TURNIGY 1:4 Scale Brushless GoKart (KIT)

TURNIGY 1:4 Scale Brushless GoKart (KIT)
TURNIGY 1:4 Scale Brushless GoKart (KIT)

The TURNIGY 1:4 scale gokart is a real blast to drive, with it's low center of gravity and ultra sticky TruRubber* tyres which keep the kart turning sharply. A powerful full size servo is included with kart to keep the steering precise and quick, while the non differential rear tyres lay rubber on each corner!

The entire floor pan is made of 4mm Carbon fiber sheet with very little suspension travel at the rear giving the gokart very realistic handling.

You will need a 35A ESC, an inrunner motor around 3900Kv, a tansmitter and receiver and 2S LiPo battery.

Stickers are included, but the driver is unpainted so you can create your own race livery on the driver.

Or just check the picture above (3rd from left) and you will see what I'm talking about. Or look up Kart Motor Mount. I can't seem to upload the picture I took. :(

Gary you here? I took the motor mount off the kart and noticed that the motor (when mounted) was not mounting sqaurely. I took the motor off again and notoced that there was a "step" in the bottom part of the face plate. This is causing the motor to mount in a slight downward angle by a few degrees. This is not good! The spur to pinion meshing will be strained and cause binding and premature wear on both the spur and pinion gears. Please have the team correct this asap. target=_blank>
cjmollica  26 points - 2/25/2013

just a tip: I made with EVA and kart tires changed 1000%, does not rotate more frequently and walk with 3S was easy. obs: i made front and rear with 63 mm (pulls very) hugs

Anybody try foam inserts yet? If so, what would fit?

la vernice acrilica non va affatto bene ci vuole solo ed esclusivamente la verni per rc cioe non acrilica. che con gli urti non si sgretola o spacca saluti spero di essere stato di aiuto

What type of paint do you use for the driver figure?
 Gary 2995 points
Acrylic or enamel model paints are best.
 martiman 174 points
Didn't the paint feel sticky while/after drying? Also, acrylic and enamel "harden" when dry, seeing as the Stig is made of a pliable material, isn't there a tendency for paint cracking?
 Gary 2995 points
The acrylic should be fine on that type of material, will not end up feeling sticky and should be pliable enough.

Great! Will try it! Thanks Gary! While you're here answering querries . . .any chance of upgrading the rims to proper go kart (dish) rims?
 Gary 2995 points
Don't have any control over things like that but will ask the question for you.
 martiman 174 points
Wow finally! Somebody who actually knows RC stuff and takes the time to answer our questions! I will ask your boss to give you a raise Gary! hahaha!
 Gary 2995 points
Thanks for that, yes, please put in the request for a raise!!!!,could buy more HK products then!!!

is the motor included?
 Bobby 11 points
No the motor is not included. The recommended motor size for this cart is a 3900kv motor. Hope this helps
Nicola  1 points - 1/2/2013

what pinion for this go-kart? 32, 48 or 64 pitch?
 Bobby 11 points
It depends on the pitch of spurr gear. Most likely it will be a 64 pitch. But you can put what ever pitch you want as long as that size spurr will fit the cart.
 Ninjatech 3651 points
No, my friend. The pinion must be Mod 1.
 Ninjatech 3651 points
...if you are going to use the stock spur.

I would put in gokart brushless mamba monster 2650Kv. Anyone tried this?
 Luis 1 points
Yes its hell of a fast car i took it of from my revo and it was doing like 150 mph!!!! Jk like 80 around there but i have spare traxxas motors and i used those and its still pretty fast its the vxl system and i put a heavy torque servo on it for the wheels dont move that much when you reach high speeds hope this helped
 martiman 174 points
I don't think a mamba monster would be practical for the kart. Watch the HK video and you will see that when he punches the 380 motor, it just spins around. He was on half throttle 90% of the time. I was also thinking of the VXL 380 motor. Cauld you even make a decent run or is it just going crazy all the time?
Pasan  109 points - 9/25/2012

How good are the stock tires? Would foams be better? I want to buy one primarily for scale performance, so I'm expecting it to handle literally like a go kart :)
 Ninjatech 3651 points
The stock tires are really good , like true rubber ! I don't think though that you could achieve better grip with foams .
 Bobby 11 points
I would have to say it depends what kind of surface you are running on. Personally I run foams on mine because I run on a pavement track. If you run on carpet then the stock rubber tires should handle good. it seems on a outdoor track where the temps get high it just melts the rubber and makes them slick unlike foam which will hook up. Hope this was helpful.

Are decals available for this cart?,,i have had a good look through spares but could not find decals?,,the new parts are blank so decals are required??.
 Ninjatech 3651 points
No my friend , no stickers available for this Go-Kart . But , you can create your own race design by painting or different stickers ...
 martiman 174 points
Mine came with decals . . . though I plan on painting it or having another decal scheme printed for it.

what is the best motor for it: -KDA28/47 9turn S (4300KV)(45A) -XK28/45-B (3700kv)(50A) - other motor .... and i want to run in 3S whit a 60A esc
 Ninjatech 3651 points
Between the two i would prefer the KDA 28-47 9Turn S , but consider as another option the KB28-47-08S(4900KV , 50A) which is cheaper also ...

Hi guys... İ* owner THUNDER POWER Z3R-M 7,5T 540 size motor and i want use this car. Can i use on this car?
 Ninjatech 3651 points
I think it is too big to fit at the motor base ... The 28mm diameter inrunners are the only suitable for this vehicle .

Thanks buddy :) Do you know Sensored 380 size motor. İ* want so much use 540 this car :D
 Ninjatech 3651 points
I'm here to help mate ... : ) It would be very cool if the 540 could fit , but .... Hobby King suggest the S2848 brushless inrunner , however take a look at the search tab on the left (Brushless Motors > Car Motors) just to know about the specs and costs .
 Ninjatech 3651 points
Hi mate , I made your idea come true , check the attached photo on the "files" tab . : )

how good is this platform.
 Bobby 11 points
I have this cart and I say it is one of the best out there. It is a blast to drive and turnigy really nailed it with this one. I prefer foams on mine and it handles like a dream

on mine, the servo is not attached to the plastic shaft that is attached to the front steering. how did you insert the round plastic end of the shaft into the metal screw that is attached to the servo?
 Tyler 2 points
you should be able to pop it over the metal ball/ screw if thats what your talking about just be careful not to go crazy and break it because i broke one while servicing my kart
spitfire2010  640 points - 12/21/2011

can someone tell me what motor is a direct replacement drop in.
 Daniel 5 points
You can use a vernier calliper to measure the outside of the motor, then just have a look around and see what fits :)
 DOCA-SP 2834 points
Any INRUNNER 28XX can be used in this kart. I recomend 3700~4000kv to be used with the 13T pionion
 superior1 10 points
can i use a 540size motor, eg. hobbywing 3650 9t, 4300kv ???
 martiman 174 points
You can but you need to fabricate a new motor mount plate for it as the stock motor mount limits your motor choice to 380 size.

i have a hobbyking s2848 4370kv inrunner and a 60A car ESC and a lot of 3s 2200 mah batteries. If i install it all in this kit, will i be able to run it? Also i dont get it about the servo, it says kit but doesnt list a servo in the requirements. Anyways i would be gratefull if someone suggests a good servo for this kart, from hobbyking stock would be awesome
 Stegy 7 points
A powerful full size servo is included with kart
Dinukap4  253 points - 7/12/2011

YeeeeY a Land RC KIT for the First time!! But why not the SC RC trucks ? We need them more than this Go kart!!
 Mav75 75 points
I'd rather cars, but anyway, why buy this one when the full model already has a motor, and is only $10.04 more? You need to buy a $21.02 motor for this one, so all up it costs you $10.98 more to buy this kit.

As much as I like the promise of assembling a kit, it's economically insane to buy this.
 HobbyKing_Admin 8862 points
Unless you have the servo and motor in your parts bin at home.
We got a special deal on the servo's and motors before thats why the price looks wrong.
 red25 117 points
yup! more car kits like buggies or short course truck
samguan  37 points - 7/12/2011

roller or kit?
 grimmjow 1690 points
It's a kit, you must add the motor, ESC, servo and lipo.
 grimmjow 1690 points
... and the radio as well.
 kryne 6 points
it looks like it may be a roller, but it says kit in the name so could also be a kit. Roller and Kit are not the same as rtr. Kit means you need to build it, Roller means it comes built but needs all the electrics. hope that helps
 gamesbox 8 points

I made some mods on this Go-Kart ...
and indeed i have troubles ...
i can't go straight forward any more
because i put a 3650 motor with
10500 KV !!!
The thing is like a rocket , when moving backwards . ( I will post some evidence ...)
One more thing to mention is that the steering servo saver
is a total failure as it broke without even an impact ...

Ok, first just place your order for one and get all the stuff they offer for it like the bec and lipoly get a radio from em too, these karts are going to blow you away, I just got mine running and a small test drive with the stock motor and it jams,,, I got the upgraded motor but wont be using untill I get this thing under control, I have a gyro to use if needed, but if you looking for something to make your neighbors wake up get one. way cool
