This battery changed since August 2012. It was 292g, now it's 325. It was 2mm narrower (thickness) and was labeled "sw hardcase". These new ones are a nuisance being thicker, heavier, and not as well protected... What happened?!? I just ordered 5 more but they don't fit well in my bird (3X4000mah packs are 6mm thicker) Bring back the older ones!!!
Sebastianap  7 points - 4/15/2013

Hello Hassan, you only have to connect the red and black big wires via a PDB board, the other cables with the white plug are only to use with a balanced charger to balance the voltage of each cell during the charge. Hope this small explanation help you. Best regards Sebastian.

I am new in this area. So,I don't know how to connect the five thin wires in this battery with the two wires(-/ ) in kk2 board. is there any adapter I should use?
 alberic du 78 26 points
the KK2.0 board is power by the ESC connector of your aircraft, not directly with the battery. Battery is plugged into ESC. Bye

Why is the shipping weight of this battery 99g more than the actual weight from the product config table?
 con244 50 points
The battery is in a cardboard box that weighs 99gms?

It's one of hobbykings many little ways to get you to pay more.

Hi, I want to use these cells in a car, but my battery space is just 140mm long, maybe I could widen it to 143 or so, but it still would not be enough. Is ist possible to rearrange the cables to make the cell a few mm shorter?
 Pjotrs 1 points
i don't think so u can damage battery or wires

Olá colega! Eu não aconselho vc abrir o envólucro da bateria isto seria perigoso, mas daria para vc tentar puxar os fios um pouco para o lado e se precisar até cortar um pedaço deles. Espero ter ajudado.

can i use a single 4000mah battery for 4 or 2 turnigy brushless motors.MY motor rating is 1050kv rpms/V
 Luke 6 points
yes, i do that with my quadcopter and motors with the same rating, get 10-14 minute flights on a 1.5Kg copter. (i would go with the 5000mAh though, not much heavier and 25pcnt more energy)

Hi everyone

i use a 3s 1300mah 175g in my model and i get 8-10 min of fligt if i will change to this 4000mah i will get mor flight time??(the weight dosent metter my model can handle anuther 230g ) or can i connect to packs in paralel with this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem
.asp?idProduct=10265
or in series with this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem
.asp?idProduct=10264
to get more flight time??

thanks for the help
 garett 1763 points
if you will connect in series, you'll get 6s battery and will fry your esc, if you'll connect batteries in paralel you will get summed capacity, so it's ok, just better if batteries would be the same producer and capacity.

If there is enough space, just get 2200 mah battery and you'll be ok.

 __hobo 203 points
If you use 4000 mAh instead of 1300 mAh you flight time will increase about times 4000/1300, that's about 3 times the original flight time. You can also connect 2 batteries in parallel. Connecting in parallel means: Capacities of the batteries get added, voltage has to be the same. Connecting 2 batteries in series (serial) means that the individual voltages get added. In this case you should use batteries of same capacity. So, in your case, either parallel packs or bigger battery. DO NOT US
 HellyFlyer 1257 points
If you connect it in parallel only the volt will incrase but the mah will remain same however if you connect in series then your flight time will increase, but also think of the weight of 2 batteries as compared to one battery with high mah.
 alloba 22 points
Hi friend. If the weight is not a problem to the model and you can put into this kind of lipo, you're flight time will be longer. To have longer flight times yo need more capacity of the battery (more mAh) and if you want to do this connecting packs you have to use parallel conector, if you use serial you increase the voltage (like 6s battery). Regards.
 dwvabeach 66 points
mAh is a direct measurement of a pack's capacity. The more mAh the electricity is stored in the pack. However, that comes with a tradeoff which is as you noted an increase in weight. The size difference between a 1300 pack and a 4000 pack is dramatic. Your plane will likely be more sluggish and have to work harder to lift it. Even though the size is more than double, you may only see a 50 gain in runtime due to the increased weight. The motor just has to work so much harder to lift and dr
 AdrenaCo 136 points
You could use this battery if the additional weight is no problem. Your flight time will increase indeed. My estimate is that you would roughly double your flight time. The flight behavior of your plane will change however and landings etc. will become more critical due to the additional weight. You can also connect two identical packs in paralell but a single pack is to be preferred as connecting packs in paralell can be tricky due to different internal resistances in the batteries. I do not t
 tarama 15 points
Yes you will triple your flight time.
 colgem 177 points
If you are sure that your airframe can handle this additional weight, then sure you can stuff this battery in there. Ensure that you maintain the correct Centre of Gravity though. If you have two 1300mah packs you wish to use instead of this one 4000, use the parallel connector to double your battery capacity, use the series connector if you wish to double your voltage. Remember, with extra wqeight comes reduced flight time, so, if you double your battery capacity, you will get less than doub
 matwelli 9 points
yes you will get more flight time, you plane will use a bit more power to fly, so expect around 3 times the flight time. Yes you can use that to connect your packs in parallel for more capacity - just make sure both packs are charged before connecting together (same voltage)
 Airibatic 49 points
yes the more mah you use the longer flight time but if you are getting 8 to 10 min with a 1300 i would not use a 4000 go with a 2600 you should be able to get 15 to 20 min outof it.
 PAULO 2 points
QUANTO MAIOR O Ah MAIOR O TEMPO DE VO.
 jflessne 54 points
You should get more flight time but with out know what your specs are it's hard to be certain. Connecting packs in parallel...just don't know.
 Destructor 162 points
Any time you can carry more milliamps (mah) on board you will get more flight time. If the weight does not matter then go big for nice long flights. But in the case of weight you will have to be heavier on the throttle so it will eat the power up faster aswell. So finding the perfect mesh is tricky some times. In my case I go with the smaller "mah" and have lots ready to switch out. They are so cheap now I have about 79 batteries. My faves are the turnigy 1800 20c
 mattio79 123 points
i would always recommend going with whatever balances your craft. if a longer parallel-connected setup keeps it in balance, you are adding complication of multiple connections, any of which could fail. going with as few packs as possible is always better. if, for instance 2 packs sideways in a "saddle" configuration balances it better than a single heavy pack on one side go with 2 in parallel. make darn sure that your harnesses are soldered and insulated/isolated perfectly or you will have a
 De_We 34 points
Let answer the first part: You're using 3S 1300mA*max.discharged to 25 : used capacity ~975mAh. Let say, you need ~110mAh per Minute 975mA/9Min If you used the 4000mAh Lipo (same Voltage :3S) max.discharged 25: there are (with max.25 discharged) 3000mAh to use. 3000/110= 27Min to fly. Now you've a bigger weight and the engine must be work harder and need more power. I think, with this LiPo you'll be get ~20Min real fly time. Last part: Parallel: If you connect 2 LiPo's parallel, your capa

It says Max Charge Rate is 2C here on the website. On the warning label on the battery it says 1C. Witch is it now? 1 or 2? Don't want a lipo fire.
 Fidelity 393 points
They all warn 1C, but I've safely charged my packs at 2C many times without causing a fire or hurting the battery. Don't try 5C like a Hyperion pack...but 2C isn't a problem for these high quality packs.

This battery is heavier than 10.9oz (311g) The E-Flite 3S 3200mAh battery is 10.9, so I'm guess this battery weights somewhere between 12 and 13oz
 Felar Furlong 1083 points
incorrect. just weighted mine on digital scales. 307.7g with t-connector.

I have this battery and one cell died (shows 0 volts) but the other two are fine. I don't know how this happened. Are there any cells to replace it? Thanks
 kstmark 305 points
I don't think you gonna find but you can open your battery and disconnect the dead cell. So you can have a 2S 4000mAh with an other 2S with the same mAh you can go to a 4S. You can also split the 2s to 2 of 1S so as to have spares 1S4000mAh or even join them with 3S so as to have 2 4S. If you open your battery beware of fire you should be extremely careful not to short + with -

I had the same issue with my Gadex 4500mAh 3S. What i did was connecting same 3S battery to + and - of the broken battery. I wait for a minute making sure it's not getting hot. After that I switch the battery to the balancer and fully charged it. I used this battery 3 times after that and everything seems to be okay. I only figure out mAh loss - about 10%. Is it normal?

The FMA CellPro 10S is hands down the best charger you will find for lipo's. It auto detects the number of cells, tells you the Internal Resistance of each cell, automatically calculates the charge rate unless you want to manually set it, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend the FMA 10S after trying many others on the market.
 Fidelity 393 points
Kevin...What Y splitter are you using? For charging, it would be better to charge each pack seperately, but if you want to charge them both as one, make sure they are at the same discharge level. Also, if you're sparking, something is not right with your Y plus. Try taking a volt meter and test your cable after plugging each pack in. The issue your describing sounds like you have a wiring issue.
 mattio79 123 points
that is because there is a crossed connection in your balance connector.

I bought 2 of these Zippy Flightmax 4000mAh 3S1P 20C (Z40003S-20) for my stock '09 E-flite Apprentice 15e. The stock battery is an E-flite 3200 (253g). After a bit of a backorder delay, they arrived as expected - weighed in at 306.1g & 307.8g. They fit perfectly without any mods - just a bit snug. No discernable change in CG. I did have to replace via silver solder, the connector with E-flite EC3. tbc...
