This is one big foam Warbird! Being Plug N Fly it is a fast build model packed with enough features and scale detail to make this one bird you will be proud to own.
Made from EPO foam, this model is practical despite its size, a one peice removable wing makes for easy transport, even the tail can be un-screwed if desired. The pre-fitted servos and electric retracts are all pre-labelled making field assembly fast and simple. It uses the kind of 4s packs that are becoming very common now on large foamies, chances are, you already have a few in your flightbox. The Pre-Fitted motor has plenty of power for those scale Warbird aerobatics or just straffing your flying field!
Scale detail is just superb, as are the pre-applied decals, features include pre-installed electric retracts/tailwheel, there is the very scale 4 bladed prop & spinner, navigation lights, adjustable radiator outlet, drop tanks, moulded exhaust stubs and guns. The flaps keep the landing speed right down, this model has no nasty Warbird tip stall tendencies, it just floats in like a trainer. yes you can remove the whole spinner and also the first part with the square decoration, it is just holding with magnets. may need to remove some bit of glue or sticking, but originally is is supposed to hold just with magnets.
Then you can access the bolts to the motor mount (need a long screwdriver)and remove easily the complete motor and motor holder.

aggree with you. this can make just normal flying, no acrobatics or need to dive to get speed.
Also be careful with the landing gear. Better unmount then (wings) and add a rislan thightener around the casing or it will broke open very soon in the middle.

I replaced mine with NTM 4258 500kv.
very good move compred to the original one.
However the problem is the original spinner and prop (they assemble together) as the mounting is different and you need ot use a standard prop .
The original prop is beautifull but not efficient, using a lot of power due to drag. It also vibrate a lot even after balancing as some blades are not really aligned.
I changed to a 15x12 and it is a lot more efficient and use less energy.

Hello, I'm presently assembling this plane and I'm afraid. Who did really measure the prop size and pitch. From calculation this plane can not even take off. the speed will be something like 45km/H or 27mile/H. Or some parameters are wrong: KV of the motor or real pitch of the propeller. Please help
I had the earlier version of this plane and found it to be very underpowered with the 14" 4 bladed prop that came with it. I had several flights with all ending in a crash due to low power and stall. I was very unhappy with it and finally gave up on any further rebuilds. It now resides in the trash can.
Hello Sukhoi6, this is not really reassuring me! OK, but this was not the requested information. I need this to change the motor or the propeler which is vibrating and is out of alignment (more than 1mm on 1 blade). So if I don't know what is wrong (pitch or KV) I can not select another propeller. Have great flights
Get a bigger motor, more kv and the prop will work.. that's what did. typical HK warbird horribly under powered but I liked the size. I upgraded the motor almost half again the power and I think I could have doubled it and been OK. I also upgraded the servos in the build because I don't care for the ones they use.
This could be a great idea, but... you will burn your batteries. This will ask about 65A from it and it means more than 30C! If you have great batteries, then it is OK. Also beware the balance of the propeller as it will run faster. Good luck
The seccond problem will be the duration of your flight: verrrrry short, like 3 to 4 minutes only The better way if you want to go for 5S is to use 5S 5A or so. then you enter the weight poblem, but there is plenty of space to hold it.
How easy/difficult is it to remove the wing of this plane for transport? It looks like it is a very tight fit. Also, does removing the wing require the servo connectors to be disconnected? I have a crossover sport utility vehicle and it seems unlikely that I could get this to fit.
I purchased this P51 when it was called the Monster Mustang. The wings were somewhat difficult to remove for transport and you do have to disconnect the servo leads for the flaps, ailerons, and gear. Good scale flight characteristics, but I found it difficult to land well and the gear are very tender.
True about the gears.. it's only about $65 for after market servoless gears that are tough as nails. I've got a set for sale, used but in great condition only $45. if you want to get rid of the factory setup. Email me at 1godscowboy*gmail****
I just received this plane and have read build blogs on RCGroups. They mention problems with the ESC. Description says 80A ESC w/BEC. The one I received is a Topflight TP-E03-0070 70A. Is this the one that catches fire? if so, I'm REALLY going to be P.O.ed.
Your good. I have the exact same one and have had ZERO issues. Is a great plane and will have alot of fun with it till you decide like I did to go Gas, Bals, and Scale..
Yes they offer them, have bought some Myself. They come in a package of 4 as each one is removable by itself, its handy if you just break one so ya always have backups.. Hope that helps..
I finally bought mine today. I had an Airfield P-51 version 1. It was a nice plane, but it did not have the servoless retracts. I am hoping the quality of the foam is as good or if not better than the Airfield models on N i t r o P l a n e s.

Hi, Just bought my P-51 Gunfighter 1600, and been reading about the retract system comes with it and will like to order a spare set and can not find the exact one to replace it if it gets broken or a stronger set that fits, Can anyone help me on this matter...

Beautiful plane with extensive scale detail. It flies great and draws a crowd as it's big and makes a real presence in the sky. Very stable and easy flying.
Assembly took about two hours and was easy but the manual is next to useless. Not too hard to figure out. Servo leads were all labled making it simple enough when attaching the wing.
Now for the not so good. The description says it comes with an 80A ESC and the manual says 85A. mine came with a 70A which got REALLY hot when flying recommended setup - 3200mAh 4S. The other big issue is the retracts. They belong on a much smaller plane. They are smaller and weaker than the ones HK sells for planes less than 2.5kg planes. I will guarantee they will fail even if you grease your landings. I have ordered a set of 514's from HK to put on the plane but wish it had come with sturdier gear.
The good part is the plane is amazingly durable (silver paint rubs off, but foam is great). the only damage when the gear collapsed was loosing a drop tank. I took the drop tanks off. I think the plane looks and flies better without them.
It's a keeper!

i realy love this bird, i have the dago red version. the only two problems for me where the retracts of course. do not fly this plane with the stock retracts!!! you will absolutely damage your plane. i swapped the out for larger ones. i also felt like the mustang was underpowered, so i swapped out the esc for a 100amp from hobbcity, i now run it on 5cell 4400 packs and it flies awesome
