The Armstrong Whitworth F.K.10 was a unique design that never went into full production, it was intended as a 2 seat fighter and light bomber/recconasance aircraft but proved to be inferior to succesful designs already in service. The whole concept of quadruplane's was fairly shortlived but the F.K.10 featured some interesting design features, particularly the all moving tail.....eventually the key to supersonic flight!
This fantastic looking H-King F.K.10 is made from tough EPO foam and has been superbly finished in a realistic paint scheme complete with authentic waterslide decals. The pre-installed 9g servo's, 35mm Brushless Motor and 30A ESC certainly help to speed up assembly but it would be fair to say that the build is slightly more involved than a monoplane! Like the full size aircraft, this fantastic looking model has some unique features, first is the very scale all-moving tail, just like the real thing, which is mounted on a carbon rod and support by bearings and struts at each end, secondly is the bayonet fitting cowl, a very simple but effective way to install the battery and as you do not plug the battery in until the cowl has been re-fitted, it is also quite safe.
In terms of flying, the F.K.10 has amazing slow fly capability, the lift of 4 wings combined with the more than ample thrust of the powerful outrunner motor & 10" prop means that the F.K.10 can cruise around at a mere wiff of throttle. The large wheels means that the F.K.10 can handle the roughest of strips, especially as there is plenty of power for take off and landing is a breeze courtesy of the amazingly slow approach speed. As this fantastic looking model uses a nice big 3300mAh 3s pack, flight times are just amazing which is just as well, this model has so much presense that you just won't want to land it!
Features: Superb Scale Finish Great Size Model with Tons of Presence Amazing Slow Fly Capability Pre-Installed Low KV Powerfull Brushless Outrunner Simple to Assemble Authentic All Moving Tail 8 Aileron's give excellent Roll Authority Bayonet Cowl for Fast Battery Access Superb Flight Times Large Narrow Wheels Suited to Grass Strips
Yes, I to agree there should be a manual, but after a few minutes it's really a no brainer to pop it together. 2 wings in front and 2 in the back! Just joking. I think it flys pretty good. Ron/Michigan
Where is the parts? I have flew this plane and its ok,but only in a no wind flight. Still need the botton right wing brace,am using a pice of foam as I am missing a brace.
I'm afraid this plane will require a little more "modeling" than most of us are up for these days. Also it will take up a lot of space. It will certainly be allergic to wind. This is one I can enjoy watching others fly. Full marks for variety of choice HK

Cant wait t fly it, but please someone turn their plane upside down and take a shot of the elevaters,so i can at looks see the connection on wing and wht i used, thanks guys in advance.
I know this may be a bit late but it could help others out,if you type in the full name of this plane into google and add rcgroups to the title you should get a thread pop up,someone over on rcgroups has got that part of the build covered from what i have just read,if you need more help i'm sure they will be only to pleased to help.
build, has anyone got any pics of the rear elevators setup. and how the airelons a put together to move as onbe, typical of HK the instructions are not good enough to finish also how are the servos connected?
IMHO all moving tails tend to be inherently week in a structural sense so that if the plane goes upside down on landing(a very likely outcome with this type)it is liable to bust tail or strip servo gears. There are also issues with cheap servo's not centering properly on such a large control surface area. Of course these problems are surmountable but most people want low fuss flying these days.
Yes Dusty, how utterly bizarre! This will be one for the HK paranormal dept to investigate. My comment aught to have been a response to Martin further down and yet it has appeared here. so scary, so sad.
I've learnt not to answer questions from my account page under "Hobbyking Answers" since it would put the reply as a new question which has been making the discussion sections pretty confusing. Unless they've fixed it finaly, I'm not going to try it till I know for sure though. If you were answering someone further down and it popped in here that would be yet another weird bug around here. C'mon Hobbyking tech guys. Sort these bugs out.
A gentle warning
I bought the pilot in the related items tab and in my opinion its way too big, I will be looking for a replacement.
C'mon HK bring out more pilots.
Why such a big deal about the moving tail a lot of early planes had them and this one is the same shape as the Morane-Saulnier Type L and H. The Type H is the one Focker changed the ruder shape and landing gear no and called the Eindecker!
Full marks to HK for origonality here.I have the old dapron 3ch Sopwith tripane (rudder elevator)from another manufacturer and that is fantastic in calm weather. this looks awesome but is liable to be high maintenance /low use here as the wind never seems to stop.Worth the money as an ornament. Not enough thought goes into battery bays on any plane. It is much easier to modify to make these smaller than larger and balance wires are fragile
now this is a very funny airplane, I have the Fokker Dr1 and I wanted something more ... here it is ! These airplane flies very realistic with good pilots...
it is based on a real aircraft from the Armstrong Whitworth company. During WW1 countries were looking for anything aircraft that may help and get a Government contract. You have to google search for a vid to see it fly and pix of the real aircraft. It likes to tip over at slow speeds I read in one report. Sorry take a pass on this one, interesting but as others have said I like other planes more
Tipping over was a problem of Fokker E-III too, look at the success rate of that aircraft. during war rookies with just a week of experience joined the fighter pilot band wagon, that could well be the contributory factor. No?
I have a Parkzone Se5a and you have to watch that one as well. Keeping the power on a little helpsbut double the wings? Sorry my next plane I will but with extra wings is a E Flite, Pitt12E
Most of the " tail dragger " fighters including the fastest WW2 ones nosed over at the drop of a hat and needed prop-wash over a full up elevator to keep the prop from striking the deck or worse. The problem with these WW1 planes is that you can't "cheat" by bending the undercart legs forward and most of us are landing on grass that is massively over scale. Landing these properly with folk watching really requires a lot of practice and little luck ....love it
mmm not sure on removing the cowl all the time to fit lipo in.constantly tugging on the motor wires might cause a failure in soldering joints. will see on peoples reports.
Got to give HK a positive for introducing this unusual aircraft. But I just don't know. Two many breakable wings and I don't like the screw cowl, too many screws. I guess its for the person who has already gone through the list of common aircraft and is looking for something a bit different.
I forgot where in my post I said people shouldn't buy it because I don't like it. Oh wait Its because I didn't.
I made a joke about its looks not tell people to not purchase it.
Silly people,
Just stick with the "WE ALL FLY THE SAME PLANE" crowd, and try nothing new :), this plane is a blast to fly and it drives people crazy arguing about if its scale

Got my kit today - well packed as with most products from HK. The down side to it all was that there are no instructions supplied, which while I was informed by their online help is the norm for PNF models, it is not that helpful when trying to figure out which wing section goes where , or more importantly in my opinion where the CofG should be and what sort of control throws there should be for successful flight.

My HobbyKing FK-10 had yesterday the greatest day: three perfect flights and also three perfect landings without nose overs on a low cut flat grass field! Thanks to the great power of the motor, after 3 meters, the model was airborne and flew very good. Slow flight characteristics were very good. Rolls, loopings are very easy to fly, but inverted flight over a long distance is not so easy.
But the maiden flight, two weeks ago, was a disaster. Reason: the CG was not ok. I had to put 180 gr. lead into the nose of the model and then the CG was ok. Now I know: never fly a model without a proper CG!!!
The second improvement: I took the undercarriage out of the model and bent it approx. 40 degrees to the front. Nose overs are now gone. The model is not for beginners, but not tricky to fly.
To the quality I have to say, that all wings were curved and I made them flat with 1.5 mm Carbon Rods glued into long slots over the length of the wings. For me it was not possible to flatten the wings with hot air. This has to be changed. I thinks the curves are coming from different paints on the upper and lower parts of the wings.
I love that thing....
