In that servo line, I do not think there is a metal gear servo available. I suggesst you use the servo compare feature and see if there is something close in perhaps a different brand.
No to be rude, but why bother at 5 bucks each. I've had problems breaking some turnigy plastic gear servos, so I switched to www.link been happy so far.
To the best of my knowledge there are no gears available. The centering of these servos is rather ***r, so why rebuild them. The same gear strips on every servo so there is no need to save any of it for spare parts. Just toss and reorder, or move to a better servo.
Mark, Thanks for your comments. I had some of the S3101S servos in my cart when I decided to look at servos with similar specs. I'm still leanig toward the S3101S but was hoping to fine someone who has had experience with at least two of them, preferably all three.
Have just installed a set of these servos in Hyperion Su31 e25, very smooth running, but one on elevator stipped tooth off gear on 1st flight. am absolutely sure has not been strained, suspect just a bad gear. does anyone know if I can get replacement gears for this model servo? Do Hitec fit?
Help, please. Can anyone tell me the differences (other than small size differences and those I have noted below) between the Turnigy S3101S, the Turnigy S3317B (other than this one has ball-bearings and cost less), and the Turnigy TR1160A (which cost almost $2.00 less than the other two servos and has a 0.02kg higher torque rating). Which servo provides the best quality/performance for the price?
This one has the best reviews by far, no one complaining about easily stripped gears. The 1160 does have slightly better specs, but so many complaints that I chose this one. The specs on all three are close enough that you should not notice any performance difference. None seem to have any real advantage or specific use over the others...
Will this work in a 1/16 revo, and this may be a stupid question but if a servo is rated at 6 volts can i use more than 6 volts e.g. using 7.4 volt pack
Is labeled and is dimensioned exactly like the Futaba, S3101.
What I want to know is, is it made by Futaba and relabeled, or is it a clone and is it as good as the Futaba? Also, I need them fr engine powered planes so I need grommets. There are two small white things. Grommets are usually black. Are they grommets or plastic bushings?

32 thumbs up!
It's a micro size servo. The real dimension without mouting foot is 28 x 13mm. It's a good replacement product with similar characteristics for Futaba S3101, Hitec HS-81 and Multiplex Tiny-S.
got 2 of these for ailerons in my 35 nitro pitts. Initially they looked very good, strong fast quiet and centered well, after about 5 flight the gears were stripped in one of them, without any ding. Dont know if I should replace it or look for something else. its a shame because it was a nice servo and I dont want to risk my plane with it.

This servo has more precise movemnets than others I bought from hobbycity, like 9320, Corona and HD. The output gear is compatibile with Futaba horns. The only question is: Is it durable? Time will say.

These servos work great, they are a solid, had no slop and centered better than many other servos in this price range. I can't vouch for how long they will last, but so far so good. I am happy with them and will order more for some of my other projects.
This particular set went into a GP Edge 540T 50" and fit the slots perfectly without any extra cutting.
As others have mentioned they are comparable to the Hitec HS-81.
5 Stars easy.
