Mod 1 is Module 1. Used in metric which is basically by formula, Module = (25.4/DP). DP is the diametral pitch(english). Say 32dp = 0.8 Mod. So basically MOD 1 has a bigger tooth than 32 pitch.
i dont think your be able to do it with out any fancy equipment. what do you need to harden it more for. it comes hardened and im using a few of these with steel spur gears and they are still like new. nearly 2 years use
yeah these are fine to use with steel gears. i use a couple hobbyking pinions with steel spurs gears and they are still like new. just make sure you fit the pinion with the correct gap and your have no problems
Is there anywhere you know I could get one - or is there a way of adapting?
Would the teeth work with the spur gear on the diff at any rate - if that works, there is probably some way to shim it.
you can get brass tube that fits over the motor shaft and has a 5mm outside diameter and drill a hole in it so the grub screw fits throw and clamp onto the motor shaft. and have a look on ebay for pinions that fit. the size you need are normally pinions used on 540 brushed motors as brushed motors have a smaller shaft hope this helps
you can buy a sleeve adaptor but i dont think hk**** sell them, i got mine at a local hobby shop to put this pinion on a hpi bullet, 3mm shaft but it uses m1 pitch, this gear works perfect with the adaptor sleeve
Yes, it will, Mod1 is the correct pitch for trooper. But note, that stock trooper pinion has 14 tooth, this one is 13T, your car will become a bit slower.
That pinion is made for 550 class motor with 5mm motor shaft diameter and module 1M(used in 1/8 cars).
Trooper's motor is 540 class motor with 3.17mm motor shaft diameter. Trooper's pinion is module 0.8M. That means it doesn't work in the trooper. Sorry. But there is the original pinion here. []'s
I pulled out the stock pinion from my trooper today and was really amazed, motor shaft has 5mm diameter, but it reduced to 3.175 on the end where pinion is fixed. So I was wrong, stock pinion is 3.175mm. I think, it's better to change motor for a normal with 5mm shaft, because there is no mod1 3.175mm pinions anywhere.

Yes, since all those good motors are only for 5mm shaft.
WE NEED 0.6MOD (TAMIYA) PINIONS FOR 5MM!!!
Sorry for shouting, but honestly all those hobbywing/ezrun motors (3.17mm shaft) are horrible for offroad. Only good motor I have found are with 5mm shafts :/
Do u have 10T 11T 12T 13T ? Are this pinion surface harden ? Thanks .

3 thumbs up!
It stay in life only one run ! I heard a very bad sound, When I check in my car I find some dust pinion everywhere in my car and all teeth are sharpened lik a knife !!!
I think it's important to renforced them if they want to sell it.
Car spec : Crt.5 (1/12 car) with hobby city material. All is good except this pinion gear.
i have a 5mm 48steel pinion gear. i use it for a brushless boat. and so far it's very good. i did one thing.. i heated the gear at around 1000degrease celsius and then cool it down. and that did the job prety good. it's been 3 mounth since i use it every weekend.
