So, since I couldn't find the info anywhere, can someone explain exactly how the data logging feature works? Do you have to disconnect the servo lead from the Rx and plug it in the box while the battery is still connected to the ESC, or can you disconnect the battery, transfer the servo lead and reconnect? Will it remember the info?
So, I built a small-car with motorcycle engine, but I want to change it to electic, so I've got Brushless motor Turnigy C80100-130, 160A ESC Drux, and I read the datesheet "Turnigy drux Programming box" and thought I could the motor speed, because I have not found one that spoke what I need, so i got it too. of the engine, I just want to put the engine and control the speed of it, with the "Programing box" is only possible?
You cannot control the ESC with the programming box, i.e. you cannot control the throttle with the programming box. You would need to connect the ESC to a radio receiver and use the radio to control the throttle, or you could connect it to a servo tester, and use the dial to control the ESC. The programming box is only used for the data logging feature and to program and adjust the different parameters of the ESC.
Ok, so,what more need to complet the assemblage, Brushles motor, ESC, programing box, bateries... I wich to use in my small car, like a kart, the thotle pedal must be necessary, but after I will fix.
Works great this programming box makes programming esc's so much easier than listening to beeps , exellent product by Turnigy , a winner. On top of that it's even back light .
Hi, have just received one of these boxes. Using in conjunction with a dlux 30A SBEC with data logging.
I plug the LiPo into the ESC, then connect the JR lead to the programmer, and all i get is the opening screen:
Hextronik Program Box V$.1
None of the buttons produce any other screens. Any ideas welcome....
thanks
This can happen two ways that I know of, even if the equipment is working correctly. First, there are two places your JR lead will plug in to the box. The one furthest aft (on your left as you view the side of the box) is the one you use for the JR lead. (The other receptacle is for use with an external 4.8/6.0v battery.) Secondly, the JR lead must be plugged in with the signal pin (orange wire) furthest aft. If you look closely at the symbols above the two receptacles, you'll see a square wave symbol above the intended signal pin location.
EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!!
Inspired by BananaBender, I did the following to achieve success with initiating the menu of the V4.1
1/ connect the batt to the ESC
2/ connected the JR plud to the rear of the 2 sockets, signal (orange) to the rear
....this powers the box, showing the version
3/ pressed the "left" and "down" together
....this enters the menu
Yee**Ha!!!!!!!!
Now why don't they tell you that????
I'd pay 5 bucks for it (total) to programme. I've already set my esc by the TX and beep codes. I bought it for the data log read. No such thing...V0242
I can use the 4 buttons to navigate to the parameter I want but there is no button to SET the parameter. How do I tell the programming box to set the parameter I have navigated to?
I have other ESC programming cards with both navigation buttons and a selection button. It is shameful that this box had NO INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO USE IT.
Bottom line - if you can read the desired parameter, it IS set. For instance, the ESC comes programmed with the brake off. If you want to change this to turn braking on, from the screen that shows "Brake off", you simply hit the right arrow key. This changes the display from "Brake off ->" to "<- Brake on". You're done... unplug the ESC from the box and go flying!
Bought a 1.0 box, which worked just fine with my HV controllers. Bought a 2.42 box, couldn't get it to work. Bought another one, also couldn't get it to work. I just figured out that the startup procedure on the new box is different from the old one - you have to apply power to the ESC *before* connecting it to the box. So - plug a battery into the ESC, then plug the ESC into the box. Touch the button labeled "Right" and off you go.
If you're using an HV ESC the same thing applies - plug a battery into the ESC, plug the ESC into the box, then plug in a ~5-6V rx pack to power the box.
FYI the keys are mislabled - the correct sequence is Left, Up, Down, Right. I relabled mine with some black marker and white-out. I added a pic of the trio to the Files section.
The 2.42 box seems to be compatible with the older (non-datalogging) Dlux controllers. I've tried it with an 80HV, 120HV, 160HV as well as a new 40 with logging. The 1.0 box does not recognize the new controllers at all!
can please some body help me. I have this prog box V1.0, connecting a dlux 70A SBEC 2-6S to it and connect a 3S Lipo to the box. The display starts, withe dlux box V1.0 but i'm not getting to programming, by pushing any of the buttons????? thanks for help and best regards
Have you tried conecting 5/6 volt battery(reciever battery)to bottom port and just esc to upper? without conecting lipo. do esc first then battery, then push button works for me.
mines the same kaktus , have you taken the power wire out from the esc plug ? im thinking that may be why as i run a bec and disconect that wire , mine powers up from 6v life pack says hextronic prog.box v0242 and does no more
i dont know who is removing the links but hey wat the
but anyway dude i got it working , plug in esc first motor wires unplugged to ok < once esc is plugged in hold down 1st 3 buttons on left as you power it or even all 4 buttons and mines into programing mode and can see all data even has brake little weird but seems to be a goer
hey you are lucky, I tried your procedure as well. Motor wires unpluggded, connect ESC, hold 3 and 4 buttons connect power > doesn' work. My display allways shows "dlux programming box V1.o".
I'm not getting fiurther by pressing any of the buttons??????? It doesn't say "prog.box v0242" I as well have tried the youtube procedure without succes
mean while I got a new one > that works. Any how a strange box, it dont has the parameters as shown on the packing, as well the sequenze is different and even has the parameter brake on/off!! On top the buttons are wrong labeled, right is down and down is right, which is very confusing at the begiining?!?!
Two Question!
1) How can i Reset the logged data from the delux 30Amp ESC?
Ive reset to the default settings but that just seem to reset the ESC Parameters
2) how do I determent the Number motor poles My motor Has?
In this case my motor is an NTM 28-26 1200kv?
Thank you!
In order to help some other users, here is what happenned to me. When i connect the ESC and the battery, I only see the startup screen "hextronic V4...) But no buttons were working.
The same problem with a DLUX 80A and a DLUX 100A. The solution is : push both the LEFT and UP buttons and connect the battery in the same time. Then you can access to the menu. Just Magic *)
The same problem to me, I have a DLUX 100A, your solution works, after a view trys, thank you! But where can I see the logged Data, I am only able to see the settings, but I do not find the logged data?? Firmware ist 4.1
I have this unit with firmware 4.1 I purchased 3 dlux esc 20a 40a and 55a. I connect the esc to the programming box, then connect battery. with the 40a and 55a I get the startup screen, however no buttons work, with the 20a I do not even get a screen. Am I doing something wrong or is there something I can try to get it to work.
I tried as you said no change. Why would a smaller battery make any diffence the programmer is powered through the BEC on the ESC I am programming. I have tested and I am receiving a steady 5.5 volts to center pin on all 3 ESC/BEC.
I have connected a second power source no power to ESC seems to be working now. The ESC plugs into the top servo plug with the ground to the lower plug. Ssperate 5.5 volt power is plugged into the 2nd plug on programmer with same plug orientation. The ESC is not plugged into a battery.
I did this too, this solution works best! Battery on the outer Servo plug, ESC right plug. No other power supply is needed. The Problem I still cant see any data logging funktion. Anyone an idea?
I am considering getting one of these and some DLUX ESC's* however, I was wondering what data is logged and displayed? The HK Daily video said to look up the product info page for the list of features, but I don't see a list of what gets logged. Does it log vibrations?
no vibrations :( that would be cool maybe thats something a FBL unit could do , anyways heres the list if your unable to see it
Data logging display parameters:
Max Temperature
Environment Temperature
Max Current
Min Current
Max Voltage
Min Voltage
Nominal Voltage
Off Voltage
Motor Run Time
Power on Time
Motor Pole Number
Max Motor RPM
Error Times
it seems to be dependent on the esc's firmware , for example i have two 40 amp esc' both bought under the title (data logging) however one has governor no logging the other has logging no gov. os my question is , is there a firmware that has both?
Inside the plastic case, there's an AtMega8A under the LCD board and the ISP 6 pads are accessible. Maybe it's possible to dump the firmware v4 to upgrade the v2 PBox?
Ok, appears my question has been dropped?? I have version 4.1 box. I want to select "Governor Mode". It does not appear on screen as indicated in manual card. However I can select Heli mode (which is not on manual card!) Does this select govenor mode?
The same happened to me. It seems that the heli mode affects the soft start mode and governor mode. But the governor mode causes the motor to increase the speed too fast with soft stick movements, making the it useless.
Just received (oct 2012) this box to control the 40A dlux ESC which is supposed to also support Data Logging, but no luck. No menu of measure or other similar reference.
The programmer upon boot has the following references:
Hextronik
Prog. Box V0242
next screen
AIRplane-SBEC
Ver: A260202
Any hints?
I've already asked CS but no replies...... yet.
Mine works so with the 55A D/Lux ESC: -
Press 'Down' button twice and 'Measure or Set' shows on the top line. Now press the 'Left' button and 'Measure' is now at the bottom line.
Then press the 'Down' button to see the logged information - mine shows thirteen values.
None of this will show if you do not have a Data Logging enabled DeLuxe ESC.
The 40A dlux ESC is also supposed to be Data Logging Ready. Can you please verify the Prog. Box versions?
Mine: Hextronik Prog. Box V0242
AIRplane-SBEC Ver: A260202
thanks
Ahhh! Mine is Ver. 4 - looks like you have one with the Ver.2 firmware. I had one of those last year that did not have any data functions.
Just another quick check you can do - can you set 'brake' via your box? If not, it is def. Ver.2
It gets better.
The buttons functions do not correspond with the labels :)
The label says "Left Up Right Down" but my operation is
"Left Up Down Right"
I agree it makes more sense but what a lack of coordination....
Wow. This has been on back order for quite a while now. Come on HK. Use your clout as the 800 pound gorilla in the RC market to speed up delivery of items like this that have been back ordered for so long.
Yeah, I finally gave up and changed my order to the Turnigy Super Brain 100A, it is on its way. I will try to give some input once I have it in hand.
Wolf
Overall very good programer, the only thing missing is the possibility to set brake on this box, you have to set it with the radio. very clever the power plug, you can connect it at will without inverting the polarity. About the button layout could be improved but it is easy to get used to.

I have rated it low because it does NOT allow programming of all the the actions stated. "Timing (Auto, Very Low, Low, Normal, High, Very High)".
On my dlux 70Amp ECS's, the only timing selections are AUTO, NORMAL, and HIGH) Not sure if this is a fault of factory installed programs in the ESC's or the programming box, or false advertising??
