With it's huge sail bright colours and carbon fibre effect hull, this is a very striking and fast R/C Yacht. All required items are installed, including mainsail winch, steering servo and all rigging, sail and hardware. All you need to do is add your own receiver and battery! Boat hull is based entirely on a racing yacht and moulded in fibreglass with a perfect gelcoat and enamel painted carbon fibre effect finish. In a stiff breeze these boats can be extremely quick and perform turns rapidly, proving to be very exciting.

Thanks a lot Greatbigste for your comments and taking the trouble to send me a reply. I've just taken delivery of the Legend today. At the moment all I've managed to do is unpack it and check it over, everything appears to be fine apart from a dummy capstan near the stern which is missing. It looks great and I'm very pleased with HK their service has been excellent I will defo be using them again.
Have you heard of the forum site called shipshaperc**** they are dedicated to the Chinese Shunbo range of RC yachts (Hobbyking range) and have lots of mods documented well worth a visit.
Hi, I have had most of the yachts from HK and found them to be fine, but obviousley built to a price ! Sometimes the sail servo mounts cam come adrift in transport but a little epoxy soon soets this out. Just remember to go to your local scuba diving shop for your led shot to fill the keel bulb, its miles cheaper than buying it from a model shop !! as for the difference between the two boats there is very little to choose between them, I would say the Phantom has slightly sleeker lines, but they both perform alike, choose your colour and get a cheap yacht for summer.
Hi I am new to RC sailing and am undecided which model to choose between Phantom and Legend. Therefore is there anyone out there who could advise me of the pros and cons for each model, thanks.
Hi, I am completely new to the sport so any help would be much appreciated. What else do I need to buy with the Phantom to be up and sailing, on a budget!!! which ones!
Please dont buy this yacht the fitting that holds the goosneck to the mast is cheap plastic as are lots of the fittings and mine broke while assemlbling it,Hobby king have so far refused to refund me and keep asking me to unpack it again and take photos of the broken part that one of there people first told me to glue back together,i cant now take pics of the broken part as its now fixed but im not confident it will hold up.Please dont buy it unless you dont mind fixing things and not been able to get spares as they do not have spare parts.
No the mast isnt plastic but a lot of the parts are and liek i said the bracket with the ball joint broke. As for your sarcastic coment, for your information im a proffesional boat builder teime served and i now manufacture rc powerboats.I just fancied a change of pace but im very disapointed in the quallity of this kit which is downright poor.
Hi Mark, I ve just bought some Lead shot from local Diving and Scuba shop. Works out about £*8 per Kilo, You need more of course for this yacht, Although I dont think the bulb will take much more than 1.3kg
dont buy it its cheap rubbish all the fittings are weak, mine broke on assembly and they have not issued me a refund instead theyre stalling me.Dont waste your money, they dont stock spares and you will end up having to replace most of the parts for better.
Hi thanks for that any idea what part to serach for im nto too clued up on the names of all the small parts its the bracket with small ball joint on it it simply broke away when i fitted the goosneck onto it.
martin
looking at the picture the best match is PW 15 you will be completely replacing the gooseneck & kicker ring Peter or Leslie on 01202 744101
i,m sure they will help you
Mark
i cannot find one listed why do you need a spare?
i make my own with a 1.5"copper pipe fill it with lead then rasp it to shape you can make it heavier & sail in stronger winds
regards Bob
i bought the Phantom out of interest as i sail 1mtr yachts in MYA competetion races, it is a good starter yacht if you want to learn the sport, i will change the ballast for a 2.3kg bulb and the winch for a more reliable one and a 22g counter balance on the jib the rigging will get tweeked as needed
Can you just buy the 2.3kg bulb ready made somewhere, or do you have to make your own?
One of the main things I'm wondering about these boats is where to get a couple of kg of lead shot, or similar. I imagine that could cost a lot of money.
Thanks. I googled that number and found it was Housemartin Sails. They said they don't do them but suggested P J Sails. There's one in their catalog for £*25 postage - though the catalog is two years old, as are the postal rates, so it's probably a bit dearer by now (especially the postage). I'm now wondering how safe it is to just cut up old car batteries and 6V SLAs for the lead. I've got plenty of lead in dead battery form.
Thanks, Bob. I'll look into that soon. I won't bother him just yet because I've just paid my car insurance so I can't afford another boat at the moment.
andy
make your own it is easy i have already said how to do it on this blog please do not melt old batteries down you will kill yourself with the fumes of the sulphuric acid go to a builders yard they sell lead sheet or try a s****yard
do i now discount on this product as i am now a new customer.

First up you need 1800 g of ballast, and a good deal of other advice on how to make this great sailboat really rock.
www_shipshaperc_com is the foremost information website for all these Hobby King stocked rc sailboats.
You can sail these boats virtually "out of the box", but not as well or as enjoyable as you can learn from those who have come along earlier.

Excelent service from the UK warehouse. Ordered monday morning and received tuesday morning. The quality is reasonable, certainly excellent for the price. Will comment further when assembled and sailed.

I ordered one of these just to have something different as I mainly do speed boats but my local club like sail it didn't take long to put together and I put 1.36 kilo in the bulb but that was max lead I could fit in ,I took to local lake in a decent breeze and it was great for a first time sail boat but if it was higher winds you would need at least 1.8 kilo but all things said you cannot beat this product for the price as I bought the 2.2 meter sail 1st that cast £20 more and it's not as nice as this one great product..

Thanks to all you guys in discussion icon for your help. I received Phantom on Tues ,and its ready to sail . I am suprised at value for money....its excellent .Other suppliers are quoting up to £200 for a similar size. The lead shot ballast I bought from the Diving shop came in 1mil balls and I was able to put in 1.6 Kg which might be ok for light to moderate winds . All we have to do is wait for a decent day , hopefully this weekend.
