H-King Atom Mini Glider 750mm w/Battery (PNF) (UK Warehouse)

H-King Atom Mini Glider 750mm w/Battery (PNF) (UK Warehouse)
H-King Atom Mini Glider 750mm w/Battery (PNF) (UK Warehouse)

The Hobbyking Atom is a modern, fun Mini Glider injected with a bit of good old fashioned low tech simplicity! For a start, it is 3 Channel and it's powered by a pre-fitted 180 brushed motor, but don't let that fool you, flown WOT, the Atom is a suprisingly good performer!

Despite being made from tough EPO foam, the Atom is as light and floaty as you want a parkfly glider to be, the high quality construction is more high tech than low tech, with a carbon spar in the wing and also down the length of the fuselage boom. The pre-fitted servo's are actually 7.5g types with plenty of power, giving the Atom the ability to fly with authority. Assembly is really fast, and the model features a bolt on wing, even the wing bolt tool is included. Removing the nice quality magnetic canopy reveals a surprisingly large battery area, the supplied 250mAh 2s Lithium-Ion pack fits right up in the nose meaning larger packs for longer flight times or FPV gear can be fitted without making the model nose heavy.

The Atom's ultra-low flying weight and wing loading mean that even indoor flight is possible with the right sized hall, adding another dimension to the mix of low tech/high tech that makes the Atom so appealing and so reasonably priced. Ideal for both experienced and in-experienced pilots, the Atom is huge amounts of fun, nice quality and just a little bit different, time to go retro!

does a 1000mah 3s lipo fit in this plane?
 gouldie 401 points
you could get it in the plane but it is miles to heavy for this plane and if your running the standard motor anyway it will kill it in a few flights if it would even have enough power to fly. i ran a 2s 800mah in this and it could only just climb and if i cut the power it would drop like a rock

I agree. I bought it for my 5 year old to buddy box with me. He looses interest after a few minuets but I continue to fly it and I have a blast! I've crashed and repaired many times.

Arrived within 2 days of ordering, well packed in its kit box and then in a stout box for posting. No damaged or problems with any of the components, and pushrods are free in their tubes (some reviews on the international site mentioned this). No mention of c of g in manual, however others report that it should be on the spar. Will leave further review once flown, wind and rain permitting.

Weather good enough today for a test flight of the Atom. I used a 6 channel Orange rx pushed into the front of the fuselage with the antenna routed out through one of the side slots. Using the stock battery the c of g was on the wing spar, not as incorrectly stated in he instructions. Flying time was approx 7 minutes with no problems encountered. You do have to add opposite rudder to terminate turns though as due to the small amount of dihedral on the wing tips it will continue in the turn when the stick is centered. Plenty of power, after gaining altitude, I was using half throttle or less to avoid flying too high and losing visibility. There is a low voltage cut off on the esc which slows the motor when the pack voltage drops. If you throttle back you can then open up again for a brief burst of power if needed. Cell voltage measured upon landing was 3.38 volts per cell. To sum up I am very pleased with this purchase.

Delivered to my door in 2 days and what a great little plane. I did however have a problem with glue on one of the pushrods but after taking it off the servo I managed to pull it clear and clean it. I installed my reciever and esc in a space under the wing which inturn left loads of space upfront for an 800 mah turnigy batt (about 3 quid from UK) and it balances just behind the carbon wing spar. This gave about 15 mins flying time at wot. Very easy to fly in gentle winds and flys better with the larger batt than the one supplied. Don't delay buy now. Great value for money.

Nice little 3 ch powered glider which arrived in perfect condition. Using 450 mAh Gens Ace 2s pack which is a nice push fit at the front of the fuse. C of g on the spar but with the supplied pack a little behind & more nervous. Needs a dive before attempting a loop but nice and stable as you can see from the uploaded video. Will see if it can carry my #16 keycam for some aerial videos.

What a great little model. it fly's well but i feel the rudder authority is not enough so i have converted to ailerons. i will also be upgrading to brushless to give it more power. i enjoy it because its nice to do some lazy flying. overall 5 stars
