Hi i brought a axn put it together and flew it a few.times and then.lookd and relasised i could fit a bigger prop on so i got a 6x4 prop and it fits fine. What a difference makes the plane a lot faster and climb verital very impressed. Has any o e ells tryed this of somthind g ells and i like to change and try new things Thanx jamie

order the axn from uk warehouse on 24hr delivery. that was 10 days ago.still waiting . and customer support is a waste of time.first time i used HK and will be the last
 BenC_1981 53 points
I ordered from the HK warehouse (motors, escs) 8 days ago, and my order arrived (in the UK) three days ago. When I ordered my AXN from the UK warehouse, it was here in 48 hours. Have you tried the Support Forum for HK delivery?
 Stevies5 25 points
Sean, I waited 6 days for a plane on 24hr delivery. I tracked the thing down and it sat at stoopid bloody useless Parcelforce's depot for 4 of those days. Did you check the status on your account page to see if it was shipped?
 sean 1 points
Hi steves5. just done the same mate, its been sitting in a parcel force depot for 7 days.so went and collected it today don't trust them to post out again lol. anyway cheers mate. fly safe guys

Hi there, does anybody know if the zippy flightmax 2200mah 3s 25c x-thin battery will fit into this? it's 135mm long. I'm about to order the plane but the uk site seems low on suitable batteries.
 BenC_1981 53 points
i would say it's going to fit, but could be tight up against the servos. There is a lot of room, and there is a good space inside the nose. personally, I run the Turnigy 2200 3s 20C in mine, they're cheap and the CofG is spot on with it in the nose.
 ajbaker 465 points
There is no reason that I know of to use an X-Thin LiPo. You can use any std LiPo (20C or more) between 1600mah-2200mah if the problem is availability.
 Michael 41 points
I have a 2600mAh 3s battery that is 110mm long. It fits, just. I agree with BenC_1981 it may fit, but it will be tight up against the servos and they won't operate correctly because the wire rods will be pushing into the battery. You will have to mount the receiver on the bulk head above the servos. I'd go for something smaller. Happy flying Berry!
 Stevies5 25 points
I use the exact battery you mention, it doesn't go anywhere close to the servos. I bought these batteries, simply because HK don't keep a good stock of 2200 3s. They DO fit in the AXN, the Bixler2 as well, no problem at all, I know this because I have one, tried and tested. Hope this helps.
Ken  2 points - 5/14/2013

Hey Mike_RC...Did you ever get a helpful answer to the pulsing problem with your AXN? Mine is doing the same.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Top Tip If youre going to install higher grade servo,s and use extra channels for flaperons ( using both aileron servo,s to a seperate receiver channel then install a seperate ubec and disconnect the esc ubec. The pusling problem is more than likley a fluctuation in power distibution to your motor, No doubt everything will run fine for 5 mins or so until your esc starts to feel the heat. This can cause motor pulsing loss of servo control causing them to stick in a fixed position and fall from the sky. You cant just upgrade certain parts without making the correct changes to other parts. esc power motor servo,s reveiver.

Everything on my AX N is stock from the factory. This is my second AXN with stock parts and the first one never did the pulsing thing. I have the stock ESC (AE-25A) sitting within the fuselage behind the servos just like my previous AXN. Should I just move the ESC to a more vented position, maybe?
 Jlaw71 133 points
Most views on the axn floater are of top quality but the stock esc is the big let down. I always change stock esc it seems to be the biggest let down from Hobbyking up to date.Im very into the Bixler 1 artf it doesnt come with stock esc wich means im not paying for something im going to strip out anyway.
 Ken 2 points
Do you have a recommendation for an upgraded ESC?
 Jlaw71 133 points
I myself swear bu the Turnigy Trust ESC,s So for the AXN ide use a Turnigy Trust 30a
 Ken 2 points
Hmmm...Can't find the Turnigy Trust 30a but found 45a version. PRODUCT ID: TST-BEC45A. Sorry for the rookie question but will this work with the AXN instead?
 Mike_RC 5 points
I was flying the new axn with the parts transferred it made the noise again but the battery when I checked it was nearly dead so I think it is more likely to be a low power warning. Well I lost the canopy, whilst diving from about 800M the wind clipped the canopy, I didn't know these had ejector seats, I managed to regain control with 30Mph winds and land it near my feet. I looked for a while for the canopy but...will need a new one.
 AmyS3 24 points
seems that i had the same problem, now that i read this here, and lost my plane due to it... i was flying for the xx time one day and while i made a big circle over a "residential" area (i know we should not do that) the plane became almost uncontrolable all of a sudden. i barely made it away from the houses but endet up in a tree, 27 foot above the ground. as it was getting dark i planned to recover her the next day after work since she was securely stuck, but the plane was gone by then :/
 Mike_RC 5 points
Lucky I have a spare AXN ** so the canopy is replaced, the rx has now been mounted infront of the motor to get the gc correct, I would recommend a good TX rx setup so it doesn't loose signal, and it is defernatly a low power warning when the motor pulses, so make sure you land within a few minutes of the pulsing noise or you will only have gliding ability but with plenty of height and low head wind. Generally with a 2200mA battery you can get about 1hr of flight if you don't go full throttle otherwise you will get 10 to 20 minutes ** I had the first AXN in a tree for a few hrs I since upgraded to a 9x setup.
Mike_RC  5 points - 4/28/2013

I have just been flying the AXN again, so addicted to this model - low head wind and gunning the throttle, then there is a pulsing noise as though the motor was changing voltage? anyone had this before. And I must say this thing keeps going lol, that’*s 2 trees and numerous nose crashes to my record lol as the wind changed to 20mph with gusts of 25-30mph which is when the noises started and I had to ground it for the time being :(
 Techy111 1 points
Just wondering , did you check the prop ? Might be flexing slightly in the strong wind changing the resonance (sound) of it ? Just a thought :) Tony
 Mike_RC 5 points
Well my shiny new 9X and metal servos turned up, there now fitted and this model is now able to fly for long ranges, I have modded the ESC so it now sits in the canopy and it now behaves it's self, have put the flaparons on but not tried them out yet :) Check out the mod, and yes a 8ch receiver does fit in this model with a 2200 lipo it is a tight fit though and does make it a little nose heavy but can be trimmed out.

Just wondering if a 2200mah 3s 70C battery would be OK for the on board electronics and any effects on the CG point, thanks for any help.
 Jason 8 points
hi andy i use a 2200mad lipo in the front of mine in order to do this i cut 3mm of foam away from where the battery sits if ur gonna be useing 70c battreys just cut a lil more foam from the nose maybe an extra 2mm or so either side and it will sit very nicly in there u may also find u will go a lot faster that a standerd 20c battrey ive topped over 100mph with mine in wind so u will be fine for speed hope this helps jason p.s. this will make sence when u open up the canopy

what under a $100 radio can i get to fly this? sorry first propper rc plane
 HANENG18 2 points
I would highly recommend the OrangeRX T-SIX, it is a 6 channel DSM2 transmitter. Also it is programmable so if in the future, when you progress in the hobby, you could maybe get a plane with elevons, flaps etc. The best bit is that it is a steal at $64.99!!
 STEVE966 23 points
Hi noah, I been using the turnigy 9x. For the money its amazing value. Have been flying my axn now for many many months with it. No problems at all.
 Irishbug 19 points
Steve966, where did you mount the 9X RX on your AXN? Im trying to figure out where to install mine. Thanks

Are you sure? The axn floater replacement motor says 20A is max
 Jlaw71 133 points
Yes mate im sure 25 with a 50c burst that plane can take alot of stick for a stock set up Its one of the best i have come across on stock
Josh  26 points - 4/4/2013

So would the 6ch HK transmitter be OK for the AXN? just for simple flying or would I need a dedicated 4ch system?
 Jlaw71 133 points
No mate you dont need a dedicated 4 ch transmitter Thats the minimum you need 4ch. As long as you have a Receiver to go into the Plane that is compatible with the Hk 6ch its fine. I use a 8ch radio and fly 4ch models all the time. The extra channels on transmitters are for gears , Flaps , Dual Ailerons and other add ons
Josh  26 points - 4/2/2013

Can you use a Turnigy nano-tech 25c battery? Will it be ok for the ESC/Motor?
 Jlaw71 133 points
yes turnigy 25c is fine
 ajbaker 465 points
That depends on what the 25C battery is. a 500mah LiPo would not be a good idea.
Josh  26 points - 4/2/2013

Does the transmitter need elevon mixing? Thanks Josh.
 Jlaw71 133 points
no doesnt need elevon mixing that mix is for planes that use the elevator and ailerons on the same channel This model has its own ailerons and elevator and rudder and channel for esc hence it being a 4 channel ( although on most of my 4 ch models i actually use 5 because i like both ailerons to run on a seperate channel rather than the y lead

Thanks so much for your useful advice, it's food for thought. I might not be so scared of getting a four channel plane now. I'll probably think about it some more before I proceed.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Always good to take your time Remember when you do eventually choose a model Take your time on the build make sure everything is fixed and secure Make sure you do all the pre flight test range check, battery life check, servo check, check that prop is running correct way and don,t forget to remove bind key once bound ( my first mistake lol ) The excitement wants you to rush it but take your time. The buzz of a great flight and a safe landing beats that cant wait excitement hands down.
Berry  6 points - 3/11/2013

Hi folks, I am a total beginner in rc flight and was intending to get a three channel plane as a first model but I like the look of the floater jet. Could you fly it without using the ailerons? Or would I be better to stick to a three channel model to begin with?
 AmyS3 24 points
Hi Berry. I would not suggest to fly this one without ailerons due the low mounting of the wings. But it is a great plane for beginners as it can fly realy gentle thanks to the big wingsize. i myself started with 3 channels as well with a silverlit piper j3 cub but having ailerons is a great advantage. i would always recommend to start with 4 channels since you do not need to adjust youself when you switch from 3 to 4 channels and you will crash the plane probably both times. well at least i did :)
 Jlaw71 133 points
I agree with AmyS3 I myself found it easier to fly a 4ch using ailerons than i did a 3ch and relying on Rudder Control. Dont be scared of the thought of a extra Channel You will soon depend on the Ailerons over the rudder for banking and Turning Just Remember when turning with Ailerons to give a little Lift with elevator and you will of cracked it.Oh and Golden Rule .. When testing Ailerons Make sure your right Aileron raises when you hit your controller right. Sounds Simple i know but lost of couple of planes threw a easy mistake.
 STEVE966 23 points
completely agree with the comments above, also with the floater jet if you do crash it which we all do as beginners, it very easy to repair with a hot glue gun! its one of the most forgiving planes i have flown, if you want to just potter about its happy as it is if you fancy flying it flat out, if you need any more advice feel free to ask on here, we are all here to help.
BenC_1981  53 points - 3/5/2013

Thank you. It was the sizes I was wondering about. Guess I should've checked the profit description. :/
BenC_1981  53 points - 3/5/2013

What battery is best (fit) for this please? Thank you.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Nano Tech 1800 or 2200mAh 3s Lipoly It does say in the recommended section They are both the same size so both fit perfectly You get a longer flight time with the 2200mah obviously
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 ajbaker 465 points
It depends on your needs. Both LiPos will work. However, both the 1800 and 2200mah are different weights and sizes. Otherwise, we would have to break the laws of physics to get more power from the same size LiPo.
Nikos  5 points - 3/4/2013

The actual size of the AXN floater is less than the one advertised on March 3rd, 2013. i.e. 1290mm/860mm Why this has happened ?
 Jeff-C 72 points
Not sure. All of the AXN are advertised at the same size. It might be a newer version by the manufacturer. It is a size mentioned across the site in all warehouses, so maybe a global change in dimension or a global mistype. All I know is it is a great little plane. Credit it the answer was any good to you. Thanks and enjoy!
 ajbaker 465 points
I just got a kit and the sizes of it are exactly the same as advertised. However, on the box, it shows a Wing Span of 1127mm - which is an obvious typo.
Stevies5  25 points - 2/26/2013

Just a quick heads up for anyone thinking of buying. This is the first RC aircraft I've ever flown, (no take off or landings yet,)and I must say it's a lot of fun to fly stock, I'm doing circuits no problem. I haven't noticed any lack of power and it pretty much leaps into the sky when my instructor launches it. I have mine all glued up and can still fit it in the front seat of a Z4. Hope this will give a bit of encouragement to new fliers like me.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Yes its a Popular fave for most beginners and i do not know why it seems to look bigger in the sky then when its on the ground lol

David  1 points - 2/10/2013

Hi All. I bought the AXN Floater a few weeks ago, I finally got to fly it today. My only real problem is the motor takes ages to pick up any sort of speed, it's like a super soft start and does not feel right. Other versions in the club have instant power. There is no instructions with the ESC so have no idea if it's faulty or needs setting up.
 Jlaw71 133 points
Yes sounds like the ESC hasnt been programmed properly you could google for the beep settings to change the soft start for your esc Or you could just replace it its the first thing most people replace from a stock set up anyway and invest in the programing card for the esc you choose makes life alot easier

Can anyone give me some advice, I have just bought an AXN Floater. I have a spare 2.4GhZ radio and receiver which I connected up. I binded the transmitter and receiver and everything seems to operate correctly except the throttle? When I connect the battery to the ESC I get the normal beeps etc and the red light is solid.I am using a 2200mah 3s battery. I can then operate the throttle which is fine until I shut it right down, including the trim switch, but the motor carries on running at approx 100rpm? I would appreciate any advice to solve the problem.
 Jlaw71 133 points
You need to set the failsafe on the receiver it sounds like to me. Most cases set up as though you was going to rebind but. Place the bind key in receiver with transmitter off you will get blink blink at a fast pace leave switched on but remove the bind key the blinking will slower its pace. Now turn on your transmitter with throttle set at zero and i always just touch the elevator a touch down to give it a bit of lift should it lose signal with transmitter makes for abetter ditch landing. Hope this helps :D

dont forget to put some tape on the wings to hold them in as i did lol and my wing decided to go it alone around 150ft the prop took a chunk out of one wing and the body hit the ground like flying turd still not much damage 1 chunk from the wing 2 nose slighty bent 3 body split at the joyn so a fast fix for me lol i put a 6x5 insted of 5x5 prop aand it gave me a better vertical flight and level speed was having fun the the wings poped out hahahahahahaahh were was the cam at this point in me mates bag *(
 SimonUK80 13 points
Is the glass fibre tape good to tape the wings on ? and do you need to tape top and underneath of wing ? Thanks.
 demondeyez 13 points
hi mate yeah it should be ok or use grilla tape its well good ..wot ive done is put tape on one wing put the wing in the plane with the other end of tape out the other side then put the other wing on and tape down bit fiddly but if you fold the tape over the fuz of the plane it makes it a bit easer
RJM16  12 points - 1/27/2013

how would I balance this with a 2200 mah 3s. I flew it earlier(well it kind of just fell) and it nose dived straight away with full throttle and full up elevator
 demondeyez 13 points
i would stick to a 1800 as you can get a lot of air time on one but if you want to use the 2200mah find out the weight diffrence to the 1800 and get some bluetack weigh it to make the 1800 the same as the 2200 then stick it on the back end of the body and move it to the front untill its balanced
 STEVE966 23 points
hi rjm, i fly mine all the time with a 2200mah. did you have full throttle on before you launched it? if so i think thats the problem, try it at half throttle, throw it slightly up too. with the position of the motor, when you apply full throttle the nose will dip downwards. hope this helps..
 rcallan1952 18 points
hi rjm, i have just bought one of these, they are very tail heavy and will stall even with the battery pushed as far up the nose as you can you will probably have to add weight,i added 38g to mine, when you get the right ballance,(youtube has lots of how to do this)i'm sure it will fly o.k

delivered and built today and for a model made of foam this aint half heavy with a 2200mah 3s however it does fly well considering the weight. give it 4 stars for quality becasue motor mount came lose after 3 flights, glued back on with hot glue working fine now, highly recommend using a prop adapter instead of proper saver as its just not secure enough prop popped off on flight 2 and lost prop, prop is out of harms way most the time so prop adapter makes sense for this.

The AXN floater jet is a A1 trainer to fly, Nice thrust to weight on a 3 cell 2200, Small problem was when received the PNF version one of the servo's in the wing had failed out the box, SO TEST BEFORE YOU TAPE UP, Also one wing had some extra foam left on the trailing edge from production had to sand off, Make sure you are very careful when installing the vertical stabilizer not to get ANY glue on the elevator push rod as will cause lots of problems, Replaced my stock 25amp ESC (got very hot under load) with a 30amp with 3 amp BEC ,A 3mm Prop collet is a must to reduce vibration, Would I recommend the AXN?? That would be YES (but NOT the PNF version)

Ordered Friday 13th on a 48 - arrived today in very good order. Parts all packed individually in bubble wrap. Fits together fine. Have tested the motor and the magnets are well and truly attached. Will await a drop in the wind - howling here today - and let it get into the air! So far very impressed, especially for the very low price!

By far one of the best finishes on the epo foam very glossy /smooth.. it glides like a bird or can really get a move on ive clocked this over 175kmh in a strong wind on my fpv osd videos on you tube wayneuk .This model is my fpv plane its fantastic for this it will carry quite a payload yet still glide nice. A friend has had a 40 min flight with this plane fpv with a 2200 3s lipo ... i REALLY LOVE this plane ive a few extra in the loft for when i do smash it up & carnt fix it.. BUT HOT WATER SEEMS TO RESHAPE ALL THOSE MISHAPS OR HAS SO FAR FULL BLOWN 5 STAR PRODUCT ...STOCK MOTOR IS GOOD SERVOS NOT SO GOOD BUT HXT 900 X 4 & A GOOD 30 AMP ESC WILL KEEP YOU IN THE AIR SO DONT GET RTR OR IF YOU DO GET HXT 9G SERVOS & A GOOD 30AMP ESC
