After receiving my turnigy-watt-meter i checked this motor wit a 5x5-prop (Hobbyking) and a 3C-Kokam 30C on a Turnigy Plush 40A. The motor takes 32Amps, voltage about 10,6V. So it might be possible to run it with 4C and a slightly smaller prop and an ESC about 60 Amps. I fly this motor in my Projeti with that prop and 3C-battery and it runs very impressive, speed about 160 km/h.

This motor will work with 4S, but you will not find a prop that can handle that. With a 4,75x4,75 you will be highter than 60A...

My test on 4S Turnigy 3.6ah with APC 4.75x4.75 shows 55A * 840W, plan to use on my funjet.

Has anyone tried this on a 4s to see if it holds up? This would be the true proof it this motor is any good.

I am looking, too. Models like Slipso 400 or Speedster 400 would do, these are cheap planes build out of balsa, plans can be downloaded. These planes are for Brush 400-motors, but with such a thing these planes will go like rockets, i think.

My speedster 400 is ready now, i run it with a HXT 2835-motor (2700U/V), but with some changes (fuselage must be bigger) this motor will also fit. The first flight is a problem due to bad weather here in germany, perhaps i can fly the next year, perhaps next week, who knows? The speedster is easy to build from balsa-wood. Speedster 400

I would love to know if this motor can handle 4S and a 5*5 prop for my Funjet. Looking forward to hearing from people who bought them already.

I think iff you have a 3S lipo and a 5.5x5.5 cam speed prop on it, this thing wil go fast. Did someone tested this, let me now. Only the fan inside the motor thakes also power away, less power to the prop :(, less speed.

My impeller does not touch the CU-wires. Seem to be differences from motor to motor. A way might be to dissassemble the motor and put in something that avoids that.

I'm using one in a jet boat, which is "pusher" mode. I squirt CRC on the bearings after each run, and have been giving it an average of 3 runs each day, the boat runs in salt water. My impeller is high pitch, around 22mm. I get a little extra cooling to my one, because I made my mount out of non etched circuitboard material, with the motor secured to the copper side, and side flanges soldered out a way. The fan outlet blows on all this area, increasing the cooling efficiency. After a 3S x 2.2 amp hour run, the motor is hot, but I don't burn myself on it.

This would fit inside a 68-70mm fan unit, it says only for 3s1p, but will test my 2 when they get here on 4s1p as a 3200kv that can handle 60amp is a good setup for 600+ watts. I wouldnt say this is a 2W-20 equivilent as the windings are different and the 2W-20 is designed for 4s1p. My tests will reveal what it is capable of. The turnigy 2836-3200kv motor cooks on 4s1p but as this has a internal fan it should make a serious difference as this is very little cooling over a edf motor due to the lack of space between the housing and the motor.

Any idea what size prop this motor would work with? It'd work great on a larger glider I bet!

Prop size should be around 4 to 5" of diameter, I guess. This motor should be well suited for speed airplanes, not for gliders unless you use a gearbox. Please note that it is a 3200Kv motor!

Vicltruong is right, the impeller is there to aid cooling by drawing cool air through the back of the motor over the coils and out sides, this motor would best suit rc cars as they need all the cooling they can get

The impeller is used for cooling the motor, it is a tangential impeller.
