you ll need some sort of shet material (eg cf) but if you have been waiting for these wheel mounts fr a long time this is the best alternative ive found
If you are using it on a tricopter, you could go "the old way" with a helicopter blade grip as in RCExplore Tricopter v1 & 1.5 . If you are using this as a wheel mount, then I've got no clue :/
I went to my local hobby shop and found a product like this just little different but im going to use the same concept for my tricopter with them they were about double the price to make one but it supports local buisness and I was able to get it that day instead of wait 2 months then another 2-3 weeks for it to get to me. you can also look at flite test they are releasing a steering mechanism for the tricopter.
Two "Great Planes Nylon Nose Gear Blocks" and a grinder make a great version of David's tricopter pivot. The holes were almost perfectly space for my motor as well (using NTM Prop-drive 28-36 750kv). I didn't want to wait for these.
Currently there's high demand for this item because of the RCExplorer tricopter build. I've seen this come and go every 30-45 days or so, but expect to wait up to 60 days as stated, HobbyKing generally delivers as stated.

Thanks very much. I am also going to be using them for my tri copter. I can see how they could be of such short supply with the sudden surge since David released his design. Thanks you verry much for your answer it was very much appreciated.

i was perfectly happy with range of movement, you have to remember that on take off and landing you only want it to be moving a very small amount. i have also used this for the rear motor tilt on my tricopter, also to great success. highly recomended
You're telling me that, an organization the size of HK can't get delivery deadlines from their suppliers? "..goods arrive every 21-60 days!" That's hardly reassuring to customers. Does HK actually have these on order from their supplier?
I just canceled them so I can receive other goods. Seems HK have some problems with stocks on many items they sell. Maybe a change in stock responsible managers will solve the problem. Is almost useless to contact them and remind that you are waiting the goods you already payed for 6 months. They do not care.
Have bought it for "filling" a shipment but I don't know how to use them for steering front wheel(s). Could someone kind advise. Many thanks in advance.
Here, you can see an example on how to use it for a plane : www.link you must consider that:
1/the tiny part should be fixed on an axel
2/this axel must be loose passing through the "plate" with the two holes (re-drill if needed)
3/Attach the weel you want at the end of the axel
4/then attach a servo rod to the tiny fixed part in order to steer the weel as you need :)
The big white mounting plate is mounted into the fuselage with 4 screwes in vertical position. A 4mm landing gear shaft is inserted into holes and tighten with lock screw on steering arm (arm itself should be between horns on mounting plate). Connect servo to the steering arm and you are good to go. Regards
Many thanks to xavier & aJS32 for Ur kind advices. Unfortunately, I'm just too 'noob' to understand your explainations. Wonder if any photo can be posted on this forum.
For all the pepole that need these for daddes tricopter and so on... you can get them on gigantcod (dot) co (dot) uk hope this will help :) (i dont have time to wait for re-stock)
you can find them under
rc spares
Horns/clevises/ arms/hinges
when will it arrive? says Stock updated frequently.
Goods arrive every 21-60 days.No ETA on 1 item.
17/12/2011
Stock available and arriving from the back-warehouse within 7~10 days. so dose that mean 7 to 10 days or 21-60...
"No ETA on 1 item." That's the part of all that that matters. In other words that whole statement you quoted is just a generalised way of talking about stock they're not sure when it's coming but they don't want to say that outright. It could be tomorrow, it could be next year.
If size can be a bit different they do have "Front Wheel Steering Arm & Mount Set 32mm" in stock. "PRODUCT ID: 07-01001x5". Copy and paste either the description or the product id number and paste it into the quick search box about half way down the left side of every page, hit enter and it should come up in the results.
hmm yea that can work :) just have to glue on a pice of carbon fiber and drill holes for the motor mount. will order some escs on gigant cod hk never re stocks the 18amp... thanks for the help cheers!
I think HK knows very well why this item is so popular. See the two mounts in on the back ground of the pic.. haha! I realy wonder why it takes so long to restock though.
On 11.04 it was "Stock available and arriving from the back-warehouse within 7~10 days." Now it's the same message... Well, seems it's time to cancel my order, because they will arrive as others backordered items - after few months :/
