Extra 330 Balsa Plug and Fly 1500mm for 6s w/Motor/ESC/MG Servo
Ever fancied a decent sized 3D or Aerobatic Sport Fly balsa plane but were baffled by the set up choices? Or maybe you just want a large balsa sport plane that can be assembled in double quick time? If so, this great looking and very capable Extra 330 is for you!
The all balsa construction of this nice size Extra is nicely done, as is the expertly applied covering. The level of pre-assembly is very high for a balsa model, the powerful outrunnerbrushless motor, ESC and Metal Gear Digital Servo's have all pre-installed! Once out of the box, you simply need to glue on the horizontal stabilizer, screw in the ball linked pushrods, bolt on the superb Carbon Fibre undercarriage, rig up the pull/pull rudder and you are basically good to go! The wings are plug in, as you would expect and are mounted on a large but lightweight CF tube, the large canopy is secured by a proper latch and can be accessed in seconds for rapid battery changes, so as well as looking and performing brilliantly, the Extra is also practical!
There is no doubt that this is Extra is very capable 3D plane but being a scale model, it is also great for sport aerobatic's and given it's size, the Extra is a perfect club size model. The bright scheme is excellent for orientation, and the powerful pre-installed motor swings a 15x8 prop on 6s, more than enough power for any type of flying! This Extra 330 is a great looking and very capable model that offers the convenience of a foamy combined with the durability, performance and precision that only balsa can offer!

motor power and features and trade mark ?
How can we change or program ?
Gostaria de saber se posso confiar nesse motor para movimentos 3D ou seria melhor trocar por um motor com melhor desempenho. Me recomendam algum motor?
Yep, it looks like an exact copy, somehow HK mustve gotten ahold of the **** files. Also, if you watch the video, you will see that it has the "Fly the Best" **** logo on it multiple times throughout the video, the most obvious one being at 0:40.
they say it has amazing verticle performance and large surfaces for 3d so i would hope so but then again it is hk you could always put in your own motor if the on installed doesnt give the performance you want
More than enough power to hover vertically...tumbles very well too...pretty good flying plane overall - a bit heavy especially with the 6s brick in it but for the money it flies great.
I'm using the 4500 6S nanotech and have no issues...I would love to run a smaller (hence lighter battery but there is so much tail weight that you'll need every bit of the 6s as far forward as you can just for it to balance.

Esse valor é* para o aviã*o quase pronto para voar , você* só* vai precisar de bateria e controle !
Mas esse nã*o é* de forma alguma um modelo para quem esta iniciando, um boa escolha seria o bixler !
Pergunte a vontade...
Yes everything is provided, however I upgraded my pull pull connectors with dubro pieces...also the 4mm thumbscrews for the wings were not included so you'll have to get some - other than that make sure you go through the entire plane with some glue as most of the hinges and control horns needed to be reglued...flies great.
make sure it wasn't taped to the foam...I found a whole bag of stuff taped inside the bubble wrap that I almost threw away...learned that the hard way on another plane...if not just go to your local HS and pickup some quality pull-pull kit and it should have everything you need...
good luck getting that - Even with additional weight in the nose I can only get 110mm - but have since moved it to about 115mm with the 6s all the way forward and a little extra weight on the nose. For the maiden the CG was way too far back but was still predictable albeit a little touchy.
I am looking at eather getting this or a Prox260 as my first hardcore 3D macheine and i was wondering if anyone can tell me more about this model mainly if anything needs to be swaped out for better stuff.(I currently have a epp mx2 from here that im learning 3D on)
I just got the prox and that is the best 3d plane I have ever owned if u use a .55 on it, it will hover torque roll and every other trick not to mention its the toughest plane I have ever owned

Entã*o qual é* o tamanho deste aviã*o ?
Please, I bought one this plane in scratch&dent mode (no damaged related) but received than damaged (engine cowling, fuselage-tail, wing servo mount and rudder). Anybody know where i can find replacement parts for this Extra 330 and what is the manufacturer of this plane?
This plane should not have a manufacturer that you can do is a repair with resin in the fuselage fairing and you will even have to desentelar the same and make the repairs
This is so close in size to the **** 330sc that its based off of that you could probably use their parts as replacements - I know I just ordered their side force generators ... don't know for sure if it'll fit but couldn't hurt to e-mail them the dimensions and then verify for yourself.
at that price I think you will be waiting a while before someone buys it. There are planes even from other companies that would be cheaper to put together.
I'd love to help you out but apparently HK "lost" my package so it may be a while until I can fight long enough to have them send another...and I'm sure I'll have to pay for shipping again...so far not liking this plane at all.
Ok Finally got mine delivered (replacement to the first that never showed up) and the actual measurements are Length = 55inch (back of rudder to front of cowl) and Wing Width = 60" (wing tip to wing tip)
By the way covering is perfect...can't wait to maiden it - use the 3d hobby shops install guide though...better prep info - and you have to drill a hole in the rudder for the tail wheel.
scottc....1500mm is 59.05512 inches. maxx so you measured exactly 60" (1524mm)? could it actually be 59" and the extra inch came from having to measure around the fuselage? either way, that proves it's not the 57" plane from the other brand
sfactor1 - yes the wings are probably around 59" as the measurement had to go above the fuse and furthermore at the time of measurement I didn't have the wings fully bolted down as no thumb bolts were provided and once I did the wings snugged up a little...not 3" worth but when I get home I'll re-measure tip to tip now that the wings are fully seated and a few flights have been performed.
after 3 flights today with my converted UCANDO 3D by Great planes I will have trouble flying small electrics again. 57 inch wings, 60 size turigy, 5000, 6c 30c batt and it was amazing. Plus I got the planes used ( just the plane) for 40$ When I see a big plane like this one it will be great to fly for sure.
EP what motor is actually in this plane, can you give size in lenth and width for me, if i get this i would change to a 4 cell setup, i have a motor that runs up to 950 watts so i know the motor i have will fly the plane.
i just finished building a 1400mm funcub not too long ago. it is big. yesterday i baked some cookies using peanut butter, oatmeal, walnuts, maple syrup and cranberries. i think i might watch a movie on my 55" tv. i will have trouble watching on small tvs again.
please hobbyking, can somebody confirm the true specs? is it 1400mm span as spoken in the video or 1500mm as written in the specs or something in between? the conflicting specs means at least something is wrong and needs to be corrected.
I see this model have same wing area as Precision Aerobatics Extra MX (46,5dm2). But PA Extra MX have flying weight only 1750g, so HK Extra 330 a much better racer?
pa planes are the lightest out there. they are the ferrari of the 3d planes. also the pa uses a 2200 6s. the recommend batt for this is 4000-5000 6s. huge diff in batts
So: - HK Extra 330 WITHOUT battery weight 2188g - PA Extra MX WITH battery 6S 4400mah (4x3S 2200mah) weight 2124g
On the other hand - HK Extra 330 with recommend batt 5000mAh 6S - a good model for long range FPV, then in aerobatic zone can make cool 3D and fly long range FPV in landing zone. Just like real airplanes ))
ferrari performance comes with a ferrai price tag. the pa will cost me over $1000 to the door. i did the math here but was censored :( This plane will cost me just over $400 to the door. besides the huge diff in batts, the 250% price difference is a also a huge diff to me
I use 6s 5000 in my converted to electric UCANDO ( made by great Planes) Amazing batts but a brick when it comes to weight. Will have it back in the air as soon as the 3 or 4 days of rain/wind go away
Comparing PA ExtraMX vs. HK Extra330:
PA 330 US$ (Germany) vs. HK 350 US$.
PA 1.750g vs. HK 3.000g.
So you have to pay 20 US$ to get 1.250g extra Extra!
LOL
alt f4 - good troll comment! price is pretty good in that u get a FREE 1.750kg in MOTOR, ESC AND 4 SERVOS. and the FREE LABOUR of installation! also the U CANNOT COMPARE a PA with this or the 3d shops plane
agree on the price of a PNP plane the HK Extra 330 1650 mm a****** (only) 275$ to the door This plane is 385$ to the door but a RX and batt and go flying. but it is 1500mm or maybe 1400mm?? What puts this plane our of reach is the shipping. There are RC companies in Canada that are free shipping inside Canada. So there is the toss up. I think I will hold off till spring since I have to many planes now
