Hi I have been flying a sbach 342 epo sport flying. Would it be ok to run a 5s 3600ma battery with this model or has any body try it the esc is a 70amp and the motor is a 4250 also is the esc auto cell setter
Hello,
it is possible to fly this model even with 3S battery? I've got a lot at home (only 3S). Or you do not know who sells this model for smaller 3S battery?
THX Ondra
Hi Losicek. I have 2 of these birds. You will not have enough power with a 3S, or maybe just enough to fly it as a gentle parkflyer only...But that's not what you want from this plane *)
If they have no flight experience, I recommend you to buy model a trainer. Until they fly well. Hobby King, there are models with remote control and battery, so ready to fly => RTF
Hi, just watch out for esc and servos. On second battery the esc ****ped out. Elevator servo quit, replaced esc with turnigy trust 70 amp. Hobbykings hk15288a servos and everything is great.Flies so nice and easy compaired to mx2.
hi guys, i have just built this plane and put it on a cg stand and it is very nose heavy,i have had to place the battery over the spot where the wing bolts screw in to get it to balance. the book states cg is 120mm from leading edge of wing at the root. any opinions on this ? thanks guys
Is there enough space to build in a motor with the following dimensions :
Overall lenght 62 mm ( 2.40 inch )
Diameter 50 mm ( 2.00 inch )
Please reply
JG
Ivanito! It depends on your motor's Power(W)and the battery voltage(V).
Amps = power / voltage.
For example a 500W motor on 14,8V (4S battery) uses 500/14,8=33,78 max. Amps current. What means at least 40Amp esc.
Hi guys i am thinkin about buying the sbach and i was wondering if you could giv me a list of improvements and replacements that i need to do to make this model fly better and last longer. Thsnks :)
Hi, friend, I'm from Brazil. I bought the Sbach 342 above. There has to improve this airplane, flying more than 3 years and this model flies perfectly well. It is a 3D aerobatic model, however docile and easy to land. You can buy without fear. I recommend.
thks,
Dan
Problems with stock motor or ESC..? First flight was nice noe problem, motor ok. Second flight, when full throttle motor make strange noice and slow down. When I gave slowly full throttle motor some times work fine. Is it the motor or the ESC who make trouble? Timing on the ESC? May I have to replace both motor and the ESC?
And all cables to the motor is connected well.
Take a look at the NTM 42-48 650KV,this would be a good replacement,on a 4s pack and a 13x6 prop it will draw 52amps and give 760 watts of power which will fly this model really well,it could even be propped up a little bit more to give even more power.
Hi,
Need to know if one can use a 4S / 4.5Amp battery with this motor... & also how will the weight of the bigger battery effect the CG / wing loading etc.
Thanks
Yes, you can use that heavier battery, this motor has plenty of power to bring it up to the air. You'll need to move the batt backward to get the proper CG.
Greetings!
yes, thanks for your reply... another clarification, if the battery is more heavy, will that result in increasing the wing loading... yes or no, and if yes, then it will effect the 3D capabilities too, any solution to this?
The plane comes with instructios for the esc and you can activate the brake with the radio

1 thumbs up!
Be careful this product is not yet debugged and has some real deficiencies. Also you cannot get replacement parts. Specifically the prop adapter is stupidly designed and will break very easily and you cannot get replacement parts so you have to upgrade the whole motor. There are also other quality and design issues. Wait until they iron out the problems before you spend the money.
Great sport plane, servos and geometry is not 3d capable but with around 20mins work and some nice 15mm balraced standoffs from HK ($3) the throws were doubled. See review and pics on RCgroups thread.

I wanted a black color. But the orange color has been sent.
No errors in this type of compensation. HK a little more attention, please!

HK's answer to the prop adapter problem was for me to buy a whole new motor. This prop adapter is designed so that there is only 1/16 inch of very soft aluminum holding the prop on to the motor. It will initially support flight loads but over time will work harden and fracture. You best hope that you or none of your friends is in the way when the prop comes flying off. I'm sure that the airplane flies well but this problem is sever enough that you should not buy this product until it is solved.
