Can somebody please explain why this need need to be connected with the bec, can it not work without taking the power straight from the battery and without bec/esc?
 satnaam 8 points
You need to have your ground at same level. The RX ground and battery ground. This is why the BEC works, it keeps the ground at same level.
 Las Vegas 11 points
Hello karan538, it is not necessary to connect the switch to a BEC. The three coloured wires going to the switch are a signal a positve and a negative to drive the circuitry. The two larger wires on the opposite end is the "switch". When the circuit receives a signal to turn the switch on current can flow between the two larger wires. As long as you have some knowledge on electric circuits you can connect this switch in many other different ways. Las Vegas
 Las Vegas 11 points
Further to my other post, be aware that all electrical circuits have a working voltage range (perhaps 5v to 6v). This unit may work at 4.8v to 8.4v but I am not testing this theory as too much voltage could damage the unit. Las Vegas

Can you explain in detail how the jumper settings in the instructions work?
 Las Vegas 11 points
Hello Bob, the jumpers are fail safe conditions and are as follows* both jumpers removed - last situation* only the bottom jumper removed -switch off* only the top jumper removed - switch on* both jumpers connected - on/off alternately. The "top" which I am refering to is the side with the wires connected. Las Vegas

thank you for the info so that mean that no power from the from the two wire that go to the load do not have power coming out of them from the bec 3 wire they just do the switch off and on and that it. I want to use it for turn light off and on from my 3racing light kit by cutting the ground wire from the light then self and turn then off and on like a realy switch.
 Las Vegas 11 points
Hello Russell, many people would use this switch to turn the lights on and off in their remote controlled vehicle. Las Vegas

P.S. Yes

douse this switch work like the PicoSwitch radio controlled relay switch?
 Las Vegas 11 points
Hello Russell, to operate this switch you would connect the unit as per the diagram available on the link below the picture. Once connected turining the switch on is a matter of moving the input on your transmitter passed 50%. If you are using a three way switch down is -100%, middle is 0% and up is 100%. This means that the switch would turn on once the switch is in the up position. Some computerised transmitters can be programed to alter these settings. The switch itself does not allow any current to flow unless it is activated, just like a household light switch. A relay switch mechanically throws and electromangnet to switch on an item, meaning that the current running through the relay does not actually go through to the device you are operating. This device is more like an electronic gate that allows current to flow when you tell it. Las Vegas

Agony for a week and do not resolve the question. It can be controlled independent power for? Manual, which is to install a BEC. I am an independent power supply on / off, I'd like to ... And the connection between this product to work with BEC power devices. The 3 pinseon connected to a three-channel receiver, and tried to take action. Does not work at all. Just like the manual minus the receiver and BEC to be connected? The BEC also be purchased separately? I am a simple channel signal circuit, such as relays, on / off, but it is thought ... Failure is ever wanted to have one more extra.

Guys, need help. Everything is right connected, but i get 7v output from the switch, not 12v... is it broken?
 TiesTorN 2 points
because receiver outputs that much ?

Excellent accessory for connecting LED lights and various electrical drives.
Russell  2 points - 4/25/2013

do you have to use the voltage from the esc led all ready get power from the light kit?
 Roger 2288 points
Yes, voltage from ESC powers the circuit for the electronic switch. LED are powered by a different power source.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can anybody provide a wiring diagram with two different kind of batteries? (in my case 3S and 4S) thank so very much to whom will help me
 Roger 2288 points
Mode 2 operation is what you want, if you don't have the manual, refer to the file "Turnigy Receiver Controlled Switch Manua" in the Files (purple) tab and look see MODE 2 for the wiring diagram.
 Chumba 1 points
Thank you very much for your answer, i've seen the MODE 2 diagram with the "-" cables plugged together but *Drugos down says I will damage my devices... who have I to believe to?
 Roger 2288 points
I can confirm that you will have to connect the negative wires together, or else the receiver won't switch on. The negative wire is its reference to zero volts and won't trigger without it connected. I just followed the wiring guide in the manual and it works.
 Roger 2288 points
Just carefully check everything and make sure that all is according to the diagram and it will work.
Chumba  1 points - 4/16/2013

i've looked at the video, but i'm not sure to have understood correctly... is it possible to find somewhere a diagram as the one which is published here? I've understood that negative have to be in common, but i don't know how to do with my configuration THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I've read the discussions below, and i've looked at the wiring diagram but still i'm not totally sure so please give me a confirmation: My hexa works with a 4S 5000 mah battery, but i want to use a 3S 2200 battery to power leds, under one of those switches* can i plug in common the ground (-) cable of those different batteries??? And connect ( ) to different devices, as showed in the diagram? Will it work? Will I damage something? TY very much
 grieverance 31 points
So far works for me. But i use a lower range of power capacity
 Drugos 1975 points
No,don't connect the - cables together.Just use your 4S battery for your hexacopter and the 3S battery for the lights.Watch my video in the video section of this page (It is the yellow one).

Can this be hooked up to a power distribution lead, I need at least 4 leads to my lighting.
 Aefer 233 points
I dont see why not. my setup goes through the switch, then a soldered connection branching out 4 ways (top, bottom, left, right of wing). hope this answers your question

I use this switch in my rc-boat to operate smoke generator. I have triple power system... 2 x 7.4V circuits for motors and RX, 12V circuit for smoke and waterpump. This switch handles very well load from my self-made "smoker", which includes a glow wire and 2 blowers. I'm not sure how much is the load, but no problems yet. Just remember to connect grounds together from both powersystems, master and slave.
Edward  14 points - 4/6/2013

I have a couple these on the way. I will be using this with a lighting kit I purchased that can only run at 6v max. If I use the Turnigy switch in conjunction with a 4s lipo, won't my lights burn out? I don't see a way to for this switch to act as a BEC if you will. Am I correct for those that have used this?
 Italo 30 points
You are right, there is no way to use this switch as BEC. but there is a lot of options to turn around this problem, you can use it with other power source, like 4.8V batteries or a voltage regulator (LM7505), even use your own BEC that's probably inside your ESCs. Just reminding, never use your lighting kit directly in your 4s battery, it's gonna burn.
 Drugos 1975 points
They will burn.
 __Okdi 51 points
you are correct, this is NO BEC! It simply leads the voltage of the battery that is connected to it to the output pin of it, thats all. It does not make any voltage adjustments! BUT, you can also use the 5V from the receiver's supply as power source (instead of a battery) to be switched. Then you will have 5V at the switch's output.
 Edward 14 points
*_Okdi- Hmm, thanks! I didn't even consider using the reciever as the source.
Jeandredubois  20 points - 4/6/2013

I got mine working ( 2nd worked, 1st was broken) But mine switches the leds on & then after a few minutes the leds goes off-on-off & then stays on. After a minute or 2 same thing. Thats not cool especially when its dark outside & no way to tell which way the plane is going. Both jumpers are on the switch. Switch is on my flaps/gear ch Is there something i have to change?
 RCplaneman 40 points
I believe they alternate between flashing and solid.. in other words when power is added the switch sends continuous power. when you unplug the battery and plug it back in, the switch goes to flashing, and repeats every time you re plug in a battery it changes modes. check your connection to make sure there not disconnecting.
 __Okdi 51 points
sounds to me like you are loosing rc-signal from time to time?
 Jeandredubois 20 points
How can i loose signal when the lights are plugged in directly to the battery? The switch is only on or off. It happens randomly when i fly close to me but up high no problem.

The last time I waited 3 months until the item is back in stock. I immediately ordered 2. After 2 weeks, all sold out... more than 3 thousand.

Yeah but my plane has room for At lesat one more servo after fixing one for my glow driver I wound up mixing flaps ch and throttle to make my glow driver automatic I Didnt Need It Through the whole throttle range but needed it at idle to prevent fuel puddling on my inverted 4 stroke so with the servo and sub micro switch I now have glow driver set up when its on it comes on automaticaly at 3/8 throttle to low Idle and turns off above half throttleI it run smooth as silk at idle now not rough and then dies once and a while I love to dead stick land but was not to happy to be forced to to because of dead engine and the turnigy nano tech 3000mah battery I run on driver lets me run all day on one charge well iv ran up to 8 tanks of fuel on it so far with this setup on one charge

What is the shipping status on this item?
 lildevilx 212 points
if you're slightly tech savvy enough, and/or can't wait for this to get in stock, i suggest you go look up servo switch :), there are easy ways to mod a servo into a switch like this one~~

If i have navi lights as one system and landing lights as another, can i control both seperatly with 1 of this
 Roger 2288 points
No you can't. You should use the multi-channel RC switch. This one. Multi-Remote Receiver operated on/off Switch PRODUCT ID: M_Fswitch
 Heino77 3 points
i can´*t use the multi remote,it only turn all lights on and off..it dosent work the right way.. i have a 3 way switch on tx that should work like 1-Off 2-navi lights on 3-landing on
 Roger 2288 points
This RC switch is only for on/off switching, sort of a toggle switch. Maybe you can use a relay to achieve what you want.
 Heino77 3 points
i might use 2 then, one for landing light and one for navi and strobe...relay is not an option for me
 malerlrn 33 points
Heino77 3 points i can´**t use the multi remote,it only turn all lights on and off..it dosent work the right way.. i have a 3 way switch on tx that should work like 1-Off 2-navi lights on 3-landing on that Works ... !!!

Can I use it for a GAS ignition ?
 Las Vegas 11 points
Hello Alisson, if you question is "can I connect this switch up to my CDI to turn it off and on?" Then the answer is yes. Please ensure that you have the correct voltage entering the switch so you do not damage your CDI.(This means a voltage that is correctly rated to your CDI which is usually 4.8v to 6.0v.). Las Vegas

Most leds cant be dimmed They Have A Very Narrow Operating Voltage Range Threshold Leds Powered By A Conntroller Will Try And Hold A Set Voltage Till Voltage Reachs The LOw Voltage Threshold Then Will Often Blink Or Quit All Together Till Correct voltage is restored
Jeremy  4 points - 3/8/2013

Since HK Is Taking There own sweet time restocking these i made my own switch with a extra servo i had and and sub micro switch epoxied to the side of servo and run it to the grear channel I Flip The Switch Servo Arm Swings around contacting the switch there for closing the curcuit and bingo there a alternitive works like a charm
 smarivoet 47 points
oldfashioned ways always work :-) why not use a proven method hé*? with the principe less is more this is certainly applicable, but with certain applications/planes you just don't have the space to put an additional servo..
Jeremy  4 points - 3/8/2013

Its A relay Is All It is It Uses A Dedicated Power Source To Carry the main Load Of The device All receiver does is switch a electronic switch that closes the curcuit between batt & the devise there for no high amp load on receiver
bradley  1 points - 3/6/2013

I wired the switch according to directions and video. It works fine(lights blink and some are contsant...as required) when I put a 7.4v 1300mah 2s lipo on to test. When I put my flight battery on which is a 11.1v 1300mah 3S all of the LEDs are very, very dim and don't blink. Yes..battery is charged. What is going on?
 Roger 2288 points
What powers your receiver and RC switch? Maybe the switch doesn't get enough power and develops high resistance between load and the secondary battery. There's no way a 2S can light the LED brightly than a 3S.

107 thumbs up!
This is a very good convenient tool.
I will use it to switch my lights in my planes on and off, but there are several other purposes for this tiny product.

weight: 7,7g
switches on above: 1550µs
switches off under: 1400µs

4 failsafe modes:
1. OFF
2. ON
3. Flash (ON-OFF-ON-OFF-...)
4. last Situation

Especially Nr. 3 is perfect for range checking. Failsafe form the receiver => flashing lights

It works with one or with two batteries as shown in the wiring diagram.
It is very important to use a common ground, otherwise the unit wont work.

5 stars
for this little cheap power tool

I really surprised with this
cheap and usable tool.

I will use it to switch navigation lights on my La-Racer 40 plane, but there are several other purposes for this tiny product.

weight: 7,7g
switches on above: 1550s
switches off under: 1400s

4 failsafe modes:
1. OFF
2. ON
3. Flash (ON-OFF-ON-OFF-...)
4. last Situation

Especially Nr. 3 is perfect for range checking. Failsafe form the receiver => flashing lights

Also it is possible to install this switch into a system powered by two batteries - wiring diagram is included in technical documentation delivered with the switch.

It is very important to use a common ground, otherwise the unit wont work.

Excelent solution to switch on and off lights and to make range test.

You need to connect it correctly for it to work.
The wires need a common ground.
I will upload a diagram today.
