How can I get a manual for a HK-7X 2.4Ghz 7ch w/ 5 Model Memory TX & RX V2 (Mode 2). I seem to have misplaced mine and the disk also.

friends, when it will arrive rx in stock, anyone know. and why this Rx and so expensive, it would not be better turnigy 9ch the rx and cheaper.
   r_g_r (90%)
They usually restock the HK-7X very quickly. When I ordered mine it was on BK too, 5 days later new stock arrived. The Turnigy 9x now includes a module (which it did not until a few weeks ago). So with the included module it's an option now. Nevertheless it's not in stock either. And a lot of people reported huge software problems with the Turnigy 9x (lot of features not working at all or not correctly). I haven't heard from any real owner if those problems where fixed in the latest Turnigy 9x version.

When I turn on my Tx I get thro and a warning signal until I move the right stick around in a circle and then the Tx binds and I am set to go. Is this a normal procedure or do I have something not set right?
   Georgy G. (34%)
i have the analogus case. It heavy irritate every time.
   r_g_r (90%)
Maybe you've set your mode wrong? You might want to got in the "S3" menu and change it to eight mode 1 (throttle on the right side) or mode 2 (throttle on the left side).

lluisllr (67%)
The battery and charger are included?
   jdlilfan (100%)
Nope.
   r_g_r (90%)
No. You get the transmitter, one receiver, a bing plug and a CD with the manual. You might take a look into the "VIDEOS" tab. I've uploaded an "unboxing" video which shows what you get.

jdlilfan (100%)
This transmitter has a 7 model memory. Not 5! I have 3 v2 receivers. They work great with the memory. Wish the price would come down a little bit on the recievers. Almost $30 when the DSM2 one is $15 and the turnigy is $10. Also wish there was more in stock. Pretty good transmitter though. Wish there was flap mixing though and a better more thorough user manual.
   Lanell (59%)
I agree its a good transmitter. did you get a manual with it? If not then you can download a copy of the KDSmodel**** one appears to be the same unit. hope this helps.
   jdlilfan (100%)
I did get the mini cd with the manual but it doesn't go into much detail in setting dual rates and mixes and what ALL of the codes mean?
   r_g_r (90%)
I've got a mini cd with mine too. The manual on the CD is very detailed! Everything including what the codes mean and also the dual-rates is described in the manual very good (but dual-rates are not that hard to setup up, you just set the dual-rates percentage for aileron, elevator and ruder). BTW: The manual from my CD is the same which you can also download here from the "FILES" tab.

Wishes to the manufacturer. The RC equipment is reliable and attractive, but nevertheless it makes sense to expand a ruler at the expense of compatibility increase between let out RC systems. It will give the chance an additional choice and as consequence increase of interest to production of increase in demand. And to us to buyers, flexibility and convenience of operation. I think, all me will support.

Hi. I have a problems in control the Support 5 points throttle(THR) and the Support 5 points pitch(PIT. I can not merged into this menu.
   r_g_r (90%)
When powering up your TX the display should read "H1". If it does not, please change the model type to heli. If your model is set to "Helicopter Mode", press "UP" and "DN" several times simultaneously until the display reads "CN1" that's the throttle curve. Press "UP" and "DN" simultaneously until the display reads "PN1" that's the pitch curve. Press "UP" or "DN" to change between the five points. Use "INC" or "DEC" to move the selected point up or down on the selected curve.

I noticed that this radio channel is set up in five key Idle-Up. The channel 7 is right. I discovered this because I use the Simulator, and to throw him the key of Idle-Up Channel 5 move the bar. I wonder, how do I get the key channel 5 Idle-Up and put in the right key, or key combined channel 5 / 7.

I Bind the right HKX 7V2* turn off the TX and call again and he loses because they bind?
7/4/2010
vistastang (75%)
I cannot get it to bind!! As soona as I plug in the ESC it starts to blink 3 times a second. I plug in the bind plug (which appears to have no effect) and then I go thru the bind routing. The RF LED rapidly blinks and the RX just continues to blinks unchanged!! So frustrating!!
   callelj (0%)
I have the exact same problem! Cannot get it to bind anymore! What to do? Return it?
   r_g_r (90%)
I have the HK-7Xv2 and binding has never been a problem. Try this: Turn everything off (TX & RX). Insert Bind-Plug into RX. Now connect the RX to ESC. Hold Bind-Button on TX. Power on TX. Keep holding the Bind-Button. Wait for the flashing light of the RX to change. Release the Bind-Button. That's it!!! If yours wont bind with the procedure you might have a defect TX or RX.
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   vistastang (75%)
I used the above instructions and it finally worked. Not sure what matters or not but I did NOT have the motor wired, I did see the receiver blink twice slowly going thru the bind routine but the blue transmitter light continued to blink rapidly throught. I held the bind button for about a minute got bored and released it. The receiver light went steady and it was binded. Hope this helps. Thanks r_g_r!
   callelj (0%)
Thanks r_g_r, it worked for me too! The description in the manual is wrong!
   mikec@aloha.net (0%)
i have never had problems with my receiver binding. is this a brand new receiver and transmitter that you are binding?
   vistastang (75%)
Yes, this is a new TX & RX. The problem was they were telling you to insert the bind plug AFTER powering up the ESC instead of BEFORE.

How do I know if I have a V2 (version 2) or not? According to HK's billing I have a V2 Tx and a non-V2 Rx (separately bought later after the first Rx did not work and was returned)* but it binds and flies fine. So some product ID must be wrong: what do I have? Where can I see the "thruth" on these things? They all look the same to me.
   r_g_r (90%)
Don't care about HK's billing. They seam to sometimes print old product names. In my case the invoice said HK-7X although I got the V2 transmitter. Just read what's written on the stickers of the transmitter and the receiver! Both should be labeled the same way, either "V2" or without V2. In the video section I've uploaded a video "Unboxing the HobbyKing HK-7X v2", there you can see closeup shots of both the V2 transmitter and the V2 receiver. As sown there, both of my parts carry the "V2" tag on their stickers. What's written on the stickers of your TX and RX?
This customer was awarded a credit for their answer.
   belgianbuzzer (34%)
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I assumed that the "names" on the Tx & Rx would give a clue. Now I know: no V2 to be seen anywhere on mine, so I have the 'normal' version. What's the difference anyway between the two? Is the V2 better, newer?
   r_g_r (90%)
Yes you're right, no "V2" on the sticker means 'normal' version. In that case you need to get a HK-8X (none V2) receiver in order to bind successfully. I've tries several times to find out the difference between the HK-7X and HK-7Xv2. Unfortunately nobody at HobbyKing's CS seams to know. While the V2 is definitely newer, I don't know if it's also "better" ...

I need smaller (less weight) receiver for in-door plane. Is there any solution available? Is HK-8X the only receiver which is compatible with HK-7X transmitter?
   siwy (-825%)
they are not compatible
   mathijs727 (-42%)
i've heard that the corona V2 transmitters work on this TX.
So you have choice of 4 / 6 / 8 channel receivers.
   r_g_r (90%)
mathijs727: Where did you hear about the corona receivers? Because this is totally wrong!!! The ONLY receivers compatible to the HK-7X are the HK-8X receivers. Even more there are to versions of these receivers which are not compatible to each other. So you need to make sure you get the HK-8X or the HK-8Xv2 depending on you transmitter being a HK-7X or a HK-7Xv2.
   thang25 (-100%)
For the HK-7X V2 transmitter, you would need a HK-8X V2. HK-7X is compatible with HK-8X only.

I have a serious problem, I will appreciate any help.
After binding the receiver and connecting everything properly, I move the throttle stik and the motor starts to vibrate without rotating, I tried 3 different motors and two different batteries but the same, tried to change all the setting from the rx but the same, I tried to change my ESC to hard timing and soft timing. The same!!!!
My current setup is
2200MAH 20C, otter 40A esc, Turingy 1500 kv. The mode on the transmitter is for delta wing plane.
Please help. Is it because of my remote control or esc?
   jacost (43%)
Seems like it is a problem with your esc, have you tried a different esc?
   Kingofbad (86%)
Nit really, i dont have another one. i will buy new one. note that i have connected a servo to the 3rd channel and pluged the esc to the battery channel, the servo works along with the throttle-up and down with the sane degree"i guess 45 degree" so would be that an indecator that the esc is faulty? note that i programmed it without beeps, it didnt give any peebs!
so what do you think?
Thank you very much for spending time writting yor openion.

Did you remembered to change the settings from heli to airplane?
   iceman09 (45%)
esc is shorted somewhere it sounds like does the esc go through proper test mode
   Loose_Moose (19%)
Something similar happened to my buddy. It's an esc problem. It's just that the motor experiences very bad cogging. I use a more expensive Castle Thunderbird esc on my plane and with the old firmware it had a tiny bit of cogging, but I updated the firmware it's all fixed. To fix my buddy's we usually just spin the motor shaft a little bit until it starts spinning.

experienced the same turned out the switches on the top both should be in the away (back) position

Can I use my HK-7X for a simulator like FMS or HeliSimRC?
If yes, what cable do I need for this?
   r_g_r (90%)
Phoenix RC sim already comes with a matching cable. For other simulators you'll need to get a simulator cable for the "KDS K-6X" or the "KDS K-7X" transmitter. Unfortunately HK does not offer such a cable. But you can get it from eBay or an other shop.

BTW: Don't forget to set the transmitter to PPM mode otherwise it will not work!
   Jolly Jumper (22%)
Would you have a link to a picture of the jack attached to the USB cable? On eBay, most cables are made for brands like JR/Spektrum, Futaba, ESky, etc.
Not one of them mentions anything about KDS.
   r_g_r (90%)
Hmm, I've found several here on ebay.de:
For instance Article number: 350287157418
Just enter the article number into the ebay's search field. That should lead you directly to it.
Don't know if there are sellers from your country.

The simulator cord must have a 3.5mm mono audio plug.
   siwy (-825%)

I think I found the answer from hobbyking forum for you below here. The cable $2.99 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9043&Product_Name=Hobby_King_2.4Ghz_6Ch_Tx_USB_Cable_for_Win2000/XP You can use this cable for FMS and Aerofly simulator. Tested and working. You need the following software: 1) PPJoy from http://shareware.pcmag.com/free/Miscellaneous-Utilities/PPJoy/75176.html 2) T6sim from http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=13067693&postcount=1938 3) t6config program from: http://www.flysky-cn.com/pic/down/FS-CT6ADriver.rar (do not use the driver included with this download, but use the one below) 4) USB cable driver from https://www.silabs.com/Support Documents/Software/CP210x_VCP_Win2K_XP_S2K3.zip When using the simulator, you must have t6sim running so as to config the usb port to accept the joystick. Works like a charm!! Good luck!!

Reply to thang25: Please don't post if you don't know what you're talking about! This cable is for a completely different transmitter. Not even the connector matches the HK-7X!

I think it uses the 11.1V battery. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7346
5/12/2010
Jolly Jumper (22%)
The manual states that the transmitter needs 11.6V to make it work like it should.

A Rhino 11.1V LiPo is probably no problem to use in this transmitter as the difference is very small.

But what about rechargeable AA batteries? Can you actually use these? Rechargeables are only 1.2V, making a total of 9.6V for the transmitter to use.

Does aynone know?

I would like to use the "Turnigy AA LSD 2200mah Low Self Discharge (ready to use)" with this transmitter.
   shadowind (12%)
I use AA Ni-MH batteries and voltage is between 10 and 11 V ... it works very well ! they are 1.2V ... but the radio gives 1V less than precise measuring on mine.
   robertocasper (14%)
I am using AA batteries. Power meter reads more than 10V on display of HK 7x when fully charged. Put bat. alarm setting of hk7x on 9V. No problems. So AA rechargeable batteries work fine in this transmitter.
   X-ray (78%)
I used Duracell 1.2 batteries and it worked well. However the batteries do not last that long. Here in Canada for 8 batt we pay 10 bucks. So doing the math it worth buying a Zippy transmitter LiPo for 19 bucks. Its rechargeable, lasts longer between charges and is more reliable than a NiMh.
   TheShorts (8%)
I use regular alkaline batteries, but have an alkaline re-charger. That thing paid for itself about a month after I got it.
   Felipeverza (20%)
The control works fine with AA batteries. Youll need 8 AA batteries. The control came with an adaptor to them.

New to 2.4. Can I bind this transmitter to more than one receiver**-so I don't have to keep moving the reciever around everytime I change aircraft?
   Sunny (28%)
I just thought into this more deeply. Would I be able to bind this to several RX's at once so I don't have to bind everytime I want to fly something different? Or will I have to bind it to another Rx everytime i switch aircraft? Thanks
   r_g_r (90%)
*) First you need to select the model in the transmitter's menu.
*) Then follow the bind instructions.
-> This will associate the currently selected model with the just bound receiver. Other models stored in the transmitter's memory are not affected.

The transmitter stores the receiver's serial number together with the rest of the currently selected model's settings. Switching the model on the transmitter will also change the receiver to which the transmitter emits the signals.
   Sunny (28%)
Thanks..I can bind 5 Rx's. Now just got to wait for the Rx's to be in stock. Thanks again.
   r_g_r (90%)
Please note, that HK does not (yet?) sell receivers which are compartible to the "HK-7X V2" transmitter.

The listed HK-8X receiver is only compartible to the "HK-7X" not to this "HK-7X V2".

it is on the manual (on cd) ... defaults are if a remember : DA0=100 DA1=70 DE0=100 DE1=70 DR0=100 DR1=70 or inverse ... the radio make a difference between the values ... 0 -> dual rate disabled, 1 -> dual rate enabled, A as ailerons E as elevator ...

Is to change the travel of each command. You can set it up to make easier to control the aircraft if the full command make it too much responsive.
   TONY.ALVES (55%)
Just to set the course of the airplane controls different. Exemple : if you need less rudder just configure the radio settings on less percentage on dual rate mode, then you can change the stick position on your tx and the control ratio will be decreased. You can even change it flying to control your plane easier.

DA0 and DA1 - Dual Rate from Aileron DE0 and DE1 - Dual Rate from Elevon Dr0 and Dr1 - Dual Rate from Rudder 0 is the Dual rate in off position 1 is the Dual rate in on position

   ANARIT-119 (37%)

   Jonis (34%)
Tks!! I'll use only for my helis. :)
   Joao (64%)
hey! I brought one of this and the range if very good! I say 1.2 km at least. I'm using it to fly with a calmato sport 40 glow, and this radio is as good as a futaba or similar. I strongly recommend.
   paul (25%)
probably 300MTRs
   Kingofbad (86%)
i tried it in open area it was up to 1.2 KM it could go more but that would be risky,by the way it matters where you are using it, near the sea shore or the desert, day or evening, the best rande is during evening time in very flat areas

   r_g_r (90%)
Just look above *)
It says "Early April"
   cesar mosart (10%)
I know, but this Tx is made by HobbyKing. Why has long time to sell a product made by himself?
   r_g_r (90%)
Sorry but you're wrong, it just has a HK sticker on it...
It's a re-branded KDS transmitter.

I really want to know why hobbycity made one reciver for only one TX. Why they are not compatible with others transmitters from the same brand? This does not happens in others brands. I'm asking because if each new radio I have to buy another reciver, so I prefer to buy another brand even if it is more expensive, because then I would not have to change all rx for all my models every time I buy a new TX.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so.
   shorebird (66%)
This is dumb but it happens with other brands. Futaba just came out with a cheap system not compatible with their higher priced system.

Will the HK-7X work with any other receivers than the HK-8X? If it worked with HK-6ch or other 6 channel receivers that would be more useful with smaller planes.
   mathijs727 (-42%)
it works with the HK-8X, AND i've heard it works with corona V2 receivers too.
So youy can use 4ch receiver for smaller planes

I buy HK7x-M2, now in testing, but when I try binding the receptor led shines twice as slowly, as shown in step 3 of the manual, and continues flashing approximately 1Hz.
Trying several times the binding is completed, but when it gets about 20 meters distant communication is lost, the receiver starts flashing led.
I wonder if there is any recommendation for the use which might be going unnoticed?

And Tr bought came with the problem, it did not work, I sent several emails complaining and HK merely send automatic email asking to send back, so the cost of return is greater than buy another. Do not recommend. Volpato
