The sky’s the limit when you use the FrSky Horus X12S radio system. This outstanding 16 channel system (upgradable to 32 channel) is built to make you the God of the Sky, just like the Egyptian God Horus. It comes with FrSky’s well-known frequency hopping ACCST technology, that takes advantage of the entire 2.4GHz band, resulting in excellent range and reliability.

This exciting system has lots great features. To start with there is a color, high-resolution TFT screen that is just as easy to see outdoor as it is indoors. The sticks not only give responsive feel but the gimbal is made from milled CNC aluminum which is equipped with six ball bearings for precision and durability. Coupled with Hall effect angle sensors you can tell this is a superior mechanism. Just tilt the transmitter to facilitate auxiliary control as there is a built-in 6-axis sensor (3-axis gyro and 3-axis accelerator). There are multiple switches, knobs, and sliders than can be programmed to fit all your requirements. An excellent feature is a cover for the power switch to stop those inadvertent power offs if you bump the wrong switch.

The Horus utilizes Voice Alerts from internal stereo speakers or headphone jack, versus just an annoying beeper. For things like; audible count down timers, low voltage warnings, landing gear down warnings etc., Just about anything can be programmed, you can even use your own voice. To enhance this there is haptic feedback to notify you by vibrating the transmitter when needed. The SD card slot offers unlimited memory options and a USB port for upgrades. There is even an internal MP3 player that can play files directly from an SD card.

One of the best features of the Horus is its full telemetry capability, as well as RSSI signal strength feedback, there are 3 different programmable failsafe modes and receiver lock, so no more crashes due to selecting the wrong model. If you have stock in other brand receivers or B&F’s, no worries the Horus has a JR style RF module slot, so you have the option of other brand modules such as the Orange DSM2/DSMX or Open LRS 433mhz module, or pop in another Frsky module to expand the transmitters capabilities even more with dual RF. An inbuilt GPS module helps your model know where you are at all times, making it easier to return to you.

Training just became a whole lot easier as the Horus comes with a wireless trainer system. With two Horus transmitters up to 8 channels can be shared wirelessly between them making training a breeze. If your buddy is using another type of transmitter then there are two different cable options that can be used, Taranis/Futaba style and Graupner DSC style.

Greg French (owner of Fatshark FPV) used the 2016 US Drone Racing Nationals to unveil his newest offering. He calls it the Fatshark Dominator SE (Limited Special Edition) and it is beautiful! Its black and orange design reminds me of the Bugatti Veyron SS, but don't let that fool you. This product won't cost an arm and a leg. Similar specs to the Dominator HDV2 but at around $200 less. This should put it in the $349USD ballpark. It's also being offered with a spironet antenna making it a first for FatShark (normally FatShark only includes dipoles).

The Dominator SE features a 0.44" VGA LCD display set to provide large Field Of View (FOV) goggles at a fraction of the price of the popular HDV2, used by most of the top racing pilots around the world. Using analog video the image quality difference between the Dominator HDV2 and the Dominator SE will be almost imperceptible. The orange and black colour scheme makes these goggles stand out in the crowd.

Fatshark has included the latest DVR technology with these goggles. Automatic file saving even if you forget to stop recording before disconnecting your battery.

In terms of battery, it comes with a 2S 1000mAh however it is compatible with a 3S lipo. Word on the street is that a nice high capacity battery is on the way from an after-market manufacturer (more on that to come).

Features:
• Modular receiver bay
• Modular Head tracker bay (No head tracking module included)
• Integrated DVR
• 0.44" VGA LCD display
• NTSC or PAL Auto Switching

Specifications:
IPD Range: 59-69mm IPD range (adjustable with sliders on the bottom)

" And I still believe building a high power solar panel charger without any additional battery is challenging."
Huh ! Where did that even come into it? What's so challenging anyway? I've already got a 300 watt fold up portable solar charging pack. There's nothing at all to stop a person adding as many panels as they need. To hook up one of the chargers we use the only minor problem I can see (apart from the need of steady sunlight) might be keeping the voltage down a bit maybe.]]>

As for 'product specialists' the live chat operators are employed, NOT by HK but an off shore company based in the Philippines and wouldn't know the difference between a jack plane and an aeroplane]]>
<![CDATA[Misinformed by a 'Product Specialist' : l0gic]]> http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=70747 As soon as I saw it I knew it wasn't 'new'. You can see markings from use/wear on several of the connections and the GPS module/stand.. I took some advice from another Vector user and plugged it in to see it's current state and with his help we soon discovered it was setup for a Multirotor running a 4000mAh battery and a minimal OSD.

Quote=Sawdustit would be idiotic to risk sending one that's already damaged./QUOTE
I agree, but sending out one that's been used when a customer is expecting a new unit is just a cheap and nasty move by HobbyKing. It's not exactly hard to 'reset' these things, one would think they would at least do that. Regardless, if it had been previously returned for whatever reason or had even been used by HobbyKing (pretty hard to say it hadn't been) they shouldn't be supplying it as 'new'. They should be listing it in clearance items or something.

Quote=SootyI don't know where you got the idea your were consulting a "Product Specialist"./QUOTE
That's what they call them in the pre-chat setup. I'm well aware they're not actually specialists and also probably don't understand what half the products they 'support' actually do.. But from my own previous help-desk experience people in their position often have access to information not made available on the website.

Quote=SootyYou still have the difficulty of returning the item but you could send it to the Australian warehouse - might be a little cheaper./QUOTE
I did consider this, but to have it shipped with tracking info is still only marginally cheaper (about $7 NZ) than buying the newer GPS module. Which I'll probably end up doing.

Quote=SootyHave you considered your parcel might have been opened by NZ Customs and repackaged and resealed with tape?/QUOTE
The Vector comes in it's own retail packaging which was inside another box with a few other items. The exterior box was actually in very good condition and had no sign of being opened or re-sealed. When items get opened at customs (or an acting agent) it's re-sealed with tape that informs you this has happened, I see this almost daily in my 9-5 job, which is distribution. And if we did this, pucky we'd have people going all CGA/FTA and demanding immediate replacement. Unfortunately the Vector box had been opened and re-sealed (using regular office tape) twice before it was packaged and sent by HobbyKing.

--

My concern now is, why was it returned from the previous multi-coptering owner. Did it have a fault, were they not smart enough to figure it out, were they under the same impression of it being the latest version, has it been crashed?

I guess now I'd have to go test it. Throw it on a disposable platform and make sure it actually functions correctly without fault before I put it in the craft that I actually purchased it for. Worries me that someone else probably wasn't happy with it and sent it back already.]]>

Try this before, makes it better:
EDF motors or simple pushers on it instead !

*The quad should be at least on 3S...
*Wings might be useful because the thrust wouldn't bent the quad=
stays straight (no pitch)
*A wing on it without a thrust motor (or engine) would suffer the pitch angle and so goes down (failures on videos).
*Of course, some kind of electronic control shouls be done on the controller and the connections...

Somehow, carrying beer, men or any stuff, this simple view is close to reality and interesting.
