The F-8 Crusader was the last US Navy fighter to use guns as it's primary weapon and featured a unique variable incidence wing, the aircraft was hugely successful as a daytime fighter & low level reconnaissance platform. This Mini F-8 is made from crash resiliant EPO foam it includeds 3 x 9g servos, 20A ESC and a mini yet mighty 50mm EDF fan unit and motor all pre-installed. All that is required to finish the model is your own transmitter/receiver (Tx/Rx), a 850mah 3s1p Lipo and around 45 minutes of build time.

Thi F8 hk jet was not balance after all equiment is inside hey 55 year in this hobby I no the problem tell your customer the probelm I am still buying from them because there prive in Faire Fernand
hi the only way i could get this to fly was to put 1300 3s inthe plane, then cut the canopy to install the bigger battery and push the battery as far forward as possible this is the only way for me it would fly straight. with the 850 it just went in a flat spin very tail heavy.also as another comment suggests, max out the elevator you need all you can get ,shes quite a fast flyer doesnt like going slow and lands fast,so whatch out,for the money though nice looking plane...
This is 3 channel only. Motor, elevator and ailerons. You could modify it to have rudder, but it would not give you any real benefit.
Credit me if this answer was useful. Enjoy!
Nope, its 3 channels, throttle, elevons ( elevator in the back functions as ailerons and elevator at same time). Most 50mm jets are configured this way, though you can add a rudder to it wit a servo and some wire.
The model comes with 2mm ve and -ve connectors. I changed them for xt60 by simply removing the 2mm plugs and soldering on the xt60. I would suggest using something like a Rhino 1050. Its under the canopy with very small amount of foam removal. Balances nicely too.
Credit if my answer was useful. Enjoy!
Was excited in anticipation of this plane. I'm new to the hobby and wanted a cheapie EPO EDF to learn on without breaking the bank. Never liked the Crusader/Corsair 2... but what the heck, I figured the high wing design might make it a little better to learn on and the big intake and straight tube seemed a good flying efficient design...
Unfortunately, I never got to see let alone fly her! Five Days after order she was in the UK and I thought just a few more days to pass through customs. Hooray! NOPE.. *(
After SEVERAL weeks in customs with no further updates I saw on the China/EMS tracking that there was an attempted deliver time stamped at 04:00?? I figured that was not local time because obviously no one is delivering at that hour... I hope. Took a while to figure out that deliver in UK was by Parcel Force (part of the Royal Mail apparently) and that no deliver attempt had been made. My inquiry took a few days to process and it was a minor PIA to get decent contact info but I later found out that my order was being held in customs for a £*20 fee! OK... so when the shipping was nearly as much as the plane, I figured given the sale price it was still a deal (about $85 US total) but no throw in another $35 US for a customs fee and I'm paying DOUBLE the item price in shipping and fees!! EFF That! I told Parcel Force that I was refusing to pay the customs fee and have it sent back to HK.
I then contacted HK via the online chat and was quickly told that I'd have a refund once the item was received and verified. ONCE AGAIN GREAT HK CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! THANK YOU!
I couldn't wait though, and just bought a Mig-15 micro anyways. not as good a deal but still well under $100 US for a BnF and it will serve the same purpose. Easy to fly (3 channel only) and take abuse (park flyer size with easy to belly land 'fuel tanks' underneath)
Thanks HK, wish I had the F8/A7 but is cool. I took a gamble on the 'global' warehouse and learned a lesson. No fault of HK that is for sure!
most i got into her was 1350mAh, and i had to take an solderiron to it too make it fit.
it did NOT extend flighttime, cause the heavier battery costed me about 20%propulsion.
so NO. i doubt she would stay in the air with a 1500mAh accu
I put together this Plane perfect Fit nice only one problem the left wing was twist I am trying to fix with milld and hot water 2 peice off wood bouth side off wing not much result yet
me 2..
gently overbend it in other direction, about 5%.
keep in place with two breakfast-placemats, weights, clothespinnes or rubber bands.
keep them overnight, check next morning, do again if neccesary.
u'll be fine
Merci I did what you told me Over night what I see on the Vidé*o Bouth wing are Strait On my f 8 crusader Bouth wing are bend down and lleft wing is more douwn I did not fly it yet i will let you no on the next work on it Merci Fernand
By Jolly! youre correct! What a Bastid! This is sacrilege! I was getting enthused about my favorite gun-fighter so low priced as ARF ductedfan...
now thats been ripped out of me (hangs head) (slowly looks back up) (very sinister and creepy facial expression) But, I can take a knife to it and glue if needed, to convert this already similar aircraft to an F-8 proper. and...then... you can say youve really done something!
have you folks noticed that this is actualy an A7 corsair ll, if you don't believe me look for your self. the intake is a little oversized but the proportions are otherwise A7 not F8.
There is a reason why the pilots called the A7 SUFF. It is esentialy a shorter version of the F8. this aircraft was built for range and close ground suport,it has a larger engine made for slower speed, greater thrust without AB, vulcan 20mm cannon, 6 pilons, and the first aircraft to get the H.U.D. out of the gate, these are the most visable features. Short Ugly Fat F... but respect the Suff.
Yup. You can tell people who really aren't "into" aviation have a hand in these projects when they come up with stuff like this. I'm still waiting for a model of a real F-8.... And it would be nice in a larger size, too.
So I take it that on a test glide it flies nice and straight and with power it pulls off to the right, not really sure what the answer is but try launching it slightly left wing low and slightly to the left of the headwind,by the time it levels out and turns into wind it will have more airspeed which will make the fin etc start to work and it may then straighten out, make sure you keep the nose down a bit to get some decent airspeed.
EDF have short wing spans so you need a lot of speed to keep it flying and if you try to turn too sharply it will stall. I say start out with an EDF or pusher with a relatively long wing span, slower too get yourself familiarize with elevon controls. Get on the simulator to get yourself acquainted with the faster reaction time associated with EDFs.
SammyC I do not like to dissagree with Ezekiel Hoe BUT. I the "FILES" tab above is the manual for the 20a ESC. In that it make it clear the this ESC can take 2 to 4 LIPOS. So I see no reason why it would burn with 4s. I hope this helps and I have not upset anyone.
A fan blade fell off so I have now order:
Hobbyking 50mm Alloy EDF V2 4200kv (4s Version)(PRODUCT ID:107000043)
To be installed in this lady.
I will let u know if the ESC will handle the 4S setup.
Looking for an upgraded motor and edf for this. I had a mini T-45 and the fan unit blew itself to bits stock.
I know HK sell a replacement 50mm edf product No. 4501, but this won't fit original motor.
Motor KDA 20-30 product No. 4493 recommended, but never in stock!
HELP PLEASE!! I want to get thses 2 planes flying again!!
Just nabbed this little fella as a freebie :)
does the ESC have a JST connecter on it as standard? Need to know so I can make sure batteries I have ordered are correct.

Agree. Not for beginners at all. As Maumy suggested, the Bixler would be excelent, also the AXN Floater Jet which is a very similar design to the Bixler would be very good.
Who cares when it's free. Have you heard the saying never look a gif horse in the mouth. Besides all that they were out of stock as well when I put my order in and it still only took 3 days from order to shipped. There's just no pleasing some people
So you are saying that your F-8 has shipped Sawdust? No need to get on your high horse BTW, it was just an observation as my order placed at the same time as yours is still in processing. Although it could be due to the Stinger jet that was also JIT.
greengo, the only reason it's ugly and way out of scale is because it was actualy designed to work. You'll probably love flying it if you give it a chance.
received it today and its a beauty by its own class. typical jet style. small wings long body. should be a very fast one if it flies. Unfortunately Im a sentimental flyer.
Received mine the other day, very well packed, perfect condition, thanks HK. Looks very 'cute' out of the box, nice details. Will assemble this week and give new review........

Assembly completed today....a few hick ups discovered while working. The 850mA batterie does not fit under the canopy, so had to carve out some foam from canopy and fuse, and fitted a Rhino 1050mA in. With that the CG is spot on. Rest of the assembly is a piece a cake.......
very tight space to fit the receiver....... weight ready to fly comes in at 383g with 1050mA Battery......would still give it *****.....
Maiden hopefully this weekend, weather permitting.....its raining cats and dogs every day here in T-Land......

This is a fantastic model for the price!
Quality: 4.5/5. It is worth more than what I paid for it after shipping. Very well molded, glued parts are done well (some very minor miss-alignments), only disappointment was the EDF case was a bit egg shaped inside. Very tough plane. Battery compartment is very tight for 1000 mA 3 cell.
Visually: 4.5/5. Very well detailed. Even though it is not to scale, it does look nice held in the hand.
Weight: 5/5. Very light, COG is 84mm from LE along the fuselage edge. Perfectly balanced with 1000 ma.
Transportability: 5/5. It is tiny! You can even disassemble, but there is no need for it.
Repair ability: ? 5/5 ?. I haven't damaged mine yet. But everything looks very accessible. Even the EDF can be replaced if need be.
Instructions: 5/5. Almost any newbie will be able to assemble this kit. It is proof-read and it all makes sense! Lots of photos! (Black and white)
Sound: 4/5. Its an EDF. It does however REALLY scream! Very loud for its size.
Flyability: 4.5/5. It needs a very good hand launch! My friend did launch it for me the first 2 times. First time it wasn't successful so I asked him to throw hard and throw slightly up! :) It wants to roll really easy. Once I got it trimmed out, I was really really happy with how it flies! Well mannered if you have enough speed. It was variable 10 kt winds here and it did not matter mu

Ok, I have flown this model some more... This time I was hand launching this model myself. THIS IS NOT EASY, IT NEEDS LOTS OF SPEED. The flight is very fast paced for a model this size... The aileron rate is quick, the size of the elevator is a bit of a 'problem'. You need to maximize the throw length on your elevator otherwise you will be making large bank turns with 50 elevator just to keep it level.
Use minimum 3rd hole on the elevator horn.
Another method you might want to try to elevate the problem (LOL sorry!) is to have the aileron mixing help the elevators. I tried this aswell and it works. Your ailerons want to copy your elevator movement. (~30 Up on ailerons = 100 up on elevator is a good starting point)

Hi everybody,
I love this plane, it's not a scale but i find it very good looking.
Arrived at home well packed and mounting was so easy!
I was very impatient to fly with a bunch of brand new nano-techs 850mAh.
Launching is the key for this model. I was helped for this by a friend who has a large experience in handlaunching. First attempt was to optimistic : throttle at the middle, a gentle throw and a big mistake : i've tryed to make i climb to early. The result was a nice seven meters stall and a big bump on the nose.
One of the good aspect of this was to test the durabily of the EPO. It's realy nice and strong.
For the second attemp at put the throttle at the maximum and ask my friend to launch the plane more horizontaly...with strength. This was the one!
Immediately i feel that the plane needs more power. i think it needs a 4s battery. But the problem is to put a 4s in a so tiny space. And i even don't know is the motor accept this voltage?!
I also affraid of the missile aspect of this plane, a rocket tube with tiny wings to prevent it to turn but it flies great!!! very cool sensation, easy to keep in line...no stress at all. In fact the most difficult part of the fly is the launching.
Anyone knows if i can test it on 4s?
Last but not least : fly time is about 2minutes with my 3s 850mAh. Quite short :(
Conclusion : this plane is very nice and i love it.
