INSTA-SET is a catalyst which acts as an accelerator that allows CAs to quickly cure in thick layers by enhancing the alkaline conditions during polymerization. INSTA-SET in a spray bottle is normally used to cure the CA that flows from joints when parts are pressed together. Applying an additional bead of thick CA along a seam and then curing it with INSTA-SET significantly enhances a joints strength. For difficult to bond materials, INSTA-SET can be applied to one surface and CA to the opposite surface. When brought together, they will bond instantly. INSTA-SET is formulated with a strawberry scent and activates CA in 6 to 8 seconds without any degrading of the CAs strength, which can occur with many other accelerators. It is compatible with all surfaces, even clear plastic and white foam.
Saw my brother have a stack with his foamy on the weekend and then saw this in use for the very first time. I was awestruck with how quick it set the CA. I am just about to get myself a bottle and be flying in a minute from fixing any repairs. Well done HK for this product.
I'm more worried about my fingers! I usually get some over spray on them and when holding my next over-zealously glued work piece, I have a bit of a surprise...!

According to Wikipedia, aromic amines are "toxic and are suspected human carcinogens". Nice. So for us who'd like to take our grandkids out to fly some day, is there a man safe kicker alternative around?
Heterocyclic amines are also carcinogenic but you don't see people switching to raw meat, you aren't drinking or breathing the glue so what's the issue?

If you are worried use sparingly and dont get it on your skin, I also think that there is a governing body that regulates Hazardous products,
I would be more concerned about burnt toast google that one.
The 'danger' is no worse than using spray paint and only present on application. Just use in a well ventilated area (when the kids are not present)Should not be an issue once it is dry.
Petrol/fuel is also "known to the state of California to cause birth defects, cancer, etc, etc...."
You'll have to make sure that your grand-kids aren't in the car or nearby when your refuelling...
Can somebody confirm that this accelerator work well on foam (EPO and EPP) with CA foam safe? If you spray on a foam piece that is paint, is this product change the color of the paint on foam? Thanks!
Yes .. I used it on my epo foam plane and it didn't melt it at all. .. also I just got the bottle off the shelf and it states on the front label .."safe for foam and plastic". One thing I do is open the lid and use the spray tube as a dip and drip type applicator.. the spray is a little bit of overkill in my opinion.
Yes my friend you can use it without worrying about this factor.Also i have noticed that it really does the job good with a nice hard finishing ,but you should be carefull not to put excess glue or glue in surrounding area because when you use the spray it will cover all the area,the solution of using the spray tube given above is actually a very well applied form of using your accelerator exactly at the area needed.If you want to use the spay and a bit worried about the paint job you can cover
Don't use too much. It can get very hot! I didn't know how good it is. And the spray really wangs it out! My foam started to melt with the heat:-)
Try it on an off cut. You'll see, a bottle of this should last you a long long time.
I put some in a small bottle with a fine super glue application tube. I'm sure you know what I mean. You really don't need to use much of it.

I must be the resident OHS representative,2 of 2 comments so far have a safety spin but there are pretty solid warnings on the CA Accelerator products (certainly zip kicker) about lung damage through breathing in the vapors. Use these products only in well ventilated areas and do try to avoid the smell, doubly so if you like it :).
It's because it is strawberry scented. It used to be advertised as such - 'having a pleasant strawberry smell' but that was a while ago. It wouldn't wash well now a days with promoting it as smelling nice, which may tempt people to 'sniff' it more, while it slowly toxified your lungs.... *-)
I agree with you, they smell nice. Especially ZAP aerosel and sprey pump accelerators are my favorite :)
I think they put a good smelling scent in it to make it easy to work with.
This stuff works great. The only problem is that the atomizer pump does not work all that well. You really need give it a good 6 hard pumps then it suddenly blows when your not expecting it and by then you've moved your aim!

I have a bottle that I've been using for a few months now. Either I lucked out, or you were unlucky, the pump on my bottle works quite well, I can even mist a half pump onto the ca. Might be worth trying to find a pump that'll fit off some other kind of bottle, or using a eye dropper or something to avoid the mess. :)
You received a defective pump. I have purchased this same item and it worked perfect. Your pump needs to be changed. Buy another bottle and keep it as a spare.

I think HK should do that with this stuff, but supply a pressure the size of those WD40 home handy packs which is the same diameter as this bottle, but about 6 inches tall and has a 3mm applicator straw that can be attached to the spray nozzle. PROBLEM RESOLVED: Well I was going to try the transfer to an empty perfume bottle idea but didn't have any. So anyway was mad at the accelerator the other day so I 'slammed' the bottle down onto the bench and then gave it a pump and it worked right away. So after a few tests, turns out all you need to is give the bottle a sharp tap on the bench and it works perfect for one spray/pump after every tap. I tested on both bottles I have and worked perfectly on them. Much easier than pumping the heck out of it and getting nowhere or a random spray - There you have it!

Have you thought of using a small paint brush to paint the aria to be glued FIRST. Then put the two surface's together and apply the CA. It doesn't matter if the accelerator goes on first or last.
I got it befor 2 weeks,and now when I needed to use it I discovered that the ede of it,the spot where the liquid come from',is NOT open!!!(I CANT USE IT)/What should I do?!?
Try removing the cap. Cover the bottle to reduce evaporation. Take the piece with the opening and immerse or apply acetone to soften clogged material. Alternatively, try debonder. Finally use some fuse wire or similar to clear the fine opening. Caution - do not make the hole any larger than designed because there the pump action cannot generate the pressure to atomise through a large hole.
Remove cap and apply acetone, debonder, etc to nozzle. Clear with fine wire. Avoid making hole larger otherwise you may get limited atomisation from the pump action. If all else fails, use a cotton bud or brush as an applicator.
