Just a quick question...someone may know.. How can the 1300, 1500 and 1700 24 gram blue wonders (silver cases) be identified visually. Once they get out of their box, I have not found any difference...any clues..I have several 1700's but not sure of a few are 1300 and 1500 ...I do know I bought at least one of each...but have no way of telling.
 Michael 44 points
Great question, now you make me wonder also. One way would be to measure RPM of all motors and calculate the KV.

No I am using 3mm collet with master screw prop works great.

Sweet little motor. Put one into my Hobbyzone Mini Super Cub replacing its old brushed motor and gearbox (with a 12A ESC). Love the way it flies now, not super powerful but definitely more enjoyable to fly! Getting about 9 mins out of 800mAh battery. Now need to make a steerable tail wheel! Video using HK HD wingcam. Thanks, -Mick.

is it necessary to use the prop saver?
colibri  4 points - 4/16/2013

Hi! i just received my motor a few days ago, and i notice that the winding is not right, just looking you can see that some "post" of the stator have less turns than others, is not disassembled jet, but i want to know how many turns this must have, and what kind of wire i need to use. thanks a lot!! I will use it with a 8x3.8 SF propeller at 2Cell lipo. Thanks again!

What is the flight time on this motor using a nano-tech 850 mah with a 8x3.8 prop? Most of the time just taking it easy. I am going to need more Lipos and getting some more of these motors and trying to decide what size lipos to get that are not too heavy or costly Thanks
 Brian 35 points
I'm using this motor with Gens Ace 800 mAh packs and getting around 5-6 minutes mixed throttle with that size prop. Model weight is 340 grams.
Jeffrey  3 points - 3/20/2013

what prop works best with these on a 3S setup?
 Nicole 31 points
7x3.5 GWS or 7x4 Graupner Slow Fly work fine on 3S Rhino.
 Brian 35 points
I'm using a 9x4.7 SF on 3S 800 mAh and 850 mAh. I'm pulling more than 150 watts at WOT and less than 20 amps.
Srijal Poojary  16 points - 3/18/2013

what power does this offer?(with the 2S battery)

Has anyone flown the Mini Super Cub with this motor? Cheers, -Mick.

posso usar um esc 20a nesse motor?
 Brian 35 points
Sim, eu estava usando um com uma 6x4 hé*lice e baterias 2S e 3S, traduzidas com o babelfish.
colibri  4 points - 2/25/2013

Hi Guys!! Can i use a SF 8x4 prop for this motor, with 1000mah 2cell lipo'??? I want to use it on a 350 grams old timer plane. Thanks !!!
 Nicole 31 points
yes. will also work with a 8x4.3 Slowfly on 2S Lipo. I use 8x4.3 SF with this Motor in a Magnum
 Brian 35 points
I'm using an 8x4.3 on a 12 ounce plane but I'm running 3S, mine is a 3d plane so an old timer style you should be fine.
larry  6 points - 2/24/2013

Is the back bearing housing 6mm or 8mm I am using nano.tech 850mah lipos, What woud the best prop for max thrust, without pulling too many amps? thanks
 Crawdad 150 points
It's 8mm, Larry.
scott  9 points - 2/23/2013

I run one of these in a hobby zone mini cub with the 8x6 sf prop or the standard prop it pulls like a tractor on a rhino 610 7.4 lipo up to 1100 mah tiger lipo with a 12a esc great motors.
 larry 6 points
thanks for the information..
larry  6 points - 2/19/2013

What is the size of the bearing housing in the back of the motor? Thanks
 scott 9 points
I use original mount just cut it down to suit, using ply to fix motor to,doing this gives me the factory settings of motor pointing down to motor pointing right.

hobbyking have some amazing hextronic motor mounts that i have found the best of all mounts anywhere!!! www.link

What is the diameter of the motormount Ans the distance between the mounting holes??
Kevlar47  37 points - 1/22/2013

Rocco...you need to work on your links! Arzangel...THANKS....not really sure why HK can't spend 2 seconds to get someone on a micrometer to measure...then again, I have been very cautious of HK's measurements. Prices are decent, but when you can't use the items based on the piss poor measurements' or lack there of....it's not worth the headache. Sure you can but for 30% less...but if it doesn't fit who the hell cares!!!!
sam  6 points - 1/21/2013

Do you need to souter it
 Arxangel 890 points
Yes, you will have to solder your own connectors to the wires. Sadly, it does not come with connectors, so make sure you have spare connectors of the type you use.
Kevlar47  37 points - 1/1/2013

Does anyone know the shaft size?
 Rocco 1 points
look this www.link its replacement
 Arxangel 890 points
If you are talking about thickness, its 3mm. If you are talking about length, its just under 40mm. Search for this item: HXM2730-Shaft, it is a spare shaft for these motors.
 Arun 129 points
Its 3mm in diameter and 40mm in length...

Received yesterday afternoon. Installed in Depron Tigermoth. So far so good. Can not get this quality for the price in South Africa.
 Hendrik 8 points
And it flies well. The altitude does impact alot on the performance where I live. Should have gone vir 20% more power. Still good motor
 tommy2toes 2084 points
works great on that plane i have the same on mine but no altitude here.
monica  12 points - 12/20/2012

It sure does! It is removable with a set screw as well! Excellent motor for the price.

44 thumbs up!
This is a good motor for smaller props sizes than the 1300kv and 1500kv versions. In my bench testing I got the following numbers:

(With a 3s pack)
APC 5x5: 10.82v, 6.7A, 73.5W, 7.1oz thrust
Gunther 125mmx110mm: 10.73v, 7.08A, 76.4W, 9.4oz thrust
GWS 6x3DD: 10.82v, 5.68A, 62.3W, 12.1oz thrust
GWS 6x5SF: 10.49v, 10.86A (!), 114.2W, 13.1oz thrust
GWS 7x3DD: 10.74v, 6.67A, 72.5W, 14.7oz thrust

(With a 2s pack)
GWS 6x3DD: 7.91v, 3.61A, 28.7W, 7.8oz thrust
GWS 7x3DD: 7.84v, 4.36A, 34.3W, 8.8oz thrust
GWS 7x6SF: 7.35v, 9.5A, 70.6W, 11.9oz thrust
GWS 8x4DD: 7.5v, 7.59A, 57.5W, 13.7oz thrust

There is a good range of performance options for lightweight planes.

RECOMMENDED!

Thanks HC!

7 thumbs up!
This motor revs a GWS 8 x 4.3 @ 7000 rpm on 2s480 Tanic cells @ 8 amps. That gives you 300g of thrust.
Its a 12 Pol motor with 16 Magnets.
Weight is 24g. The performance of this motor could be improved by using smaller magnets, there is no gap between the mags. Coverrage of the mags should be under 80pcnt of the ring. The winding is lousy, my grandma can do better. "you get what you pay"

I have 4 of these motors. Need I say more? OK, I will. Great on sub 10oz planes, esp with a 8040HD prop on a 3S as a pusher on my 10oz flat jet. Keep the drag down and don't use more than an 8040HD prop. Even sounds pretty cool. We have 4 of these jets/motors at our field now. Can't go wrong if you use it on light foamie planes.

5 thumbs up!
Looking for a little parkjet motor and ran it up on 3S 1000 mah (Hextronic) got 14000 rpm at 6.7 amps with an APC 5x5. The 5.5 x 4.5 was a bit much for efficiency, the rpm dropped to 13200 and the amps went up to 8.1. With a 6 x 4 the Pentium 12 began to loose sync at 10k rpm. I like the 5x5.
