Why there isn´*t any heat shrink tube in NL warehouse for sale.
 anikeev 614 points
That's so sad but I even doesn't have warehouse placed in my country, so I order it international. That's better than buy cheap and unreliable tubes in local store.
dineshjindal  39 points - 3/20/2013

just burn the match stick or candle and move the shrink tube left right until shrinked do not keep in one position for long otherwise shrink tube will burn dj
Srijal Poojary  17 points - 3/19/2013

is there a another way to shrink this than a heat gun?
 Wout.S 325 points
A soldering iron or a lighter also work fine. When you use a lighter, don't put the heat shrink in the flame but just above it.
 Roger 2273 points
try a lighter. but make sure you dont keep burning at one spot, keep the lighter a bit further away and move around so the heat is distributed evenly

Best Heatshrink in the www Price is unbeatable !

For some reason I cant reply to my initial topic below. That's weird! But I'm planning to solder 3.5mm gold bullet connectors to 16AWG wires and I will solder 2 16AWG wires together without any connectors in between (wire to wire). Is 5mm heat shrink tube good for both applications or should I go for 4mm. Or perhaps I should go for 5mm for 16AWG with connectors and 4mm for only 16AWG wire to wire soldering. I hope I'm not to vague!
 Roger 2273 points
For 16AWG and 3.5mm bullet connectors. 4mm heat shrink tube is a perfect fit. 5mm is a bit loose.
 sharkey9 797 points
Definately go for 4mm tube.
Peter  43 points - 2/13/2013

Is this 5mm shrink tube suitable for both 12AWG cables and 16 AWG cables. Some will have connectors and some don't
 Gerry01 2912 points
AGW12 copper has 2 mm of diameter, with insulation that can go up to 4 mm and no less than 3 mm, so it will be ok. But for AGW12 maybe a bit big, you may need 4 mm shrink tube.
 Wout.S 325 points
As Gerry probably meant, for 16Awg it's a bit big. Unless you soldered a 4 mm gold connector to it, then you should use 5 mm shrink tube.
 Gerry01 2912 points
You're right... I meant AGW16. Thanks! Peter, go with 4 mm tube, or do as most of us do: have a lot of 2mm, 3mm, 4mm and 5mm tube and use them at will! for the price, it's not worth even to think it twice, and you will always find a good use at home.
 Gerry01 2912 points
Just in case you want to do your own calculation, this type of tube shrinks 2:1, so 4 mm can go down to 2 mm when heated.
Jorma  11 points - 2/12/2013

It will fit on 3-4,5 mm bullet connectors very good.
Yohana  35 points - 2/12/2013

I just realized that 5mm shrink tube is too big for XT60 connectors... I found 4mm is the best size for XT60. If you will use this with XT60, go for 4mm one.
Scottie  1 points - 1/24/2013

Can I use this diameter for the 3.5mm bullet connectors? If not, what would you recommend?
 Roger 2273 points
If you can solder without mess around the 3.5mm bullet connector, the 4mm shrink tube is a perfect fit. Otherwise, this will be a good choice. This will accommodate extra bulge of messy soldering.
 Gerry01 2912 points
This tubes can shrink up to 50% of it original size, so as long as your cable has less than 4 mm of external diameter, you're good. 5 mm might be better.
 anikeev 614 points
Yes, you can. I use it for 3mm and 4mm bullets. It shrinks to 2.5 mm and hold tight. If you use tiny wires you should get another tubes to shrink it on the wire (not the connector) unless you got same diameter with your connector. After that you can use this tube as usual. Hope this helps. BTW, buy all tubes with different colors and diametres. It's not so expensive and will be very helpful in future building. Use buddy-codes to buy it really cheap. Hope this helps.
 Gerry01 2912 points
Sorry, I got confused with the 4mm ones. This are 5mm, are ok.
 Nirvana john 2 points
yes you can use it for 3,5mm bullet !
MuppE_  26 points - 7/22/2012

Is this really the best for xt60's?
 Pushrod 585 points
Yes i think the 5mm is the best for the xt60's as it goes over the soldered contacts easily and shrinks tight on the cable.
 Jeffrey 2 points
Yes its really good and it fits perfectly.
 r_g_r 1123 points
I prefere the 4mm heat shrink for the XT60. Because the XT60 connectors are about 3mm in diameter. The 4mm heat shrink will be a much tighter and better fit.
 Mirko77_Italy 135 points
Yes, they give the best of themself with cables from 50-60pcnt to 85pcnt of their original diameter
 Devz_irl 23 points
4mm better.5mm when solder is on sides and messy
 Chris Walker 13 points

Definatly i put 1 to to inches on my connections and it hold for a very long time i have never had to re do the connections with this shrink tubbing. It is also very inexpensive so it is a great buy
 rcmasterj 10 points
4mm fits perfectly 5 mm is too lose and won't fit in properly.
 Randy 1 points
I personally have never had a problem with the 5mm shrunk tube and get a tight connection every time.
 coutinho- 7 points
yeah , i used in all of my connectors ,
 Adam 41 points
its not really the connector that limits with tube to use but the wire. if you using 12gauge wire like on the turnigy 3000mah 3s 20c lipos, you need 6 mm as the wire itself is 5mm. 5mm shink tube does well for most wires

Does a lighter spoil it's texture and colour ?
 shahwaiz 33 points
The oil lighter does but not the gas one .

I'm always using a gas lighter, it works perfect. No change in color or texture.
 antonio 1 points
no l' accendino e ottimo per questo
 nguyentran 21 points
nope. i dont own a heat gun and as such i always shrink it with lighter. but make sure you dont keep burning at one spot, keep the lighter a bit further away and move around so the heat is distributed evenly
 Lior 5 points
Zippo or any kind gas lighter will spoil it. Any cheep gas lighter will do the trick without spoiling it.
 Kostas7 6 points
I use a lighter, it's quite easy, the colour and teh texture stay the same, just if you burn it too long it starts smoking.
 keeper5 2 points
If you use a oil lighter then the heat shrink tube turns black, but if you just use a gas lighter for not to long it will be fine.
 Bacon Boy 2 points
I use a hair dryer and it works a treat! no more burnt heat shrink for me!
 kpv57 5 points
It depends on the distance from the tube to the light. Just experience before you do some critical work.
 Caden 13 points
The gas one does not

Guys is the 5mm the diammeter or the width of tube squashed flat?

It is the Diammeter. It is the one that comes with most motor and or esc.

It's un-shrinked size is 5mm. If you shrink it, it has approx. 2-3mm in diameter.

 fred0000 104 points
yes, most shrink tube will shrink by 50pcnt sizes shown are unshrunk as others have said.
 SLIDERTOUITA 11 points
IT WORKS WITH every ESC for 70 and more it fits well.you can also use it with accus from 5 to up cells
 Dillzio 403 points
original size is 5mm diameter shrunk size is 2mm diameter
 james 5 points
Starts as 5mm, shinks down after.

I own the Turnigy 5mm heat shrink and it barely fits the 10awg wires, i'd say it's ideal for 12awg wire.
 DennisT1 162 points
Pre-shrink size. Most HS tubing shrinks 50pcnt on heating.

I don't think you could get this stuff cheaper anywhere else in the US, even including shipping costs. This 5mm size is great for the new HobbyCity RIBBED Deans connectors!
