Charging LiPo Sorry never charged a liPo before. I have this 2 cell 1700 mAh lipo (Turnigy) and a HK charger For a fast charge do I just tell the charger that it is 7.4 volts and 1700 mAH (i.e. 1.7 amp) and let it get on with it, or do I fast charge at a higher rate? If anyone can help will be real grateful Michael O'

hey Michael.. Simple really If you want a fast charge just crank up the amps that the charger allows to flow to the battery whilst charging. But be careful you dont push the charge rate to high because every battery has different tolerances and specific limits set by manufacturers.. check the C rating usually written on the battery sticker and go by this.*** 3C charge rate.. this would mean in youre case 1700ma x3 which gives you 5100ma or 5.1 amps charge rate. Dont push for the highest number either just to be safe.. SO sumtin like 2.5c we will say for that battery..Understand remember just make sure you're not putting to much stress on you're battery while charging and make sure you're power supply can supply a little over you're chosen amps charge rate aswell to be safe..

Thanks hugely - I really can grasp the reasoning the way you have explained. I had previously (wrongly) assumed that in my above example a fast charge would need to be at 1C (1.7 amps) - its great to know that I am ok to push that to at least 2C (my charger has max 5 amps!) You are a star - thanks again!

Bought 3 of these, takes around 4 days to arrive (AB24,Scotland) on low postage. Really small, will fit any 1:16 car/truck even my 1:18 AE SC. All 3 had 0.05 to 0.010 difference on each cell. Not so perfectly ballanced...
