yes the shaft is 4mm. I was looking at it and it seems like the screws are slipping on the threads of the shaft and sliding up to the top, is that what would normally happen if the screws where loose?
Shafts designed for prop-savers will have come with a flattened area. If you have a round shaft it was probably designed for a collet adapter instead. If you want to put a prop-saver on it, you need to use a rotary tool with a grinding bit to flatten the parts of the shaft where the screws will grip it. That will make it impossible for the prop saver to slip off.
If you don't flatten the shaft, you can tighten the screws until they strip but they will still slip off unless you glue the whole thing in place with threadlock.
Dear All, I'm holding a bag of prop savers. There are ten sets of them inside a 60x80mm zip plastic bag. The inner diameter of O_Ring is 15mm. Could someone share how to use the "screw","nut", & O_ring to "save" a prop. Many thanks in advance.
First slide the metal ring with screws over the shaft and tighten down the screws on the shaft. Then slide your propeller over the beveled part of the ring. Put one side of the o-ring over one screw, stretch over the propeller, and attach to the other screw. Beware though, that these o-rings aren't really made for this and they give people some issues by braking off and letting go of the prop. (You can use the pulling glider bungee to secure the prop if you are extremely worried. This should do
Just search google images for prop saver and you will see plenty of photos of how to install them.
One thing I like to do is install two O-rings because I fly a quadcopter. O-ring is just thick rubber band and it will eventually rot and break, resulting in crash. If you have two O-rings, if one breaks the other will hold the prop in place.
I came back yesterday from successful flying (no crashes!) and noticed an O-ring was missing... so it pays off to put that second O-ring!
it is now febuary and the webpage STILL SAYS "Stock updated frequently.
Goods arrive every 21-30 days. No ETA on 1 item." so if this stock is updated soo frequently why hasnt there been ANY stock in months???
tired of damaging props? Well then this is the best option for saving the only or even best prop you have. Easy to install, and gives you that extra piece of mind.
