Looks can be deceiving. This outrunner is around twice the size of a towerpro bell motor, and swings a much larger prop. Its the motor used on some of Art-techs new plane kits, which is testiment to its durability, ease of use and quality. The DT700 will swing an 11x4.7 SF prop nicely, to produce more than 900g of thrust. Its great for larger GWS foamies or parkfly planes.
Spec. Required Voltage: 11.1v Suggested Battery Capacity: 1300mAh + Suggested Prop: 11x3.8 or 11x4.7 Max current draw: 18A (with 11x4.7 prop) Max thrust: 1000g+ No Load Current: 1.4A Shaft: 4M (perfectly suited to Towerpor/GWS SF Slow Fly props) Weight: 78g Diameter: 41mm Overall length: 77mm Kv: 750rpm/v Comes with mount as shown in Image
Test Report. We used the DAT700 outrunner to power the an Art-tech Pitts. Run with a 1300mAh 3S1P 20C pack, 18A BESC and 1147 GWS/Towerpro prop, the Art-tech pitts ran nicely. Excellent climb rate, though not hoverable, and with 13minute flight times or more, we were very impressed. A very efficient outrunner for slower flying models of up to .15 size.
Does anyone know the screw size of those tiny little screws that tighten the motor on to the mount? I lost one of the tiny little screws and can't find it.
Hobby King,"No ETA, goods will arrive every 15-20 days",
I am waiting for them motors at least 30 days now, can you please restock it. With regards
Iulia
Have you put your email in to be notified when they arrive? They always seem to be back in stock shortly after I do that and even if they aren't you are the first to se them back in stock, might help.
Just order it and you will get it shipped with next restock. Otherwise you may never see it available. Pending orders are fulfilled with most priority.
A 4mm collet adapter. Cut a corner off a ziplock bag, put the motor in the bag with the shaft sticking out. Trim to length with a dremmel. It works nicely with the collet adapter flush to the bell and prevents bending the shaft in a crash.
Gosh I find myself lucky...I just got this motor restocked in my order within just two days ...not for my multirotor ..I use this on my twin motor and have a 2.5 KGs of raw thrust...great powerful motor... nice big bearings and good for heavy lifting
Its a really good motor...I have at least twenty on either my multi-copters or my planes but each of them perform great...what I like about these motors is the big drum with exposed winding which allow for better cooling...the bearing issue is not a big problem ..sometime if you destroy your bearings by letting dust into your motor armature..or even if you receive motors with bad bearings you can replace them(They are available at HK) and have an almost indestructible motor...if you trim the shaft there is very less chance of you bending it in a crash ..its the only way of rendering the motor useless....the magnets are nicely glued and the motor is a steal for its price
I received the email at 1h AM, now 6 AM i´*m enter to buy and... BK? HobbyKing, make a real stock of this item, everyone whether david tricopter :-) . Help us. Anyone recommend another similar motor?
Looks like you guys found complete guide to build something that requires this motor. Just look around and you will see a lot of compatible solutions. I don't know who is David and why all of you pray for his tricopter. But I know that first part of all parcels goes to cover backorders and only after that it can appears at stock. So if you want to grab some - go backorder it and make sure that it's the only item in your order. As far as parcel arrives you'll get your motors even if it doesn't appear in stock. Hope that helps.
The motor was chosen because of it's unique characteristics, was readily available and cheap for multi-rotor use. It's HK that is blowing it by not keeping up with the demand. If the supply problem is not resolved, the users will simply find alternative solutions and then HK will not be able to give them away.
That's great advice, except if you have HexCopter are you really going to change out 15 motors because you have one bent shaft and can not locate a source for one shaft or motor? You get the point.
Well Mar11 i preordered too and im quite happy i took the chance, mine got shipped as well :). Now i think i may should have ordered one more as insurance if one fails :/ anyway gl for shipping
Its been over 15 days since i last posted on this, and i ordered them much longer ago!
Where are these motors? Its seems alot of people have paid so i dont understand the hold up, i mean, if we were to at least told of the hold up/reason for the delay people wouldnt feel so cheated.
Everytime i think of cancelling my order for another motor thats equivilant it normally says thats backordered too, and i dont want to be in the same situation with a second choice motor!
Thanks Mar11, I was too late. A buddy just got the email alert also. They were gone so fast that HK never got around to sending me my email alert. I was just lucky and found a set that someone else had but not using at the moment and was willing to sell them. I'm wondering now if we are no competing with hobby shops and others that are buying in large quantities and then just jack the price up.
too bad 7sp.. 1st thanks for the credit.. my advice for you if you want something thats always not available back order it so when it comes in stock they will book you one..wish you luck next time :)
dont you scare me 2 month?, im a german customer and shippin is just about 3 weeks! Hope they focus there supply on demand, actualy i would favor 2 €* more per peace but a faster restockrate :/
Same here, last thing on my list and ordered over a month ago!
When will these be back in stock? I know they're in high demand and restocked every 30 days but a rough date would be nice!
Also the other motors equivalent to this are back ordered too, so we're kind of stuck.
I changed all 8 bearings on my quad.
Most of them were oily (I didn't put on myself on them).
Hope that helps.
What happens to your quad when a motor locks up ?
Because of the price and reasonably accurate description, I'll give it five stars. Modest 8mm (!) bearing tube and bearings don't sound all that great, but the power efficiency is pretty darn good if you can carry the nearly 3oz weight.
For example, a 10x4.7 APC SF plus TP 1320 3S produced about 34oz thrust using 13.96 amps. Both Drive Calculator and Badcock's web page put this as 84-86pcnt efficient. 11x4.7 APC Sf produced over 40oz thrust for a bit over 17 amps. That's still very good efficiency!
Again, if the weight and 4mm screw shaft don't scare you, it will definitely pump out the stuff even if it sounds a bit like a coffee grinder. Added bonus: very nice motor mount that will work great with your MicroDan.

27 thumbs up!
This are the results of my test, measured with my eagel tree:
11 x 7 GWS HD (not the slowfly version) peak: about 13.5 A after 20 sec about: 12.0 A on 3 S with on 10.5V
11 x 4,7 GWS peak: about 15.0 A after 20 sec about: 13.0 A on 3 S with on 10.4V
12 x 6 GWS HD (not the slowfly version) peak: about 15.0 A after 20 sec about: 13.0 A on 3 S with on 10.4V
I couldn't measure trust but from my feeling the trust with 11x4,7 and the 12x6 are nearly the same. The speed with the 12x6 is higher. This will be my choice.
I will put the motor into my selfmade Extra with about 700g, I hope it is a good choice.
I think the motor could spin a bigger prop, next time I try the GWS 12x8 HD and the GWS 11x8 RS.
I don't no if I have get a lower Kv version. I read in the rcforum about measurements which are close to Davids.

18 thumbs up!
Wow. This motor is such a great value. It pushes my 2lb Das Ugly Stik around with authority. I got 34oz thrust with 11.1v 20c 1600 Lipoly and 11X7 SF APC prop. This puts me into larger RC planes at a modest cost. **Neons** Bob

I think Dave got a dodgy motor because mine doesn't make any grinding noises at all. I don't know if I'd call it completely silent but it's no louder than any other outrunner of this size. And while I haven't tested my motor yet I do trust Dave's numbers post above. So, it's cheap, quiet and very efficient. And all for under $11. A bona fide bargain in my book.

13 thumbs up!
Bought this for my Lanier Fokker biplane. It is a good motor for this slow-flying WWI bird. With this motor and APC 10*3.8 prop., the Longmax 1300 3S Lipo doesn't get hot and not even warm after 6-7minutes flight. For this price, I like it very much!
