The PT-19 was purchased as a low wing trainer for the USAF after it had been recognised that bi-planes such as the PT-17 Stearman were too "easy" and a more challenging Preliminary Trainer was required that was more in line with modern mono-wing aircraft of the era in terms of wing loading.
This superb large scale PT-19 is a nicely built and covered large scale ARF that is designed specifically for a 30cc Gas engine, although it could be just as easily be powered with electric power, especially as it has a very large removable canopy, which is ideal for easy battery changes. It is supplied with a comprehensive and good quality hardware kit and is a very straightforward and relatively in-expensive "build".
On the ground or in the air, this PT-19 has a huge presence, the bright colour scheme is ideal for orientation and with the right power system, scale aerobatics will be the order of the day! Split flaps coupled with the light wing loading make the PT-19 a breeze to land and no retracts of course keep things simple and makes for a very practical "every day" model that can be flown in a little wind and can handle almost any strip. As the saying goes, the bigger they are....the better they fly....this superb PT-19 is a perfect introduction to the world of large scale models and at this price, it's also an affordable introduction to large scale!
