USA warehouse now open. Our USA warehouse is now open! Low cost shipping and an ever growing variety make ordering from the US warehouse even better value!
This balancer is only suitable for bigger props (mainly out of wood) and you`ll need to buy one with magnetic bearings to balance so light and small props.
Why doesn't Hobby King just admit they have no guarantee? I have returned this item per their instructions, at a high cost on my part with nothing, no email, no advice, no communication. this is not the first time. I've just paid for the item, similar amount to return it to the NSW warehouse weeks ago with no communication at all. I don't mind, but why try to claim they honour gurantees. I have outlaid a considerable amount, paid for the item which was faulty, went through their procees for a claim and nothing. I've just made a donation to HK. Really impressed.
If they are electric they may not weigh enough. But if they are Wood or Fiberglass Resin props then yes it will work. Basically Electric No Nitro/ Gas Yes
Shaft diameter is 3-mm, the shaft on mine looks slightly bent about 1-cm on the far end, the axle is about 3-cm longer than the stand so it's no problem, just make sure that end is not on the bearings. It would probably be easy to find a perfect straight axle from a helicopter ore something in the right diameter. the bearings is super smooth and rolls easy along whit the shaft.
Which is the diameter of the shaft (the horizontal metallic rod on the photo)? (in other words, which is the minimum shaft hole diameter this balancer can accomodate?)
Is this shaft strong and well balanced (that is, perfectly straight), or it is slightly bent and useless like some units of the other model (SK-2050 "Extreme accuracy Prop/Rotor balancer")?
I needed a balance stand and thought I would give this one a shot. It's a good stand, but the instructions are comical/unusable. No problem, it's easy to put together. Only issue is two of the bearings need to be lubricated and worked in. Be sure to check them!

2 thumbs up!
Good quality stiff plastic, easy to assemble, but not useful for light props (ex. 8x4 APC) because bearings present some friction that becomes significant for lighter props. Also, the shaft diameter is too big to fit the APC style props. The cones are tight fit sliding onto the shaft would be better if they screwed on thread. Modification with magnets and grinding sharp the shaft edges overcomes the friction problem.

good balancer for props larger than 9X6.
small props, like 4.75X4.75 are tricky to balance, overall not a bad balancer
This is a cheap prop balancer, and you can tell when you look at it, but it still does the job. The bearings on mine were a bit stiff and required some work to free them up. Once this was done the performance of the stand was much better. It works well for large props but I couldn't get a good reading on my little 7x4.
