With v2 firmware update, correcting many flaws of the previous 9X, plus inbuilt 2.4Ghz (no daggy second antenna) this is a quality, reliable 2.4Ghz system suitable for beginners and pro pilots alike. Get that locked-in feeling that only 2.4Ghz glitch free technology can provide. Ultra fast reaction times and interference free control of your model is only achievable with this 2.4Ghz technology.
Without a doubt, the best value 9Ch system available!

Important. The TURNIGY 9X has been reflashed with the new v2 firmware, fixing previous menu and mixing issues. This firmware flash is only available from our TURNIGY 9X system as we flash each unit in our office before it is shipped. Purchases of any other rebranded version of the TURNIGY 9X will not have the latest firmware and patches (even the OEM factory does not have these updates).
NOTE: "SWITCH ERROR" means you have one of the switches in the wrong position when you turn the radio on. It is not a fault.
Muaz not a thing. It is just that Mode 1 has throttle on the right and Mode 2 has the throttle on the left. (The Throttle Leveler is the only leveler with out a centering spring). It is not great issue to change a Mode 2 into a Mode 1 and a Mode 1 into a Mode 2. (In fact there is a video on you tubes showing how). Just watch warranty issues. Best to buy the mode you want!
Michel I have to answer sorry. The Transmitter takes 8 x AAs or a Jr Type Lipo. The receiver has a volt range of 4.5v to 6.5v. So you can use 4 x AA (1.5v). Or if you have a Electric Motor then your ESC will have a uBec or you can buy a external uBec. Lasty Georg if you want, you must give. I like to give at least one LIKE if I read a Question and another if I reply. This is only nice!
If you choose the Lipo, be carefull not to reverse the polarity. Thats the major "sickness" for this radio. Make sure you find a Lipo with a similar plug to the one for the AA batteries. It shoud be negative/positive/empty 2s plug. Bear this in mind or your radio will be gone, for good.
I bought this transmitter about a year ago and I really do enjoy it. However, I have had a problem with it that has made it impossible to use. Sometimes when I am flying, I will randomly lose control of the aircraft and it will stay at the current throttle but I will have no control over the aileron or elevator. This has happened to me a lot on different aircraft and sometimes I regain control but other times it just full throttles into the ground. I have tried a different receiver but the problem still exists. I even set the receiver up with my rc car and I could not get past 15 feet before I had no control over the car. Any ideas on how to fix this? I really don't want to have to buy another one.
Jason the first thing you must get is a Fail Safe. Either a receiver with a Fail Safe (HobbyKing®* ™* GT-2 2.4Ghz Receiver 3Ch SKU: HK-GT2_RX) or a external Fail Safe. Second get a new module. I would fit a OrangeRX DSMX/DSM2 2.4Ghz Transmitter Module (JR/Turnigy compatible) (SKU: 9171000070) and get DSM 2 / X receiver. The Orange Range of Receiver are well priced.
It looks as if you have a trouble in throttle channel. Have you tried to calibrate your TX? This is a copy and paste from original file (Under files tab):
Push the right lower trim tab to the left (aileron on a mode 2 TX), and the left side trim tab up (Throttle trim on a mode 2 tx), and while holding them, turn the Tx on. You will get a screen that shows the version number of the firmware, with four zeroes (0000) at the top of the screen.
Center both sticks in their range in all axis, and press the menu button until it beeps and release. The screen number will change to 0001.
Move the right stick to the upper right corner, and press menu, and you should get a beep, and the number on the screen will change to 0002.
Put the right stick in the lower left corner, and press menu, and get a beep, and the number will change to 0003.
Release the right stick, and put the left stick in the upper right corner, and press menu, get the beep, and the number will change to 0004.
Put the left stick in the lower left corner, and press menu again, get the beep and the number will change to 0005. Center both sticks, and press menu, get the beep. You are done calibrating the sticks. After calibrating press Exit and the mainscreen should appear.
I'd give this radio a 5 star rating but there are a few minor things that subtract points. -One is that putting the batteries is a hassle, the 8 AA cell holder is OK, but the cable gets on the way of the cover and it takes a while to be able to close it, there's a lot of pinching of the cables involved so I shouldn't wonder if the insulation fails sooner or later requiring a replacement of the cables. -Second is the very annoying and loud BEEEEP!!! you get with every-single-click you do on the buttons, seriously stressing to set up the radio at home, not good for conjugal life. To fix that I cut the leg that goes from a transistor to the speaker and added a 220 Ohm resistor in between. -Third, no manual comes with the radio. -Fourth setting up a V-Tail was a mind bending affair, I succeeded but I couldn't grok the logic of the procedure.
Besides those things it's a good product.

I purchased this transmitter & Assan XJ8 module from HC. First I got around the switch error bug (thanks to that reviewer) For me the Assan XJ8 just flashes red once on start up, but gives no steady red LED & will not go into pairing mode. Assan say they don't know the problem & suggest putting XJ8 in another TX (I don't have one) Anyone know how to test if TGY 9X or Assan is the problem? Thanks

Great range - over 3000m, but realy to big receiver. Also dont like to small battery compartment, and antenna linked with wire. You Also can't mix with AUX cahnnels - you can oly mix first 4 cahnells. No manual - It could be at least link at this product to download manual for Turnigy 9x. Also don,t like that this transsmiter in almost never in stock, or that there smaller 6 ch receivers I waiting for more 3 months So from me only 3 stars.
