I have a problem here..! i use it with a 3s LIPO in an airplane , if i push the motor with some fpv gear weight it is happening something strange for me , it is slowing down the motor .. if i hit full throttle its like i have it in middle.. i do have a programming card , what sould i make to prevent this power down safe mode again..???
   Reskovic - Hock (67%)
connect receiver to ESC, push the throttle stick up on transmitter, then connect the esc to battery, wait for first tones... THEN when is the first pause, pull the throttle stick all the way down, the esc will make a sound. that way it 'learns' the receiver output and your engine should work normal after that. it is necessary only when connecting esc and receiver for the first time, not later.
   gc9n23 (48%)
so i have to do it once and only am i right?
   Reskovic - Hock (67%)
true, only for the first time when you plug the ESC to some receiver, so that it 'learns' its maximum and minimum output (throttle)
   leeps (60%)
Remember also that this esc has a 2amp linear bec in it. Linear Bec's drop extra voltage as heat to lower pack voltage to the 5 volts. If you have extra servos running your fpv camera you might be overheating the esc and sending it into a reduced power self protect mode. I would suggest setting up the throttle end points as suggested above, and if that doesn't work using an external bec.
   gc9n23 (48%)
i have only 4 servos , and i notice that when i added extra weight to it.. For the first procedure does it matters if i have connected the motor?

Hi, I've read in the reviews that these are the same as the hobbywing ESC, does this mean that you can use a hobbywing programming card to program them?
   Thiruselvam (10%)
You can use the Turnigy BESC Programming card.

The hobbywing programming card works on the Turnigy speed controllers - so the Hobbywing programming card should work on the Turnigy ESCs

I understand that this ESC's come with no battery / motor connectors. do they have the small throttle connector on them? (The one that go into the receiver)
   magnusEl (82%)
Yes, that conector is on.
   Letatel (92%)
Yes, this connector is presence.
   Rohan (23%)
yes it does
   bill (30%)
You will find the motor side of the connectors with any of the Turnigy motors ready to solder on. The reciever plug is allready there to plug in and go.
   Peter (19%)
yes of course
   haroldvk (72%)
yes....
   Toro (34%)
Thanks guys!
   Charles (17%)
Yes. It comes with solder on connectors for the notor and battery and the 3 pin throttle connector to your RX.
   Fleischpflanzl (41%)
Yes tehre is one
   billwhit (40%)
Yes, that is included!
   Deano (70%)
Yes - the receiver plug is pre-installed. You only need to solder the ESC to the motor on one end and then solder on whatever type of battery connector you like to use and then you are good to go.
   Dan (29%)
Yes it has the throttle connector
   berrykooiman (-45%)
Yes, black ESC > Receiver plug attached
   pimpmycnc (8%)
Of course...how do you control your esc?
   JonesRC (45%)
Yes, Throttle wire with connector is installed and ready to use. JR type.
   Tatnorway (0%)
Yes it comes with receiver plug. You will need banana plugs for the motor, and deans/XT60 to the battery. I prefer XT60, and so does HobbyCity. Just look at the most batteries they sell!
   mlapaglia (0%)
It does come with several cables, and two banana connectors that plug into the charger and turn into alligator clips on the other side. It also comes with a few other cables to use.
   DukeZillo (64%)
yes, the throtle connector, like futaba is included
   Mr Ed (19%)
Every ESC I have ever bought has the connector on it for the receiver. The other connectors you have to put on yourself.
   Beldin_33 (25%)
Correct. You can pickup the gold connectors cheap enough here for the battery/ motor connectors. I buy the 10x ec3 plug pack as the gold connectors are the corrct size for the motor connectors.
   Gilberto (25%)
The ESC came with 7-9 cm silicone cables without connector for battery and motor . It provides 20cm three wires cable with servo plug to connect directly the receiver.
   Faveau (12%)
Yes :)
   hrafnkell (13%)
Yes they have the female JR servo connector.
   Tieto (57%)
Yes they have connection to receiver, it also contains a small bec to give your receiver and servos some power. Solder on your own battery/motor connectors to make it fit your equipment. I use 4mm gold connectors (bullet) to the motors and deans on battery. Hobbyking mostly use 3,5mm gold connectors onmotors, and XT60 on their batteries.
   DukeZillo (64%)
yes, the black throtle connector comes with this speed control.
   Thiruselvam (10%)
The three pin female connector that goes into the receiver is attached.

Battery connector* get the same type that comes with your battery and solder it on.

Most (or is it all?) of the Turnigy brushless outrunners comes together (unsoldered) with the male and female bullet connectors. You can use these to connect to the ESC.
   michoc (60%)
Yes it come with the receiver connector.
   DarkHeli (53%)
Of course they do.

After some time tweaking about with the esc I have realised that you don't need a on/off switch. Just plug in the battery and go. Ok so thats what I did and it beeped 3 times then twice then once(as per instructions) I then throttled up and black smoke came from the esc and the motor stopped working. I then left it and tried again some time later. It beeps 3 times to start with but it can't seem to turn the motor. has it burnt out already? Im using a 3s lipo 2200mah.
Thanks for the replys so far guys.
Christian
   rems (94%)
what the rate of your battery (number of C )? because the 30 amp esc turnigy don't go over 40 amp ( if your battery is a 2200mah 20 C, 2200X20 =44amp >40 amp and the mosfet burn because the intensity is so bigger)
   christian (25%)
Rems, Now I understand!! Yes its a 20c discharge max 40c. I am new to the electric game and really have only bought combos in the past. What esc would you reccommend for the batt I have?
thank you very much for the answer. i know now for the future. Cheers
   Peter (19%)
i dont use an on/off switch. but if you seen a smoke, i think the controller is dead.
   Charles (17%)
Black smoke means you fried something. What motor/prop are you using? send it back and get another one.
   Deano (70%)
Sounds like your ESC is smoked. I had the same thing with a different ESC and it was caused by a motor that had burnt out.
   pimpmycnc (8%)
Black smoke? You must be kidding, ship it to the service center or buy a new one.
   JonesRC (45%)
You have burned your ESC. It's always recommended on first testing to use amp meter (like WattsUP) to check that you don't take too many amps through your ESC. Seems that your motor has drawn too much and this will eventually cause burned ESC. Next time bigger ESC or smaller prop.
   christian (25%)
Guys thank you for the useful replys. I ordered a larger esc 80amp and a slightly smaller motor for the aircraft I have. I have the correct prop size for the battery set up. Now it seems the esc is working but the motor seems to have fried!!
Please help what am I doing wrong?
   daniel_L (54%)
well it sounds that you are going to need a new esc. I run my with 3s lipo and it workes fine. Normaly turnigy makes realy good esc. Ether you got a bad one or in some werd way you shorted the esc.
   mlapaglia (0%)
Sounds like the ESC is shot. Check for shorts in the wires, but smoke coming out of an ESC is trouble.
   Beldin_33 (25%)
The 3 beeps are to indicate its connected to a 3s lipo. I bought 3 of these and had no issues so far. Is it likely you have the polarity reversed? What was the expected ampage you were aiming for? I have one running in a parkzone BF109G running stock and it pulls 28 amps while static.
   seanpaul (17%)
Hi. I need to know 1.-what motor you are useing? what load (prop size) and have you throttled up to max. gradually or straight-away?
Paul
   Faveau (12%)
I think it has blown out, but this is strange. Is your motor provoke a short circuit between two mosfets ?
   christian (25%)
Hi All
Below is what I purchased and what I thought was a good combo:-
TR 28-26B 1350kv brushless outrunner
Master airscrew 7x4 prop
Turnigy 2200 mah 3s 20c lipo
TM cessna 172 skyline is the aircraft.
I have now changed the esc to an 80amp and still it the motor does not work. Its as if the motor is stalling. I have had the motor running but now it doesnt go at all
   hrafnkell (13%)
I'm pretty sure it burned out when the black smoke appeared. It could be just one of the capacitors and if so you should be able to replace the broken one and the ESC might work again.
   Thiruselvam (10%)
Was your motors maximum amperage below 30A? If it's 30A or higher, get a ESC with a higher rating.

If it's smoking, you have probably burnt out the FET.

If you are OK with soldering SMD components, maybe you can cut the heatshrink and change the FET(s). But I think getting another ESC will be cheaper.

This is a programmable ESC* which means you can store certain settings in the controller. to program it, you need to use your move your sticks when you hear the beeps (each beep count have a meaning - look at the manual).

To make your life easier, you can use the Turnigy Programming card* easily view all the stored setting and changing them if it's needed.
   DarkHeli (53%)
Any smoke means that the ESC is no longer usable. Even if it would turn over and run fine, I still would suggest throwing it out.

christian (25%)
Hi all. Anyone know how to work this item? All my previous esc's have come with an on/off switch attached. This one doesn't? Also when plugged into the motor it makes 3 beep sounds but thats it. Im using the recommended lipo battery 2200mah 3s. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Christian
   Lars (15%)
Here's the manual.

***********hobbywing****/upload/manual/ESC_e.pdf

When starting the ESC it will normally beep three times when powered on if it can not detect correct input from the throttle. So check the connection to your reciever.
   rems (94%)
I advice you to buy a programming card for turnigy esc but I think you can program her Like the hobby king super simple esc with the radio control switch. for tour switch, I advice you to put a switch betwin the negative pole of tour battery and the negative pole of your esc but to my mind, it isn't necessary.the 3 beep sound is because you have a 3S battery.
   Letatel (92%)
What you talking about??? But my ALL esc has not on/off switch. In you case(with this switch), the switch must stall too current and must have too large dimensions. Just you do'nt know what you talk. LOL...
   pimpmycnc (8%)
Have you already tried to reverse your throttle travel? What kind of transmitter do you use?
   JonesRC (45%)
Hi Christian,

No on/off switch is needed. As you say plug in and wait beeps and ready to go. To get all 3 2 1 beep you need to have receiver or other controller to ESC. ESC has safety mode that if there is no controller giving proper signal it won't work. Same thing if receiver has no connection to transmitter ESC won't work. Very good safety function. Settings of ESC can be adjusted with programming card which is good to have always on toolbox. JonesRC
   seanpaul (17%)
Have you put your throttel stick to zero? if not do that first. Switch on your Transmitter FIRST then the Reciever.Usually an esc has a safety circuit built in to unsure that the motor doen't go full blast should you have the throttel wide open. Then follow the instructions for `timingthe esc. This is the ``throttel Range setting. Programming instructions can be downloaded from HK. Paul

Does the ESC comes with connectors for the motor ?
   r_g_r (90%)
Hey,
the ESC does not come with any connectors (at least my friend's came with none), neither for the battery nor for the ESC.
But some motors come with bullet connectors for the ESC.
Greets!

   Alisson Augusto (67%)
No...they don't comes with conectors for the motor but the conector comes with the motor (turnigy ones at last) and you can use screws or even weld the conector with the cable... the conector is a little golden(just colour) piece, and you should isolate then after weld it
   brainstorm (24%)
No it doesn't, you usually get bullet connectors with motors, but not all. You can solder them together as well, loose some grams that way!
   munsaf (8%)
No not any connector for motor.
   kostas (17%)
No you have to fix it.
   berrykooiman (-45%)

No, it does not. It comes pre-wired but you have to get the connectors yourself, or solder it directly (recommended)
   rems (94%)
no it isn't :-(
   Letatel (92%)
No, this ESC comes without connectors (motor & power). Connectors must buy separately. (((

   Tatnorway (0%)
No, it does'nt. Buy bananaplugs for it! 3,5 mm works perfectly :)
   Brad (25%)
No, you will need to buy those separately. There are many different types of connectors so most ESC's come without motor connectors and let you decide the type you would like.
   mlapaglia (0%)
No it does not, but some of the time the motor will come with ESC connectors.
   Gilberto (25%)

Does this esc have programable start up and timing? I am using this on a HK TR 35-30A 1700kv Brushless Outrunner motor (Eq AXi 2808) and it will kick out and make a screehing noise and stop working. Approx 35amps max.

Thanks,
   kctrading (42%)
Update: Had to change the timing as well as low and med would not run the motor properly...had to go with high timing with the 14 pole motor...also not to happy with the prop brake engaged as it has a hard time holding the 8x6E prop on my Wing...wish there was more adjustment on this!

Today I have my conculosion that the causing of ESC burned and the wires steam hot, is may be I was using 13T pinion. The motor took much load to turn the Main blades the rotor blades and that lead to overload the ESC. The motor is turnigy 4000 kv and will downgrade to use 10T or 11T pinion.

The Motor ESky I use is 3800kv and different with motor on my Hk-450 (4000kv). Today took My ESky ESC 25A and test it on HK-450. I found that My ESky ESC also auto-cut off but not like TR_P30A. No soldering joint loosen and not hot as TR_P30A. May be this 4000kv motor need ESC 40A above. The first video upload seem cannot be displayed.. I don't understand.

Today I cannot have another test. The ESC is dead but it still supply 5v to receiver. There is no sign of burnt on the ESC. I tried using the prog card to investigate but nothing happen and no light displayed on the prog card. I have been using ESky 25A ESC and using same battery and it is still in good condition. The wires are thinner than TR_P30A and not hot after flying. Should TR_P30A better than ESky 25A ESC?

This is the only Item I need to send my order. All other items were in stock, and when I placed my order in February I must have missed this item being in stock. So now I have a large order with this one item left. The last I heard it would be sometime this month. Just about to the point of cancelling my order if I can, or at least cancel the ESC so I can get my other supplies. Does anyone know when this item might be in stock?
   onercboater (72%)
I have found that it is very easy to either cancel the backordered portion of an order and receive store credit or sustitute an item of equal or lesser value and weight. I just had this occur this last week as apparently there was a factory mix up and the motor that was marked reserved for me became no longer available. Rather than wait for what can turn into weeks, I opted to ask for a closely matched motor of sleightly lower $$$ the only issue that came up was that there was a small difference in weight, so I had to remove a 8x4 prop to make it under the weight that I had paid for. Since I always fill my orders to the last gram with inexpensive extras that I may need in the future or would be handy to have this worked out well for me. Hope this will help you out on future orders or this one for that matter.
