESCs. With Intelligent MCU logic the TrackStar series ESCs allow extremely precise start up control and positioning feedback from the motor. This translates into very smooth start up and acceleration.

The Turnigy TrackStar 120A SC ESC also boasts a host of programming options not usually found in an ESC at this price and can be programmed with ease via the Turnigy TrackStar programming card (sold separately). The Turnigy TrackStar 120A SC ESC also includes 3 x 12AWG motor wires and 2 x 12AWG power input wires.

I would recommend using the 2.06 version of the USB program. It is easier to use. the only gripe i have is that it does not support boost mode and the turbo mode does not work at all. It makes the motor jump for a split second then do nothing. If you use it for just blinky like me its fine. Will probable upgrade to a RX8 someday. Great beginner esc.

Thought I would try this in one of my RC's. Nothing but trouble with this esc. Goes WOT when it wants to causing more damage than I would have spent on a high end esc. Usb programming is always a pain with it. Sometimes refuses to move... I could go on.

Excellent esc, smooth, responsive and this esc has a8.5 brushless motor, and when I finish with my race, this esc is still cool, and some of the more expensive one's are blowing heat offof them! Very impressed!

This esc would be perfect for an 1/8 scale 2wd running a 3 or 4 cell lipo. Does not start up a 1/10 scale 17.5 2wd sct on 2 cell. Also won't fit in a 1/10 scalemid motor buggy. oncertainly you have vehicle rolling it has great punch and power.

I have to admit I was a little hesitant to order a HK ESC, however I have been pleasantly surprised. I would say that my Turnigy SCT 2WD seems faster running this vs my Airtronics Super Vortex Zero which died. I am certainly happy with it and it is a blast running the truck on 3s on occasion. Running a Tekin 17.5t Redline motor which is sufficient however I do experience minor cogging at low speeds from time to time.
Can't leave 5 Crowns for quality because it's brand new but if it lasts the test of time 5 Crowns is definitely warranted.
The biggest drawback is the Program Box is not available in the US. I ordered it from the Global Warehouse and while it will program the ESC and it does nicely with plenty of programming features to adjust what I wanted it WILL NOT connect to my PC which is running Windows 10 or in compatibility mode of any older OS. That is very disappointing as I much prefer to program from the PC like my Tekin's and Mamba Max Pro.
I don't race, don't advance timing or anything of that nature so I'm of no help there but I would recommend this ESC as a mid budget ESC for sensored motors. I don't run sensorless so can't help you there either.

Not dissapointing at all. For the cost its worth every cent. Gone thur 3 packs and motor(10.5T trackstar) was cooler then a 8.5t hobbywind xerun combo. Not to mention the power it had. Just wonderful. Using it in a hpi ese blitz with a 48t spur and 17t pinon and still had lost of power to spare. Just a glitch early on, mostly probably due to the charging of the capacitors. But else was smooth sailing. Just hope the instructions were more detailed.

Very good esc. I pair it with TrackStar 540 4-pole 4250kv motor and they give my SCT plenty of power. Very smooth both low and high speed. I waterproof both with varnish and I can dive my SCT into water without problem. I currently tested it up to 80km and planned to test it >100km with a higher pinion gear. The only area to be careful - the plastic is a bit week and must be careful when you do maintenance especially when you screw. 100pcnt recommended.

Not to happy with this ESC I bought this along with the 4.5 turn track star 4x4 motor and have had nothing but overheating problems since I Got it I run a losi scte w/mip upgraded chassie the book calls fo a 14 tooth pinion. I cant even run a 12 tooth with out over heating it wont take an 11 tooth. it has the stock spur gear on it and yes every thing in the truck is rotating fine no binding what so ever. should have bought another tekin guess this is what I get for buying cheap motors and ESC's you get what you pay for.
There is also no timming put in the motor at all. took out all the drag brake hoping this would help. Guess what still over heating on a 8 min. main 200 degrees coming off the track I am only running 85pcnt on my controller also. I will not run this set up again till hobby king figures out whats going on guess I am out 130.00 Bucks

I have tried now with the programming unit to fix the starting issue. It sputters the motor and will not move with a load on the motor. If I pick up the car, it will spin the motor. This is using a nanotech 2cell lipo saddle pack. I resoldered all the connections, adjusted the sensor on the motor, cleaned all the cables and contacts, adjusted the gear mesh from motor to spur, calibrated the esc, adjusted all the endpoints and centers on my transmitter, nothing worked to fix the sputtering and not moving from a stop. I plugged a 3 cell in and did not have this problem. The 3 cell does not fit in my vehicle and is not allowed for racing. I plan to either buy a new controller or send this back.

I put this in my DESC410 SCT with the Trackstar SCT 5.5T motor. It comes stock with forward and brake only. Calibration takes a few tries for it to stick. I have problems with the motor starting from a stop. It will shake a bit and not make a full rotation. The fan works most of the time but will stop when the unit is rotated, probably due to gyroscopic effects and bad bearings. I will have to cut the fan housing off to upgrade it because I don't want to re-solder all the wires. The fan mount also keeps the 2 piece cover together. I have ordered the programming unit but it is only in the int. warehouse so don't have it yet.
