The Hobbyking X666 quadcopter frame is a high quality glass fiber frame that offers both great looks and performance. Built from light weight yet extremely rigid glass fiber and aluminum, the X666 offers a great combination of weight savings and strength.
The X666's aggressive styling makes it look just as sinister as its name, while still offering excellent functionality and performance!
This frame is based on the popular X525 V3 design, but features extended arm lengths of 666mm. This is a Hobbyking exclusive which means you will not find it anywhere else!
The X666 features a very nicely finished glass fiber main frame, shock-absorbing landing legs and folding aluminum arms. It also includes 3 silver arms and 2 black (5pcs total) so you can change them based on flying in + or X configuration for orientation. The shock-absorbing landing legs are a great feature to handle those rough landings that we all have from time to time.
We also offer a full line of multi-rotor electronics such as multi-rotor control board, ESC, motors and more, so it has never been easier or more affordable to get a quad in the air!
Required: Multi-Rotor control board 15~25A Brushless ESC x 4 2200~3000mAh 3S 11.1V Lipoly 28-XX 1100~1300KV Brushless motor x 4 8x4~10x4.3 Propeller - 2 standard/2 reverse rotation
User manual available for download located under "Files" tab.
Note: All Hobbyking X series frames are purchased factory direct. We have worked closely with the factory engineers to ensure quality. All X series frames are CNC cut and accurately milled unlike many of the cheap frames available from Ebay or Chinese vendors that are drilled by hand in low tech factories. The Hobbyking X series also feature thicker GF main plates for added stength.
Is it named 'X666' because the frame diameter (666mm) was an ideal size, or was it named 'X666' after the devil's numbers, and built accordingly? 'Cause based on it's looks, I think it was the latter.
wrong motors?
I bought 4 propdrive 28-26 motors to build with this frame and I'm wondering if I bought the wrong ones.
They doesn't seem to be a way to mount them with the spring loaded gear installed.
Also. the motors came with no mounting hardware or screws. Is this normal?
Has anyone else used these motors and if so, how did you mount them?
Thanks.
I accidentally posted this in the reviews section so I am reposting this in this section.
Hi. I have this 666 frame and I am using the Turnigy Plush 25amp speed controller, Turnigy Nano-Tech 3S 2200 mAh 35 to 70C lipo batteries, KK 2.0 board with 1.5 firmware, power distribution board, OrangeRX receiver, NTM prop drive 28-26 1350KV motors and 10x4.5 SF props. What my question is is that my Turnigy Plush 25amp speed controllers seen to be getting hot. Not to bad but it makes me worry a bit. I was thinking that I also have some 9x4.7 SF props. Do any of you think that the smaller props 9x4.7 SF would lower the load on the motors and drop the temp of the speed controllers? Also with the 10x4.5 SF props I have awesome response. If I went with the smaller 9x4.7 SF props, would I loose performance? I think there is a forumla to figure this out but I have no idea what it is. Thanks.
I plan to build a quadcopter with this frame (X666) with 3 cell battery, 30 amp ESC and 10x4.5 SF props and i want to ask you some things: 1. Turnigy XP motors or NTM Series motors ?? Which is more reliable and powerful ?? 2. What is the best kv for this setup for best stability and low battery consumption ?? 3. for 3S battery what do you think is the best capacity for long flight time and light enough combination for this setup ?? and finaly, Turnigy Lipoly or Turnigy nano-tech ?? - Thank you very much in advance for your answers and sorry for my poor english.
I am trying to build my first quad and need some help. I have purchased four DT-750 motors, kk2.0 board, and four T20A esc's, and prop adapters. Which props do I use? and will this frame work well for my setup? (if not please recommend one). What size battery will give me the best flying times with this setup?
Thanks
tacorc
I would use either 10*3.8 props or 11* 4.7 props and at least a 4000maH battery for decent flight time. i use a 5000maH and get about 15 min hover time using 11*4.7 props.
Im going to build my first quad on this frame with those part: motors PRODUCT ID: TR2217/16
ESC PRODUCT ID: TR_P25A
5000mah 3s lipo PRODUCT ID: T5000.3S.20
kk2.0 board
I have some question:
1. what the propelleors i shold buy?
2. The total weight will be around the 2kg so that motors will be good for this weight and for this frame?
3. how much flight time i will have?
Hi All,
what about this frame with 4 of:

and propellers:

Did anyone has such experience configuration with a KK2 control board ?
Thanks
Stefano.
What is the best control board?
KK2 is not stable? I read that some people say it is better to change the firmware to 1.4 or 1.5. Make much difference?
I ask because I do not know how to modify the firmware yet.
What you tell me the hobbyking`s control boards that are listed above (acc `s)?
-Slow Fly Electric Prop 8045SF
-Slow Fly Electric Prop 8045R (4 pc - Green, RH Rotation)
-Hobby King Quadcopter Power Distribution Board
-Turnigy Multistar 20 Amp Multi-rotor Brushless ESC 2-4S
-battery 2200 3s
-I'm still in doubt for the motor.(1100kv)
Thanks.
Not that i have seen. But if you want a cheep easy to make one take a large easter egg and glue them together. Then cut it vertically down the center and presto! you have a canopy you can paint yourself and mount. just be creative XD
the cheapest and easiest is a plastic food storage bowl with locking ears not a press on mount the lid to the top plate and KK board to it put bottom on and lock it you are done! works very well
Try NTM Prop Drive 28-26 1000KV / 315W (short shaft version) with Counter Rotating Three Blade 9x4.5 Propeller they work really well together
Don't forget to get a couple of spare prop, u will need them
Using for 1350 motors Total weight is 2000 grams Which is about five pounds almost. The calculation I did with the motors with 11.1 battery Only puts up 5 pounds of thrust. So am right and this won't fly very well
I use this frame. combined with, DST-4 Turnigy 1200 Brushless Motor 1200kv Bell, 4 Multistar Turnigy 30 Amp OPTO, KK.2 board, and a 2200 mAh battery. The combination can produce a stable fly?
Hello Bangun Yes the KKé* can produce a very stable flight and very smooth. However you need to flash the KK2 to version 1.4 or 1.5 (for camera stabilisation controls) for that you'll need USBASP cable. Enjoy flying
im going to build my first quad on this frame with:4xntm prop drive 28-26 1350kv.1xslow fly prop 22x4,7sf.1xslowfly prop 11x4,7 sf rh.4xturnigy multistar 45amp multirotor brushless esc.1xturnigy nano-tech 220mah 3s 45~90c lipopack.1xhobbyking kk2.0fcb.
but im not sure that the components are sufficient enough?
Hello Lauri, Some good selections some to change: 1)propeller are to big for the motor and battery. Should change to 7x4.5 or 8X4.5 as a max 2)your battery is to small capacity. better go for 3000 or 3500. other wise you will have 5 minutes flight only. 3) A power distribution board (see accessories under the quad frame) is helpful. 4) you will need also some connectors (battery to distribution board, distribution board to ESC, ESC to motor) 5) You could want to upgrade the KK2 to version 1.4 or 1.5 (more stable) as the delivered version is 1.2.
Personally I'm usuing D2836/8 with 8x4.5 prop and 3S 4000 or 4S 4000 battery and 30A ESC. You can also select D2836/9 (better but was not in stock when oredered) with 9x4.5.
I have just ordered one, great price and should be very stable.
With this frame you will have to extend your power cables because of the length of the frame, not a big issue at all.
Go for it!!!!
Hello Glenn, just a quick one: the stability is not comming from the frame but from the flight controller and the speed of reaction of the ESC. So A kké* board with firmware 1.4 or 1.5 and ESC flashed with Simon firmware will be very stable. Enjoy flying
hey guys,
i am new to this quadcopter and i request you guys to help me in choosing a quadcopter.
i think this frame i.e X666 is good for start.
please mention me all the parts required to make it fly. i would be thankful to you for this.
please help.
Me too and I think a lot of others as well!
Maybe they get it from the moon by horse and that's why it takes forever to come backin stock.
I did a big order and this item is holding everything.
There's an option in the order to remove the backordered items so that the rest of the order can be shipped out. Just order another frame in separate order like ID: 9323000001 (160mm smaller) or 260000001 (450mm) - that's all they have cheap for now. Or, you can backorder all the frames you like and cancel them as soon as the first frame is back in stock
I've been waiting 2.5 months now.. Keep that in mind when you order. It is not weeks, but months and this is holding up all my other equipment I ordered.. Im sorry I bought this.
So I cancelled the order like you said, and reordered.. But you can't use the refund for shipping. I had to pay that again. I guess I have a credit now :(
I dont think so! I have one of these frame and i think its not impossible but very hard to do! if you make these changes, will be very hard to fix other parts of your quad, like control board!
I think the control board is the least of my concerns, I was more thinking if the frame could handle 8 motors.
The execution wouldn't be "very hard to do!" I would only need to make new landing skids.
You might also have to drill some extra holes, which is much more difficult than you might think, if done precisely. I would suggest to buy a hexaframe for example straight away, as its not that different to octoframe besides the software.
I don't think you need to drill extra holes.. not if you use the same motor mount's on both sides you might need a longer screw to hold both mount's on each arm.
Not sure how I could be more clear.. I would buy extra motor mounts www.link and fit those directly under the other mount's using the same screw holes and every thing.
I understand now! you want to put 8 motors with 4 arms, each arm with 2 motors! Might work!

I just receive this frame yesterday, well build, no instructions, i use the instructions of the 525 frame it looks the same. the screws are good, but only have 4 nylon screws to mount the Control Board, if you have to mount the Hobby King Quadcopter Power Distribution Board its is a little dificult because of the space. I put one above the other lets see if there is no vibration. This frame have 2 arms paint black to indicate the front but this color is not very good for, i will paint in orange later and put a green propeller for better orientation.

Just got this frame in yesterday, very nice frame for the price. All the materials are of good quality, all holes line up correctly, and the hardware is very nice. I had no issues with assembly. This thing is huge!! I had a v1 talon and the x666 is a monster compared. I was going to try to fab my own quad, but with the x666 being only $24 why bother ;)
Sehr stabil und gut durchdacht das ganze . Einfacher zusammen .

Very nice frame. Easy assembly, Used the HK i86, Turnigy 28-30-750kv, HK blue 12A ESC, FlightMax 3s1p 2200 20C, 10x6 GWS clone props, FrSky TFR6 FASST 2.4ghz. Had to extend the ESC power wires. Board/ESC setup took a bit of reading but not too difficult. Still tuning the board but it flies fine. about 6 minutes per battery in windy conditions.
