Turnigy Rechargeable Battery AA 2550mAh NiMH

Turnigy Rechargeable Battery AA 2550mAh NiMH

Low self discharge AA NiMH battery. Great for transmitters, fuel pumps, glow starters or other low discharge electronics that you want to use over several months or years without having to recharge.
Low-Self-Discharge NiMH batteries are a new technology that prevent the battery from slowly losing it's charge over time. In fact these LSD batteries can stay charged for over a year without losing more than 30% of their charge. Normal NiMH batteries would lose nearly 100% of their charge over 12 months.
Category: AA batteries
Capacity: 2400mAH
Voltage: 1.2V
Chemistry: NiMH
Weight: 29g
Dimensions: 51x14mm
We guarantee our cells are true to their capacity!
Sadly battery marketing is an evil game, with overstated capacity being the industry norm. Generally speaking, battery factories will suggest vendors to overstate the capacity by at least 30%, marking 1800mAh cells with 2300mAh labels or more!
While this might work for toy stores, such marketing tactics wouldnt survive 1 week in our store with customer feedbacks and reviews, and thats why we guarantee our TURNIGY 2400mAh NiMH cells to be at least 2400mAh!

You can charge NiMH cells at high current ratings. These Turnigy cells are of high quality. You can charge them from 1/10 C i.e. 240mA that will take 10-12 hours to charge cells but very good and safe. A good rate would be 1/5 or about 500mA. then fully charged at 5-6 hours. If you are in a hurry with as good charger for NiMH you can push up the current. 1C or 2.4A is good to charge in just over an hour. You can really push these cells and charge at 5A to have tem charged in 30 minutes on a good charger. This will shorten cell life. Also good practice is to now and then discharge batteries to 0.9V before charge.

What is the maximum charge rate of the battery?

whats the max voltage for a single Turnigy AA LSD 2400mAh?
 Roy_T 136 points
Mine averages 1.36V

I'm getting 1.45v on a max charge. I also recently read that 1.43 and 1.45 are usually the max voltage. If you are getting 1.36v I suggest you cycle you're batteries

This may sound like a dumb question but I will say it anyways, Can these AA NiMH batteries be recharged or are they one time use only? I have always used them as rechargeable batteries like the Spektrum batteries that came with my transmitter, using the transmitter charge plug to charge the batteries, but lately I have had some doubts about if the are actually take the full charge. The batteries are fairly new and have only been charged a couple of times. If anyone can shed some light on my question please do so.

yes they are rechargeable but its recommended once every ten cycles to refresh the batteries and for this you need a digital charge. if not you wont get the max charge

Well, WHY I cant order NiMH batteries using standard shipping? It say "Lipo total capacity **...." You know. But these are NOT LIPO.! Is ther any special trick to order NiMH from hobbyking (and not pay twice more for shipment than goods value)?

There doesn't seem to be and since the problem has existed for 2 years now, I don't think it's going to be fixed. Their shipping calculator is also completely daft when it comes to shipping large quantities of batteries. Try 40-50 of these AA and youl'll see the problem. There should be no problem fitting 40-50 of these in a resonably sized package accepted by most couriers and postal services. But their shipping calculator seems to think you need to stack the batteries in a very, very, very long row, which of course is going to be rejected.

You can only buy one of these batteries unless you pay for registered postage- Makes purchasing them VERY expensive. Postage for 8 batts on their own $14. If you include it with another order going registered almost doubles the postage cost. Even though it's only a NiMH, they still apply the same 3000mah limit they use for lipos.
