8AWG = 6.5MM
10AWG = 5.5MM
12AWG = 4.5MM
14AWG = 3.5MM
16AWG = 3.0MM

24AWG = 1.6MM (6.5AMPS)

10MM Heatshrink for 8AWG
6MM Heatshrink for 10-12-14 and 16AWG.
6mm shrinks to 2.8mm (measured while posting)
4MM Heatshrink for 18-20AWG
3MM Heatshrink for 22-24AWG

Here is the ampacity (maximum amount of current) that each size of this silicon wire can handle. Keep in mind that this is just a rule of thumb as ambient temperature and air flow will make a difference.

8AWG 200 amps
10AWG 140 amps
12AWG 90 amps
14AWG 60 amps
16AWG 35 amps
18AWG 20 amps
20AWG 12 amps
22AWG 10 amps

There are a lot of different people saying anything from 18 AWG to 14 AWG wire for creating ESC to motor wires over longer arms of say 500mm. 30 amp OPTIC ESCs... thoughts?
 Thorax78 231 points
30A? You should use 16AWG to stay safe and 18AWG if you want something lighter but in this case you must have a good wire ventilation.

extending the esc-battery wires may eventually break your ESCs (you need to add more capacitance), but if you extend the esc-motor wires, you will be fine for sure.
 Elmardus 12 points
*sirbow That is not what I heard. If you extend the motor wires it can mess with the ESC timing or something...

Have been waiting for a month to get stock, seems like more and more items are listed as Backordered. HK, when will you reorder some?

Hi again James! I forgot to mention that the wire is more expensive from that store but it includes free worldwide shipping :D
 JamesBC 1 points
Which store? Guess HK does not want other stores shown, to bad they just don't get some in to sell.
 R/CNewbie 3807 points
Hi again! I forgot that Hobbyking filter anything that isn't related to their store :) Just google '1 Meter #16AWG Silicon Wire (Black 50cm Red 50cm) RC-8080' and it's the first result. They also have 20m rolls available for $20, depends how much you need :D Hope I've helped again :) -Al

if you order more than one lenth do they send it all in one peace or is it posible to order longer lenth of this stuff
 aJS32 281 points
All the time I have ordered more than one meter I have received it as one long wire. Regards
 Scott 234 points
If you order 5meters it will come in one length! ect
 Jake39947 3 points
It will come all in one piece even if you order 5meters it will come in one piece.
 sky3727 81 points
yes they will send according to the length you ordered. 1 is 1 meter wire, 5 is 5 meter wire, 10 is 10 meter wire.
 spllouder 66 points
YES, These wires come on spindles that are most likely 20 meters long

works great on multirotors for extending esc wires look it on quadcopter: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomRi25?feat

Conductor strands are thin and plentiful with pliant, temperature resistant insulation that facilitates routing in confined spaces...well suited to current-hungry applications like motors, ESC's and even high-zoot digital servo direct power applications...especially like that the product comes in one continuous length when more than a single one meter unit is purchased.
