Thanks.

Is this engine good for Multiplex Cularis and what ESC you would recomend
 Hussain Joharji 204 points
Hello alexei14,,, 40A ESC will be fine for 12*8 propeller,50A ESC for 13*8or10 and 60A ESC for 14*10 .. hopes this helps... Best Regards

i need to know if this motor would work on a glider that weighs 400g with out the motor, esc or battery.im planning on using a 10.8v nimh battery as im scared of using lipos. i want to use this motor with a 40A esc on the 10.8v nimh. what prop would i use with this setup if the final weight with the motor, esc and battery is 800-1200g? i see the thrust is from 1500-2000g so im guessing it would work? any suggestions on motors, esc props would be appreciated. thanks.

Try to look for a 2200kv motor and use a 6x4 or 6x4 prop. That should be enough power for your glider.
 R/C RACER 2 points
I tried that. I have a 2200kv motor 2212-6 and a 6x4 propeller and it doesnt have enough thrust to pull the glider up. thats why i brought this motor and ill use a 9.5x6 master airscrew propeller. should be enough thrust.
 R/C RACER 2 points
well i got the motor and i must say it is very good! i have it hooked up to a 30amp esc, 10.8v nimh 10c battery and a 9.5x6 master airscrew prop and its about a 1:1 ratio on my glider whick weighs 1100g now. im putting a 12x8 master airscrew prop so it should be good now. very happy with this motor!!!

oops

how can this motor deliver 600watts?

12v(3s charged)*35A(Max current: 30~35A)=420Watts
 henkvdw 81 points
Have you considered 4S LiPo?
 Bertuele 11 points
4S isn't in the description! HK suggests 2-3S. So question is correct! Anyway, I hope it.ll be pwerfull enough for my Multiplex Funcub!!

These red and blue motors can only be mounted behind the firewall. The shaft cannot be pressed through to be mounted infront of the firewall/motor box as the 5mm shaft is machined down to 4mm where it is secured with a grub screw in the bell end of the motor.

You are right about the shaft. I can't use this motor like it is. Apparently, there is not any way to tell if the shaft is not the same diameter end to end, until it arrives and then it's too late. That's $20 I could have used elsewhere.
 henkvdw 81 points
Ream the bell hole to 5mm. Use a shaft that is 5mm and not stepped to 4mm.
 aero45 10 points
Not true, absolutely cylindrical shaft, is 5mm from start to finish
 demonGti 333 points
* Aero45 Lucky you. They must have updated the design. Mine has a definite step where the shaft meets the bell.
 aero45 10 points
DemonGTi, you're right, this engine must be new version and the color is red-black. Looking closely at the photo of the red-blue difference in size is seen in the front-back axis. I've had to change the shaft (for a hard landing)

2 thumbs up!
I got one of these for a scratch build plane but I had to try it in my PA AMR. It bolts in with no modifications to the plane. It really does only weigh 136g. With a 14x8 XR Sport prop it draws about 32A at WOT on a 3S Zippy Flightmax 2200 25C Lipo and Turnigy Plush 40A ESC. Not as spritely as I had hoped but on a 14x10 it might be better.

I ran this motor on PA AMR also.
Correct weight is 136g with connector. and wire is not sllicon (not flexible).

I love following setup.
Plush 40A ECS, 3s 2200mA 25C
Turnigy light weight wood prop.
13*8, 31A.
AMR can unlimit climb, and hovor at half throttle.

Excellent performance in my Condor Magic 2.9 electric glider. Climb rate is impressive for a glider of this type and duration is very good - 3 x 10minute flights and it only uses about half the battery capacity.
Running on 4s Turnigy 5000MAh pack and 14 x 8 folding prop.
Recommended.
