The Turnigy Accucel 6 Balance Charger utilises quality FET's and resistors to accurately balance and charge Lithium Polymer and NiMH batteries. The Accucel-6 will handle LiPo/LiFe up to 6S and NiMH/NiCd up to 15S and shows individual cell voltage during charge with realtime updates throughout the charge cycle. The intuitive menu system means charging and cycling is an easy process and can be done quickly and accurately either at the field by using a 12v input such as a car battery or at home with a 12v power supply. Bundled with the Accucel-6 is a bunch of input and output wires which should satisfy any charging requirement.
ATTENTION. There are several chargers now entering the China market that look similar to the Accucel. These chargers are produced with cheaper FET's and are unfortunately much less accurate and very unsafe. There has been reports of the copied chargers over-charging packs and not balancing correctly. The Accucel-6 is the first charger in the market with this PCB layout Circuit design. Any charger with the same circuit diagram is most definitely a copy. We have tested the copied chargers ourselves, their componentry is of a very low quality and the manufacturing company that has produced the copy has used a process of duplicating our CPU(MCU)'s hex file and flashed a similar chip(MCU) to produce a similar product. This means they do not have the original code and therefore cannot bug-test(QC) or update the charger at any point. Our chargers have CE and RoHS certification, proving their safety. Plus, thousands of customers the world over have used our chargers with excellent results. Your batteries are expensive. We understand this and thats why we will not carry low-quality charging devices. Trust only in TURNIGY® quality charging devices. Features; Microprocessor controlled Delta-peak sensitivity (NiMH/NiCd) Individual cell balancing Li-ion, LiPo and LiFe capable Ni-Cd and NiMH capable Large range of charge currents Store function, allows safe storage current Time limit function Input voltage monitoring. Yum! Yum! Yum! Everything works great! Wonderful charge! Charge your battery for the first 2 hours! I'm extremely pleased. I do not know how you can do even better, everything is perfect. I advise you to buy.
There is something loose in my charger, when i turn it upside down i can clearly hear something moving inside, sounds kind of like a screw that isn't attached properly. Will open it tonight and see the damage or if it even turns on.
Reece, do not modify your charger in anyway..... you'll void the warranty..... just try turning it on and charge a battery to see if it works! If it doesn't then contact customer service immediately!
Hey srijal, you can use the 12v 500mA for charging but you'll get 'error' on the screen of the charger more than often if you are charging a 3S or 4S or higher! Plus as oldbuddy said it will be very very slow! I think you are from India, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get a 12v(15v recommended) and at least 2.5~3A adapter(5A recommended) locally or you can order Product ID: HK15-5!
You can also use a laptop adapter(with output rating under 18 volts) or a car battery as the power source!
Hope this helps! :-)
Robo_Guy, I need the charger for charging 3s battery. You are right, I live in mumbai, india. I already ordered many things and cannot order the adapter from hobbyking now. Plus the laptop adapters here are more than 19v. what should I do?
Do you live in india too?
Srijal, yes I live in India(orissa), too! If you live in mumbai then you should go over to lamington road and get an adapter from one of the many electronics shops there... they are very cheap there..... and if that's a problem then order one from probots(recommended) or onlinetps(low quality chargers)...... and yeah I understand your problem.... ordering too many items... then paying the shipping is really irritating and then there is the conversion from USD to INR....
thanks for the suggestion. but there are no required adapters on both websites. if you find one, give me the link. besides I have a 12v 4A adapter of my tv. can I use it? how do you know about mumbai? ever lived there?
Yes you can use 12v 4A adapter! And I don't know about mumbai per se(although I visit from time to time)...... I just know many places you can get hobby electronics items from! :-)
sorry anti-spam won't allow me to paste the link.... just type nex robotics on google, then go to there sites, find the 'power supply' section and find the 15 volt 5amps SMPS....
19V is too much, because upper limit is 18V (maybe it can be accepted by charger, but it is on components critical voltage value ratings). Do not use PSU for asus, toschiba etc. laptops if you want to have your charger for a little bit more than while. The PSU 15 or 18 V are very common. If you want to have good PSU, you can use professional industrial power sources (MeanWell etc.) from your local electrotechnics store which have very good price\value ratio.
you can try positive voltage regulators like lm317 or 78xx(7812, 7815, etc.) but you'll only get like 1 to 2amps of current that too with a heat sink attached! So its best if you either buy Product ID: HK15-5 or use a car battery! Hope this helps! :-)
Just use some PSU with ideal 15V and about 60W . I can recommend you to use industrial grade PSU which have very good power/price value, but you must to made your own cables and box (if you wana to go this way make about 300W PSU and you can use it almost for every charger on the market). Laptop adapter is also good but only when its voltage does not exceeds 18V.
Hey Neils, you can either use the power supplies that roger has mentioned above or you can save some money and use the adapter of a laptop to power this charger! Hope this helps! :-)
These two chargers look very similar and are a similar price. Can anyone offer any advice as to which is best for me? I currently have NiMH batteries (1800 and 3300 but getting a 50000 soon)
Thanks
Hey, richard.... not long ago, I was also having the same dilemma, but I finally decided to buy the IMax B6!
You are right, both the chargers are 99% same(input voltage and charge current are different!) So really you should just flip a coin and decide which one to buy...... but seeing as this one is out of stock... I'd advice you to go for the Imax B6! You can also check out the copy version of the Imax B6(PRODUCT ID: IMAXB6-FAKE).... It is cheaper but still very reliable.
Hope this helps! :-)
good morning, friends secede when I connect the battery and I balancerarla and upload.
the battery only lasts 6 seconds cargardose and swinging around and then I get a message Turnigy and off the charger.
will be due to the battery is new.
I've tried a car battery and a computer power supply and I'm only getting 4 to 4.2 amps max when charging when I set the charger to 6 amps. Why is this happening?
This charger can only do up to 5 amps. If your not supplying it with 12v you may not be able to get a 5 amp charge. I charge at Turnigy hard case 4.0 amps for 2s 4000mah lipo's, cant charge these batteries at 5 amps but my next set will be able to be charged at 5 amps and above.
You will have to supply 17 volts to get a 6amp charge. Didn't notice that they added 1 more amp charge, mine was the earlier version with 5 amp max. sorry for first post.
Well, the blue light is only the color of the backlight of the LCD! So, what you have received is not a faulty product, but just a product with that kind of LCD installed..... HobbyKing sometimes changes the specifications of their product without updating the information on the site! So don't worry the charger will function the same!
Hope this helps! :-)
Normal charge, at 2C, takes 30 minutes. Balance mode can be up to 1A, so it will take 2 and a half hours. Anyway, you can also do discharge, and you can charge lots of different types of batts. It's a very good charger.
If you need a power supply on the cheap for 12 volt chargers an ATX computer power supply works great. I use a 300W supply out of a ****ed computer. You only need one yellow and one black wire from a hard disk connector. Just jump the green wire to any black wire on the main connector to make it turn on. There is quite a bit information on color codes and converting these into general use power supplies.
Hi guarav, This charger won't work with a 19vdc power supply. It will either give you an "ERROR" message or a blank screen. These chargers are very sensitive to both the input voltage and the stability of that voltage, so you need a very stable output (regulated) between 11-77 vdc. Cheers, EA!
I have a 12v 2.5a power supply. Will this be good enough for charging the 7.4v 2s 850mah Turnigy Nano Tech batteries? I know 12v 5a to 6a would be better, but the charger I have been using only has a 12v 500ma supply and it charges the batteries just fine in about 1.5 hours.
You'll be fine with a 2.5a power supply, especially with a small battery like that. Even if you charge at 2C rate, that is only 1.7 amps x 7.4v = 12.6 watts going into the battery. Your 12v 2.5a power supply is capable of supplying 12v x 2.5a = 30 watts.
Hi Junhwa, A 12v x 6A power supply is perfect for this charger. The charger has a 60W max output and your power supply will put out 72W, so it's a good match. Cheers, EA!
It should work. I've noticed that with my one, it wont work off a 12v 7A motorcycle battery, but when connected 2 x 12V 8A UPS batteries with a car battery charger connected to a timer to keep the batteries charged, gives me 12v 16A and that works perfectly.
If all else fails, you might be able to put something together lying around your house, perhaps even an old Computer PSU.
One of the things I have found is that the bigger the power supply the better. Quite simply, being able to charge more batteries at one time can be an absolute bonus when you are running short of time the night before you go flying. A good combination is a TGY 20 PRO with a Turnigy ACCUCEL 6. I like to keep all these sort of things the same brand it seems more kosher for some reason. I have four of these hanging off my DC supply and charge, generally, 4x2500mAh 3S at 1C. Think about this. At 1C it takes longer but you are doing 4 at once so the time is actually not that long. Also, if a charger fails then you still have 3 spare so to speak. Works for me. Obviously, if you are charging larger batteries then you adjust the number accordingly. Work this out. If the total power output of the TGY 20PRO is 220W then if you have a battery that is 4000mAh then you can only run 4 at 1C or 2 at 2C. Running at lower values of charge will extend battery life so that is a bonus. Also, the PS is under less stress. For what it is worth i run my equipment at a maximum of 80% FLC so for a max of 220W that is a tad over 150W.
Hi Flitcher, Agreed on the multiple charger recommendation. I run 2-3 chargers off of my T-20 Pro as well, but I've gone off recommending that power supply to others. If you read the discussion board for it you'll see that it has become a quality control train wreck. Dozens of people reporting that theirs have blown up after 1-2 uses. My power switch failed (in the ON position) after a month and the fan sounds like a truck, but it's still running so I'm counting myself as one of the lucky ones, as are you. Cheers, EA!
I have a2cell zippy 850 battery which has the standard JSt discharge plug. Can some please tell me how I can plug this into the above charger, as it only comes with connections for the XT 60
You can buy ready-to-use adapter in "Batteries & Accessories > Battery Adapters" section. You can also use soldering iron and proper connectors to create adapter that you need. Hope that helps.
You would need an adapter to convert the JST to the XT60.
You can find them on hobbyking or you could make one by using parts bought from your local electrical store
Wow man.... they do look different...... from the picture I think maybe No.1 is the real one, cause it has reverse polarity feature...... But then again both of them maybe real and HobbyKing might have changed the product features without updating the information here!
My advice..... contact customer service(live support) and ask to talk to one of the product specialists!
I ordered one of these on April 1st 2013 and another one on April 12th 2013...
They are quite a bit different from each other?
One can't measure internal resistance, it doesn't even have the menu option!
How do I get instuctions for Turnigy Accucel Charger. I tried charging a battery and nothing happened. I precessed Start and nothing happened? should it not say it's charging?? it did not??
it will charge it fine, but max you can get is 0,71C (charger can charge max 6A) so it will take a long time. If you want to use more batteries like this one you mentioned, you should buy new more powerfull charger.
Max power is 50W, so your battery will be charged at 4A or even less. Your battery can be charged at 8.4A safely, but you will need more powerful charger. If you have enough time you can use this charger for it.
hello, how do I have to load a turnigy nano tech 2.650 mah, 35-70C lipo battery? I did it with an accucell 6. parameters: 3s, 1.4 amp and balance charge. the cahrger did its job but, It was only loaded upto 1600 mah. thank you
The reason I can see is that your lipo was not totally discharged and only needs the 1600mah to fully charged. That's just normal, you can charge at 2.6A or 2.7A to speed up the charging. With a nanotech, you can probably charge at more than 1C but slowly increase the charging rate each charging cycle and observe your lipo if the temperature rises.
Try loading way faster, nano-tech allow loaded fast (usually 5C). The quietly can load 3 or 4 amps.
Just finished loading, 1Amp load it to balance again.
Accucel-6 is a really nice product. The firmware of thie charger is exactly same as of any other 50W charger. It has a blue backlit which is easily readable in the sunlight or in dark. Along with the cigarette lighter adapter, you can use this to charge your batteries while driving down to the field. http://www.hobbyking.com www.link ANY SPACES IN THE ABOVE LINK)
The buttons are good and it has all metal body which is really good as compared to the Hobby King $18.99 charger.
This charger comes with a multiple charge lead connector which you can use with any kind of battery.
You can even calibrate the charger if you feel the readings are a little incorrect.
For calibrating this charger follow these steps:
1.) Power off the charger. 2.) Press and hold the (dec" and "start" buttons. 3.) Power on the charger. (you will hear 3 beeps in a row). Keep the buttons pressed. 4.) You will enter into the calibration screen where the voltage detected by the charger is displayed on the screen (voltage on output leads). 5.) Attach any battery to the output leads of the charger. 6.) Using a digital multimeter, correct the reading of the voltage by pressing "inc" or "dec" buttons till the reading matches with that of the multimeter. 7.) Press "Stop" when you are done. 8.) Your charger is calibrated now.
You can repeat these steps as many number of times

I'm very happy with this charger. I tested with my cheap voltmeter the final volatge and it seemed lower than displayed by the charger. So i tried to calibrate it :
Hold on "ENTER" and "-" button at while powering on the charger. The charger display something like this :
plus00 VOL: x.xxV SAVE(ENTER)
Then plug in a battery in the charging plug and you can see the voltage detected by the charger. Now you can adjust it by pressing plus or -
I just have to find a good voltmeter because i don't trust my voltmeter more than the accucel !

I ordered 2 of these chargers from HobbyCity, as I wanted a simple, easy-to-use charger for my Li-Po batteries. I found the charger very user-friendly, even though no manual is supplied with it. However, I have found a link to the charger manual here which may be useful to www.link read it through, the Turnigy Accucel-6 has even more capability than I first believed just by pressing the buttons!! The balance functions work really well and much information can be obtained from the charger displays. This is a really impressive charger, all the more so given the price.
Thanks again HobbyCity for a great product!!

Bought one as support to my standard field charger (MPX LN5014). Some of the features I like (vs old charger): plusbright display easily readable in the sun. plusbalancer functionality with detailed voltage display of all cells. plusfaster LIPO loading without the final "trickle charge" plusstore discharge, memory etc. plusnice set of connecting cables. pluslow shipping weight. -only visible drawback is the black housing, which will tend to get hotter in direct sunlight.

Nice charger, not so good discharger.
Good: 1) bright display easily readable 2) balancer functionality with detailed voltage display of all cells on one screen. 3) Memory for batteries 4) USB data collection 5) Many connecting cables. 6) Cheap to buy 7) Can be used with Twin pack charge lead to charge two 3s1p: www.link Good, easy to use menu
Bad: (reason for 4 stars) 1) Discharge function is only so so. With a 3s1p you can discharge at a maximum of .5a and with 6s1p just .2a so it can take all night just to discharge a pack. 2) Fan makes a lot of noise, this is probably due to the charge's small size they had to put a small fan that moves a lot of air to cool it down. It is a budget charger with above budget performance, you don't need to discharge a lot of full packs get it.
Note to the review below, you need to plug in the power and balancing port at the same time to balance charge.
