The HobbyKing Quadcopter control board uses Japanese Murata piezo gyros that are less sensitive to vibration than SMD type gyros and also features state of the art SMT manufacturing to ensure quality. This board also uses a user programmable Atmega48PA IC.

Whats is a Quadcopter Control board you ask?

The HobbyKing Quadcopter controller is a flight control board for 4 rotor Aircraft (Quadcopters). Its purpose is to stabilise the aircraft during flight. To do this it takes the signal from the three on board gyros (roll, pitch and yaw) then passes the signal to the Atmega48PA IC. The Atmega48PA IC unit then processes these signals according the users installed software and passes control signals to the installed Electronic Speed Controllers (ESCs). These signals instruct the ESCs to make fine adjustments to the motors rotational speed which in turn stabalises your Quadcopter.

The HobbyKing Quadcopter control board also uses signals from your radio systems receiver (Rx) and passes these signals to the Atmega48PA IC via the ail, ele, thr and rud inputs. Once this information has been processed the IC will send varying signals to the ESCs which in turn adjust the rotational speed of each motor to induce controlled flight (up, down, backwards, forwards, left, right, yaw).

Hi there, I have a pretty lame quadcopter(my father bought it), I was thinking of buying and my father bought one so I can play(I'm not a kid but I guess parents will always see their children as kids :P). So I'm thinking of changing it's board as it had VERY poor stability, I need to be there constantly every milisecond in order to make it somehow stable. Its a rayline r806 and if you ask me its REALLY poor, can't even do it fly stable inside my house. Can I just chance to this board and make it better? (I'm good with solder even tiny solders, I'm a pc tech guy and also repair phones ..soldering microusb jacks is hard but I can do it if nessesary) - Thank you

I'd personally use a cc3d, very nice board and not too expensive. Or similar to this (you kinda need to know what you are doing with gains and stuff) is a kk2.1, it has a lcd on it to change settings. The cc3d is good because you just plug it into a computer to set it up and it's pretty much plug and play.

Hi! Is this the only computer i need to controll a quad (if i connect the reciever to the controll board)? Sorry for the maybe stupid question :)

Hi Martin, If you want to fly in the Plus mode not the X mode, then this board will work without having to do anything to it. However, if you want to fly in the X mode, the board will need to be flashed. I've found that flashing with newer firmware makes these boards fly more stable than with the firmware that comes on it. I flashed mine to fly in X mode and it did nicely. Hope this helps and happy flying!

Juan, I'm assuming you asked "as plus or X copter. When it arrives, it will fly your quad as a Plus copter. If you want to fly in the X mode, it will need to be flashed (highly recommended). Even flashing with new firmware in the plus mode will make it fly much better than with the stock firmware. Hope this helps and happy flying!

Hi, I am using the kkmulticopter tool to flash a new quad controller for xcopter operation. Tried the kk v4.7 but have the lazy m4 issue that does not respond to the normal fixes. I thought I would try the XXcontrol from Mike Barton but it fails to flash with this board. Have tried using XP and Win7 and two different USBasp controllers but still no luck. The kk4,7 flashes fine. Contacted Christian Moll but he said his version of this board flashes fine with the v1.1. Has anybody experienced this issue?

seems to be a good piece of kit. I'm running it on a homemade tricopter and it flys pretty stable after only 3 test flights (need some more tweaking). Loading firmware was pretty easy just followed the how to guide on YouTube. it took a little bit for me to figure out how to setup the tx and board about as long as it took me to figure out how to setup a 120deg swashplate for the first time without instructions, just follow the setup on the KK board site. Agree with others would be nice if it came with male to male servo leads for the receiver to board connection (i just soldered mine to the board). overall very happy good work HK, recommend if your building a multirotor.

HC Quad Frame and HC FC (Control Boad) build time is 1-2hrs quality is ok to good, comes partly built, the ply is sub std to carbon fiber however the product works, the gear is way too fragile and I removed it after the first flight. (HC please hear me I would like one of these in Carbon please) It needs some weight underneath to help get a good stable flight so dont cheap out on the undercart which is too weak the air frame will appreciate a little extra weight under neath. I am really happy it and others with XAircraft quads said its better :) (out of the box and value for money) I ran either 2 x 2200 3S (for a little extra weight) or 1 x 4000 3S I am running the HC $40 Controller and out of the box it is great very simple to install and use with the instructions (which are missing from the Quad frame I might add).. I set the Gains all to about 75pcnt with good results I did not flash or change anything on the unit pre install. It was installed out of the box so to speak Motors are the Turnigy Park 300's which are perfect! The props are the HC CW and CCW 8x4 props and work great and are fairly sturdy.. Rx is an Orange 6ch So all up its about $100 for a simple yet great flying Quad THANKS HC!!!! (Carbon Version please!!!!) how about a Xaircraft 450 and 650 copy :) Flight vid

I am pleased at how the board was shipped, packaged in foam box for protection. I am also pleased at how easily it was to undersand how to connect what connections to what pins on the board. My only problem I have is that after all my setup, I can't get my quad copter to fire up. Is there any trouble shooting documentation anywhere? Is there a specific arming and disarming sequence that needs to take place?
I gave this product only four stars because although it was pretty easy to figure out what connections go where, I could not find any trouble shooting documentation.

I have the FY 90 and 91Q but this one seems to be just as good as the FY units. I am going to purchase more.
