can i know what size of HEX socket Screwdriver it use?? i want buy screwdriver
 Formori 6 points
For an M3 size nut you need a 6mm wrench size, or a 6mm hex driver, but be careful that the socket driver isn't too shallow for the screw you're putting it on to. I would recommend a small set of metric wrenches for regular use like this and drivers in specific applications only.

You need 5,5mm hex socket screwdriver

I would have thought he'd need a 3 mm Hex Driver. He did say he wanted to buy a "screwdriver" Where are wrenches mentioned?
 grieverance 31 points

What material is this nut made from: is it aluminum?
 e_lm_70 416 points

steel with coating stainless steel

Its made of aluminum.
 mick fly 46 points
just your normal plated steel they are very lite but will go rusty if left out in the weather. cheers.
 waterlogged 2542 points
The nut is made of steel, sometimes ***r quality and ***r quality control. I've had them with the shaft about 10pcnt off center or some with no thread. The top edge is crimped over a nylon washer which locks the nut after it's mated with the bolt. Great if worried about vibration loosening them.
 nicademus 23 points
Certainly not Aluminium - just polished steel, not high quality steel, but will still hold anough newtons of force to be safe for whatever you are trying to hold together with such a small nut and bolt...i.e if you really want to be sure, use something bigger anyway!

Does the M3 designation mean 3mm diameter?

Is this the nut I should use to mount my GWS slow-fly props on a bell-style motor with a 3mm shaft diameter?
 kowe90 4 points
yes it does
 7daniel49 118 points
Yes! You're right on. This will work perfectly for your scenario.

Nice quality item. Fits perfectly M3 screws and locks them with no problems.
With this locknuts you do not have to use a double nut anymore.
M3 size is difficult to find in hardware stores but as HC is stocking it I will be buying some more.
