H-King Atom Mini Glider 750mm w/Battery (PNF) (AUS Warehouse)
The Hobbyking Atom is a modern, fun Mini Glider injected with a bit of good old fashioned low tech simplicity! For a start, it is 3 Channel and its powered by a pre-fitted 180 brushed motor, but dont let that fool you, flown WOT, the Atom is a suprisingly good performer!
Despite being made from tough EPO foam, the Atom is as light and floaty as you want a parkfly glider to be, the high quality construction is more high tech than low tech, with a carbon spar in the wing and also down the length of the fuselage boom. The pre-fitted servos are actually 7.5g types with plenty of power, giving the Atom the ability to fly with authority. Assembly is really fast, and the model features a bolt on wing, even the wing bolt tool is included. Removing the nice quality magnetic canopy reveals a surprisingly large battery area, the supplied 250mAh 2s Lithium-Ion pack fits right up in the nose meaning larger packs for longer flight times or FPV gear can be fitted without making the model nose heavy.
The Atoms ultra-low flying weight and wing loading mean that even indoor flight is possible with the right sized hall, adding another dimension to the mix of low tech/high tech that makes the Atom so appealing and so reasonably priced. Ideal for both experienced and in-experienced pilots, the Atom is huge amounts of fun, nice quality and just a little bit different, time to go retro!
Hello, can anyone help me to choose backup props for this plane? I'm kinda new to this stuff and I expect 2 props would be broken wery soon, but there are no clues on what propellers goes with this kit.
Try product ID. GWS-prop-DD-4540 and you will need prop adapter to fit your brushed motor. I think motor shaft is 2mm, so something like "Prop adapter w/ Alu Cone 3/16x32-2mm shaft (Grub Screw Type)"
I had the same problem. Broke both props and looked for replacements. I couldn't find any. the problem is that the prop is push on (pressure fit)and there are no props I could find to fit. further more the motor shaft is far too short to accept a prop adapter. here's what I did: I purchased a brushless motor (PRODUCT ID: T1811-2900) ESC (PRODUCT ID: TR-6A) and props (PRODUCT ID: TGS4.1x4.1E) I removed the old motor and installed a balsa motor. The performance is slightly better with much longer run time.
elolz_Au,
You might want to read the description again (plus look at the pictures), it is a three (3) channel plane!!!
Ch 1 - THROTTLE
Ch 2 - ELEVATOR
Ch 3 - RUDDER
NO AILERONS
It will fit fine. i have orange dsm2 receiver in mine and have no issues. if removing outer case of receiver is an option that will save a little space. hope this helped.
Hi I bought a H-King Atom Mini Glider 750mm w/Battery (PNF) (AUS Warehouse) & the recommened ZIPPY Flightmax 500mAh 2S1P 15-25C as a spare battery. I have a Turnigy ACC6 Accucell 6 charger that i have also purchased previously. Can i charge the Atom's included 250mAh Lithium-Ion Battery & the ZIPPY Flightmax 500mAh 2S1P 15-25C spare battery with my ACC6? Can i purchase the correct size adapters/connectors to go from the ACC6 to the batterys or do i need a whole new charger?
The Accucell 6 chargers are great and I have four of them to charge all my batteries quickly.
You need one of these: www.link can charge your transmitter on the charger also but make sure you use the right plug or you might blow something up. There is a JR and Futaba plug on that harness. Do not take off the cover on the one that is not your transmitter. Also be careful not to short out the transmitter plug with the Deans plug when charging say on the small JST socket. I only use Deans plugs so that suits me and I cut off the yellow plugs on the batteries. If starting now and you do get big batteries I would keep the yellow plugs on and you will also need this adapter or make an adapter cable up. www.link WARNING WARNING If you put the charger on the wrong settings for LiPo,Lithium-Ion etc the WILL catch fire. Never leave them unattended when charging. I have a few metal tool boxes to keep my batteries in.
saeed ok she is now at the USE Warehouse so time for you to BUY OK.

Great value, much better slow flier than the miniswift. Easy construction, BUT the control rods on mine where glued tight inside the guide tube, major job to fix. Could really use ailerons, wouldn't be to hard to add yourself. Doesn't like any wind at all, but still flyable in light winds.

A nice package - well thought-out assembly and quality manufacturing. I found the rudder quite small, although it was a simple job to cut in to the fin and add area all the way to the top (forward as well for an attempted aerodynamic balance - for the little it buys). Agree with previous comment - does not cope with wind. Not the simplest model to fly as I found that it needed to be flown very accurately (not a trainer) as it is particularly easy to spin as a glider (I suspect this is why the original rudder was small - although it would enter with full deflection at low speed before the rudder mod). Recovers with controls central. Relatively short flight time - even with a 500 mAh pack, a function of the brushed motor. Overall - I've certainly had my $40 of fun already!

Nice construction quality but the fuselage on mine arrived with the two sides glued together out of true, so it had a lateral bend along it. Not a big deal. Flight characteristics are as others said, spins easily if too much rudder is input and doesn't handle well in wind; you spend most of your time trying to keep it level. Not a glider for beginners, I gave a couple of novices a go and all they could do was enter spiral dives...
A minor problem is that the canopy pops off with any landing that isn't perfect, and it normally takes the plastic catch that holds the front down with it (the back is held with a magnet). I've lost count how many times I've had to glue that back on.
You can't beat the price though!

A few mods later - a very nice little craft. Turnigy 1811-200 brushless with 12A speedie, GWS DD4540 prop and 2S 500 mAh pack. Great combo, time to height about a third of before, cg forward and spinning issue almost completely gone. Took about an hour to mod - well worth it.
As with others control rods were glued inside the sleeves, to fix required cutting 5CM x 2CM hole in the bottom of the plane to access and repair. Problem turned a simple 20 min build into a 3 hour drama. Plane flies as it should with 500mah 2 cell lipo as far forward as it can be. I have added LED and fiber-optic lights and it's now my night fly plane, still flies well with added weight of lights.
