Hello,

- Can somebody till me, why the motor get overheat when i use a LIPO battery 3 Cell

Thanks
 chris 132 points
when you use a 2cell with 6100kv its 6100 X 7.4= 45140 rpm but with 3cell its 6100kv X 11.1v = 67710rpm - 10% for on 3 cell you need to go down pinion sizes as its higher voltage

100A and only 3s? I ordered this combo under suggestion of a friend....I hope it not disapoint. I was hoping to recycle the esc later for a 4S project sc truck
 necromaster 189 points
I think you might want to try this for 2-4S application: Turnigy TrackStar 120A Brushless Short Course Truck ESC Very good ESC in my opinion. Similar to SkyRC Toro.
 otogi002 1 points
That system failed for me.. started cogging even though it is sensored.

Can I put that combo to my RC Brontosaurus off road car 1:10 and powered with Ni-MH batery 7,2 V - 4200mAh or it is to big ? Thanks for help .
 necromaster 189 points
Is it 1:10 HSP Brontosaurus? If yes, it is possible but you have to use smallest pinion and biggest pinion for it.. But I dont really recommend it because it can easily become hot, especially if you play on grass surface. But for a short speed run, it is ok..

Thank you for your answer . Can you sugesysted me the best solution (combo pack , motor esc ) for my HSP BRONTOSAURUS ? I hane allready baterys Ni-MH 7,4 V , 1800 mAh and 4200 mAh . What ist for be best soluttion ? Thanks . And yes , I drive this Brontosaurus ofr goad , also on grass surface .
 necromaster 189 points
Previously a brushless version of HSP Bronto came with 12T motor and 70A Novatech ESC. It used same gear ratio. So on this HK site, you can try find 1:10 ESC with over 60A, paired with 12T of 540 or 550 sized motor. I'm not gonna say this is the best combo, but it should work for you.
 MARIJAN 1 points
Thank you . Can you please suggested me which ESC (catalogue nr.) and sensored motor (catalog nr.) should work for me ?Do I need also something else , for example new gears /catalog nr, ) or ..... ?
 necromaster 189 points
You can try searching for this motor (3650-12T) and this esc (60A-SL), or you can get this combo (9164000006). I think you can keep still use same gear ratio but if it get hot, juz reduce the pinion T by 1 or 2..

Has anyone run one of these combos in a Slash 4x4 or comparable vehicle? What would be a good Kv choice for such a vehicle? I run it mostly on the street with 3S or 2S offroad.
 necromaster 189 points
I have not, but my buddy did use 540 size motor on his 4x4 slash. He was using 3300kv . I used skyrc toro SCT on my SC10. It features 550 size motor-esc combo. Since its 550, I chose 4600kv with 120A ESC. Its a superb combo. Here you can search for the exactly same but cheaper ESC under the name of Turnigy Trackstar 120A. It is for SC. As for the motor, its up to your preferences.

I am currently running this setup in my slash 4x2 and it simply screams I am using 23/54 gearing and have been realy impressed. i bought this setp to replace my castle creations sidewinder with a 7700 kv motor and have found them to be very similar but saved a few dollar by going this route
 RS4MT 44 points
This is too much for a slash,go with around 4000kv/and highest amp esc you can
Bekkarim  15 points - 5/25/2012

Hi i ve just installed this setup on my Hpi E-firestorm. it run for 10s than it stop some time there is an electric spark near the capacitor. and finally now the fan is not turning anymore !! can some on help me please?
 Bekkarim 15 points
the fan is down. i pluged an other fan. my problem now is, that the motor don"t turn. i set the throttle range calibration. i start the esc i hear the thone , than when i put the throttle in me remote, both esc lights stops and the motor don't turn!!
 steve 3 points
I am having the same issue with 3s lipo and my fan keeps twitching but wont turn i ended up disconecting the sensor and now my slash runs god but fan is still not turning

Hi, I planed to fit this set into a HPI Sprint 1.
Would this be too strong?
 Bekkarim 15 points
Forget, Brad quality
 necromaster 189 points
I put this is my TT01, its very fast. Planning to put it in my Sprint 2 after this. Btw mine has very good quality.

I have a thunder tiger sparrowhawk xt that has a 550 19T motor i am now on my third motor so am looking at these combos wondering which one would be best
 Strussen 208 points
This motor and ESC setup will be great for your Thunder Tiger. Maybe it's a little overkill with a 5.5T motor. 5.5T will make your car run fast. Maybe 2 fast! I don't know. A 9T motor will be great in the begining. Anyways, it's your choice, but this motor has lots of power!
 Brendan 2 points
do you think the 5200 6.5T motor would be more appropriate
 Brendan 2 points
or even the 4000 8.5T what doya hink i Know nothing about these motors
 Strussen 208 points
I don't know what your driving skills is, but i would prefer a 6.5T in the begining. You can always upgrade your motor and ESC. If you buy 6.5T and think that you easly handle it you can always change it to a 5.5T. If you can, please give me 20c :) Hope my help was helpful.

if i got the 6100 5.5T can it be Toned down wit h the programming and tweaked up later
 Strussen 208 points
Thank you so much :) It sound good, good luck with it. Did you know that you can calc. how many RPM. your motor will take? Example a 2S LiPo 7,4V with the 6100KV motor will take 45140 RPM. 7.4V * 6100KV = 45140 RPM on the motor. Just some bouns info, if you did not already know it :)
 steve 3 points
replaced my castle creations sidewinder 2 with a 7700 kv motor and this one was greater than or at least equal to my castle. I'd compare this setup more to a mamba monster setup lots of power
 Superhuhn 1 points
Can i put this in a 1/10 truck
Brendan  2 points - 4/17/2012

dont mean to sound dumb but what does the number 6100kv mean what does this relate to
 st200ol 258 points
The Kv number relates to the RPM of the motor. Per volt supplied the motor will spin a 6100RPM. So for a 2 cell Lipo you will have a typical off-load RPM of approximately 7.4*6100 approx 45,000-46,000.

thanks for that what does turns 5.5T mean
 peter2 136 points
That is the number of turns on the coils inside. The more turns, the slower but stronger the motor will be. The less turns, the faster but weaker the motor becomes. It is just an other indication of the RPM.
 Damian 1 points
Dude Peter2, Your wrong its the other way around, More turns means it will be faster, Less turns means it's gonna be slower but more torque. If. Think?
 JP [FIN] 12 points
Damian,You are the one who is wrong here.Less turns means it's faster and more turns means more torque.Use google if you don't believe.Check out the crawler motors for example... :)
 Bekkarim 15 points
your are all almost good but in practice the turns is an other whay to right the KV(RPM/Volts) of the motor A 10.5 T 3200 KV A 8.5T 4000 KV A 5.5T mean 6100 Kv A 3.5T means 9100 kV So if you use a 5.5T motor your are on a 6100KV wiht a 2S battery your rpm is going to be: 2 X 3.7Volt (lipo)X 6100 = 45140 RPM in the motor

I've used a Ezrun 5.5T/60A sensorless combo, but this thing is really on different level. It is an excellent sensored combo with high quality finishing. I used it with 2S turnigy nanotech 5800mah 30c in my TT01 for bashing and drifting in factory setting. So far its very difficult to get to full throttle as I will lost control of my car. Too bad I only have a TT01. This thing should be on a TRF..

I run this combo in a short course truck 1 /10 scale with a 2s 30s turnigy softcase lipo 30 amp, redcat and slash . The redcat model with stock gearing is so overpowered that my all aluminium conversion if i punch to max throttle twists the dogbone cv shafts meaning my model cant be driven again that day .now in my 2wd slash ive run this and never broken anything with same batterys .power train related but i am running steel slipper clutch pads and pinion and spur gears 21/ 90 gear ratio on the slash ,at the local track ive smoked castle creation mamba equipped slashes ,you want big power for your buck i highly reccomend this combo esc/motor.
