Hi,Can I use this board for 30Amps ESC, d2830-11 1000kv motor and 3000mAh battery ? If this is not correct one,Please suggest another way. Thanks! Krutarth
 Roger 2701 points
Hi krutarth, this distribution board should be able to take 30A ESC as you won't be flying at 30A current all the time. If you think you will be flying at 30A current most of the time, the Hobbyking Multi-Rotor Power Distribution Board (DIY 8 x output PCB) with a rating of up to 8 x 20A outputs (MAX) should be more appropriate for your application.
Josh  1 points - 6/9/2013

is that deans or would that work with the turnigy 2200mah lipo
 Roger 2701 points
That's XT60, and it works with turnigy 2200mah lipo.
 Leo72 34 points
I'm using it with nanotech 2200mah
kim  2 points - 6/6/2013

Does this come up as photo showing with XT60 mail connector and wire soldered including 8 ESC' plug?
 Roger 2701 points
It comes with XT60 for the power input, and 4 x 3.5mm Female bullet plug for the ESC.
jhelm  7 points - 6/1/2013

Sorry i was trying to reply to Djonsnel. I want to use the board with a battery using 4mm bullet connector. The board is using XT60. Which adapter do i need?
 eddfoo 471 points
Unsolder the XT60 and solder one of this (SKU: AM1009x10) on the distribution board.
jhelm  7 points - 5/31/2013

Which adapter to use? i dont find it on hobbyking.
 Eduardo 25 points
Well the bullet connectors are the ones you are looking for... PolyMax 3.5mm Gold Connectors 10 PAIRS (20PC)you have to build the ESC so they connect into the board, just keep in mind that some ESC have already build in the connectors. hope you are talking about that. Good luck!
Dylan  2 points - 5/28/2013

okay so would i use this to power a Multiwii and Megapirate AIO Flight Controller w/FTDI (ATmega 2560) V2.0?
 rahulvyas 374 points
nope. u need a ubec
 Clement 7 points
any esc that has a bec will work actually
Dylan  2 points - 5/27/2013

what are the 2 little pins on the board for?
 Kheops 7 points
They are for voltage measurement, in case you want an alarm or telemetry.
 Zebra1188 104 points
Or if You want to add a voltage regulator for Receiver or any added component you want to power without ESC's.
 dlh1975 50 points
or you can connect leds to it like I have.
Kodiak181  1 points - 5/26/2013

I'm assuming you mean to the ESCs? you'll need 8 - 3.5mm male bullet connectors just to connect to this board. 4 positive and 4 neg. depending on how you connect to the ESCs, 4 ESCs to 4 motors, you will need another 12 male and female bullets. I ordered 3 bags so i had some extras after my HJ450 build. lots of soldering, but worth it. Hope this helps!
Dylan  2 points - 5/26/2013

do you need any connectors to connect the output to the motor controller?
Phillips  4 points - 5/13/2013

Hi, I was wondering what are the dimensions for the holes in this piece?
 Gary 3059 points
The mounting holes in the 4 corners are 3.2mm and the centre hole is 14.8mm.
Forrest L  75 points - 5/10/2013

Be carful. The red and black shrink tube on one set of connectors was reversed on the one I received. Check your board carefully to make sure you don't get tricked into hooking up the - leads on a esc backwards. The black shrike tube was on the positive connector and the red shrink tube was on the negative connector.
 waterlogged 2844 points
No they aren't reversed. It's the way the board is made. Opposite sides have the positive on the left and the other two sides have them on the right. To have them all the same would mean the positive and negative tracks would have to cross somewhere. Just plug your ESC leads in by colour not by position.
 Forrest L 75 points
I beg to differ. My board had black heat shrink on 1 positve connector and red heat shrink on 1 negative connector! The other 3 pairs were correct.
Colby  6 points - 5/4/2013

can this board take 30 amp esc's
 anikeev 643 points
It depends on your motor max current not ESC max current. It can take up to 20A per one motor. 21A maybe. Or even 22A. Or even (short-time peak) 30A. Hope that helps.
 eddfoo 471 points
Anikeev is correct, I am using this with 30a Esc with 4 x 23A max motors ( Quad ) , no problem.:-)
 Ayberk 38 points
Yes, but you have to solder bullet connectors onto the ESC or just directly solder on to the board.
 eddfoo 471 points
I used 3.5mm connectors.
 Djonsnel 37 points
I use the board with 30A Multistar ESC's and it works perfect so the answer is YES it can take 30A ESC's

is this board good for H.A.L. quadcopter? I'm planning to build with 35x30 motors with 30a escs. 3s set up. would i be drawing more than the board can handle? let me know. thanks.
 rahulvyas 374 points
Nopes. This board is fine. I use it with 25A ESCs and 3S. But its fine. You can trust this board.
 anikeev 643 points
It completely depends on motors. I use 25A ESC but max current for motors is about 18A (I use DT750). If you're gonna use 25A motors or higher I would recommend PCB board with no connectors at all. Sku 9171000180. It can take up to 8 motors 20A each, or 4 motors 40A each. It would fit better for your needs. Hope that helps.
shimon  6 points - 4/19/2013

you can unsolder the bolt connectors and solder your esc Straight on that
 Roger 2701 points
Yeah you can do that. Or just buy the Hobbyking Multi-Rotor Power Distribution Board (DIY 8 x output PCB). Its the one without bullet connectors.
 anikeev 643 points
You need really powerful soldering iron for that or even heat gun. Better try board that Roger recommend: SKU 9171000180.
Harry  2 points - 4/15/2013

can this work on a tricopter if not what will
 Roger 2701 points
This will work for a tricopter. But you can also use a power breakout cable instead like this, XT60 to 3 X 3.5mm bullet Multistar ESC Power Breakout Cable PRODUCT ID: 258000034.

 Skeet 60 points
I prefer using a 4 x 3.5mm or 6 x 3.5mm breakout cables as they give me extra easy connection spots for adding lights and digital volt display meter, etc., etc. And yes, this will work on a tricopter. Happy flying

Hi! I am ordering all pieces for building a quadcopter. This Power Distributor is out of stock. Is there any similar I can use? I will order the KK Flight Control Board just in case that makes any difference in terms of compatibility. thanks!
 Roger 2701 points
The distribution board for octocopter is available. Also the one without bullet connectors will save you some weight if using ESC with bare wires, you only solder it to the pcb.
 anikeev 643 points
You can try this SKU: 9171000180. It's PCB board for up to 8 motors. You can solder ESC directly to it and save weight (not using connectors). It's fully compatible with KK by size and mount holes. You can also try adaptor like this SKU: 258000006. It will be good with big and heavy quad that requires more than 20A per motor. Hope that helps.
 weezbad 216 points
anikeev is on the money with the pc board. it frees up some weight an eliminates 8 connectors gives you a spot to tap voltage for voltage monitor
 Triple Ace 25 points
You can also purchase a wiring harness. Product 258000032 or 258000040.

If LED's are attached to the onboard JST connector...wont the power direct form the battery burn out the LED's?
 TERRA Operative 94 points
Yep. You will need a driver circuit or current limiting resistors between the power distribution board and the LED's. There are a stack of online calculators for resistor values for LED's.

 eddfoo 471 points
Most of the Led strips sold in Hobbyking run directly from 12V unless otherwise stated. You can use these directly from the JST connector.
Vinicius  57 points - 4/8/2013

What's the distance between the holes?
 TERRA Operative 94 points
44mm across an edge, 62mm diagonally across the board.
 XRAYAIR 218 points
Hole centers are 45mm apart.
Syafiq  1 points - 4/7/2013

what type of connection is the xt60 power input? is it a male or female?
 TERRA Operative 94 points
It has male pins in a female housing, so it connects directly to batteries with the XT60 connector with no modifications.

Are there are other models with fewer ports and also with more ports and bears more than 5 Motors
 anikeev 643 points
You can try board SKU: 9171000180 - it's up to 8 motors. You can also use next solutions (not board): 258000039 for 6 motors, 258000034 for 3 motor or use adaptor like this 258000006. Hope that helps.

Can I use that JST output to power an external UBEC?
 rahulvyas 374 points
Yes, you can. Its made for that only and for LEDs.
rahulvyas  374 points - 4/4/2013

Is it possible to convert this into a hex board by adding more bullet connectors, if so, then HOW to do that? Thanks.
 anikeev 643 points
Better try this board: SKU 9171000180. It has 8 outputs 20A max, but you will need to solder all connectors and wires bought separately.
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 rahulvyas 374 points
how do I solder like that, any reference?
 anikeev 643 points
Solder positive wires to inner circle outputs, negative wires to outer circle - that wires will go to your ESCs. Solder battery wires proper polarity to outputs with greater holes. That's all.
 rahulvyas 374 points
Well thats helpful. Thanks anikeev. Enjoy your credits *)

Yes you can without any worries...
 RcFlyer102 131 points
I would recommend getting the distrbution wires they will fit on your copter better (plz credit award)

can i use it on my tricopter setup? 1 will be spare
 rahulvyas 374 points
hey, ofcourse, without any worries you can. :) Good luck with your tri.
jovo  6 points - 4/1/2013

is there any board on HK ( or somewhere else ) that can handle 30a esc and 30a motors ?
 Christ 208 points
Hello Jovo, the board is described as 20A (which means 4X20A=80A). If you want to have more than that, you should consider changing the incoming wire and connector! Also consider the battery you will need to feed it: 4X30A=120A! don't forget. Another solution is to use 2 boards, each one feeding 2 motors and maybe 1 battery feeding 1 board (2 motors) Enjoy flying
 TERRA Operative 94 points
Yeah, a Y adapter to hook two boards to one battery, or two batteries hooked up individually to two boards can be used to double the current capacity.
 anikeev 643 points
You can use this board: SKU 9171000180. It has 8 outputs 20A max, so you can use 4 outputs with 30A for sure. But... It's only PCB so you need solder wires and connectors.
 Ahmad 1 points
the board is described as 20A Used a very effective and practical with Alasped control 30 Amp
Joey  3 points - 3/22/2013

I see this product being used on the Y6 Scorpion, which is what I'm currently shopping for, but I am using max 16A motors. How in the hell are people using these for 6 motors?
 eddfoo 471 points
You shoud use this instead : SKU 9171000180
 anikeev 643 points
People use different board. Like one that eddfoo mentioned above.

Good product though quite heavy. Nice when you exchange your escs one in a while to other quads because you dont have to de-solder the leads from normal power distr boards. To be used with larger quads, not for mini/micro quads. I will mod mine with XT60 connectors instead of the 3.5mm bullits as I use these as a standard with escs. I like the optional LED-outlet.

Simple and convinient board fo power distribution on quad copters with 4 speed controllers.

Soldered connectors (3,5mm) are exposed do short circuit if you don´t protect them with some hot gun or epoxy glue.

Good board, simplifies the connection of ESCs, however for me, I preferred to desolder the connectors of 3.5 mm and weld Nylon T-Female Connectors. Can always extra welding points empty, for example a Bec.
