This model is hot! An EPO 1.4m 3D head-turning machine; this large scale model will surely draw a crowd at any club and demand full respect amongst 3D pilots the world over.
The distinctive and scale scheme is ideal for orientation. The MX2 is large for an EPO model and it looks nearly twice the size once its in the air. Its a blast to fly and is very 3D capable!
The powerful, pre-installed 36-48 motor spinning that large & scale 3 blade prop gives plenty of thrust for the wildest of maneouvers, and the pre-installed servos are certainly up to the job. Generous size control surfaces combined with light weight ensure this is a true performer as well as a head turner. Practical as well as easy on the eye, the wings are detachable for easy transportation, a large canopy ensures easy access to Lipoly tray, wing bolts and so on.
You can also made some, I believe it is not so hard, you can use any plastic, just heat it up and make your own design, I havent seen any skies here. Were are you from that you need skies, I am also from could country but if is too cold your battery will not last long and also to fly is quite uncomfortable as your hands are frozen...I tried one winter but as soon as the temperature is under 0 my hands frozen and is hard to fly wind make much colder....
In my opinion the plane is too heavy, I like MX2 very much, but I think I will go after MX2 from ST Model, the price is better and specification: Wingspan: 1210mm (47.6in)
Length: 1106mm (43.5in)
Weight: 960g (33.8oz) Battery 3S 2200mAh with what is possible also hoower. The cost is lower and also cost of 3S vs. 4S... Shame that HK does not do it in the same specification also. The size is also not so different. I am wrong I would like to have comments from owners of HK MX2, coz by the way I also like HK MX2 :D
Always check the center of gravity. Which should be about 1/3 from the front of the wing. Make sure the control surfaces move the right way. For the elevator up should be moving up and rudder should move left for left and for aileron it should move up towards the direction you are turning. Good Luck!
Forget using any 3s battery. Buy 4s 2200min. As far as I can tell you if the elevator and aileron servos are plastic under the control arm then you have a 45a esc & 3648 motor. If steel gear, then you have the 3d version with 70a 4248 motor. Before assemble there is glue in nearly all the threads. must be cleaned out or screws will lock up and not tighten. The wheel plate may not be aligned, you can flip out the wooden piece & modify the holes. There may not be a screw for spinner, so cut down a long screw(supplied)to suit. Have used extension cables for wings and elevon set up as I have to remove wings for transport. Buy xtra props and a couple of spinners.....they break easy. I run the 4s 2200 zippy. cog perfect. flight awesome. love it.
I fly with 4S 2200mAh Nanotechs and it is tail heavy. I Cut a small peice of foam so that I could move the battery forward and not everything is great.
problem.......!!!!i receive this plane at home and is not 1900g 70a 4250 motor .....hk tell you that but in reality is 1900g esc 45a 3638 motor 2200mha and the 3d version is 2100g 70a 4250 motor and 3200mha ....its a bad publicity who can help me thanks
Hi guys , My MX2 epo green 3d 1400mm . My aileron servo left chatters and sometimes doesn't want to go back to centre when stick is released it stayed hard left in a flight today i safely landed and noticed it chatters its head off only on left the right is fine , anyone had this problem and what would be needed to fix this. I have had only around 18 flights !!Thanks Mick
Just measure the servo and replace it with one of the same size. HK servos die pretty frequently. I replaced one of my wing servos with hitec 65 and the elevator with hitec 225.
Hi, everybody! I received MX2 Green 3D 1400mm EPO (PNF). good and big plane. At once I made some completions: 1 . Completely I pasted over all model with a transparent adhesive tape. Why the model turned out strong and from blow about the earth practically doesn't break! 2 . The chassis too should be strengthened at once as they fell off at once! 3 . The motor-frame should be remade, fell off at once at the first falling! I ordered at once spare screws. I recommend this model, impresses
in flight!
Hello, my MX2 was to test a battery with nano 4s 70c/130 2700 and one of the capacitors 80A ESC melted the connector pin, tell me someone knows what could have happened to this place, ESC What else could I buy here site for my MX2? Thank you!
got mine yesterday. went together all right looks alright. but does anyone know anything about the ESC???? as soon as i plug any servo in to my receiver the ESC starts beeping and servos start spazzing out going nuts and the motor starts cutting in and out. to start with i thought it was my receiver so i tried 2 others still the same happened so i took one out of my plane i fly all the time and still the same happens tried a whole new TX and RX and still the same... any ideas please as i want to fly my new plane only thing i can put it down to is the ESC is ****!!!!!
Supposedly the esc is a SUPO (see file section). But I ve complained to HK about the ESC and so far none of the answers they gave allowed me to program the ESC. Since you don t know how it is programmed I will recommend you to buy an ESC that can programmed. You will find TONS of advices like reverse channel, trim down, everything back to neutral and and...Technical support at HK is useless on that topic. Besides that if flies great. Search for my previous post about how I rugged mine.
i complained to HK as well but waste of time as it gets you no where. i tried everything to get it to work even tried on my new $pektrum with 2 new RX and still the same. HK no the ESC have problems but just dont seem to care. guess thats what you get when you buy cheap as your not saving in the end cause yourll have to go out and buy something else. and your replays dont get seen :(
Why does HK offer LiPo's as "combo" that have XT60 connector when the plane's ESC have 3.5mm connectors (suggesting that the limit of 60Amps for the XT60 will be exceded?)? Now I'm sitting here with LiPo's with XT60 connectors that I'm not sure will be suitable for this planes current draw.

can anybody help...
I love this plane but am having a weird problem..
when I do a loop it executes great but if I use full elevator to try a tight one ..it twists out..like the ailerons air on for a sec.
I had a guy watch my sticks while I did this and Im not pulling to the side when I do it..I even put 70% expo on the ailerons to make sure..any ideas??
it flies great in every way but the tight loop..!!
The twisting is because one wing is stalling -I think it is caused because one wing has slightly less lift than the other (no 2 wings are identical), so it "drops" and the plane corkscrews. You are pulling too tight a loop - just back off on the elevator throw (reduce throw on your transmitter settings)until the plane no longer does this. You may also experience a similar effect if you dial up too much aileron throw - That can also induce a wing to stall and the plane will flick over violently.
ok i see watt u meen..but this is a 3D plane and tight loops are a MUST...
now watt?? buy a better plane??
also need a new prop adapter..any ideas..
i like HK but this plane has been a constant bother cince i bought it...
IT Took a YEAR to get the missing hardware form them...HK needs to up there SUPPORT ...
tkx
I agree, it's not the best plane for 3D - too heavy for a start - although the motor is plenty powerful, the wing loading is just too high for my preference - others may disagree, but I think this plane is definitely more of a "big-sky aerobat" - if you fly it big and fast, it's great - if you try to fly it like a floater, you will be very disappointed, I think. Look at the P A Bandit - almost as big, but exactly HALF the weight...
ive been flying for 4-5 yrs now and wanted to get a arobatic plane capable of 3D as i get better...this plane flies great but i cant get no where near watt is in the wargo vid..
im use to FPV and flying for 20 mins or so
i had a T-28 parkzone given to me buy a guy who doent like to keep a plane he crashes..i fixed it and can do some really neat aerobatics with it..
what plane would you recommend for first 3D'er
tkx
I know what you mean - Wargo is a top world-class pilot and could make a length of 4x2 pine fly well. The MX2 is a a great plane, but like I said, way too high a wing loading for "easy" 3-D. try something smaller with a very low wing loading - say 10 - 12oz/sq ft. There are loads of good 3D foamies around, or if you are serious, try any of the Precision Aerobatics planes - they ALL perform extremely well. I learned/ am still learning on the PA Addiction. It is great, and has a wing loading of about 8 or 9 oz/sq ft.
If you can't get a replacement, I would push the shaft forward through the rotor and use a collet type prop adapter. You might need to source a longer shaft but this will be the best solution.
just got the answer from support about the prop adapter..
here is a copy of HK reply
Dear joe ,
Thanks for contacting the HobbyKing Support Team.

no part number just a statement..
are all the support people this DUMB..?
WOW..another yr www.link wanted to fly this at the NEAT fair in NY ..
guess they dont understand english..??
Had a similar experience last year. I guess you know why HK is so cheap. Local hobby shop is asking $ 270 for this plane.. IDENTICAL! I doubt if they would be able to supply a new prop adapter either....
hey for all to see
got the part number for adapter ..it also fits the sbach..
PRODUCT ID: 177000009
heres the www.link came through
BUT..ITS BACKORDERED
S@#$T
I translated your reply..
When you do the closed loop model airplane stol, why does he tumbled sideways .... simple ..
watt do you want to know or tell me your ideas..

Yes, but only just, if it is a good quality battery - the motor will pull 60 - 65 amps flat-out, so 20C is right on the limit - fine if you don't fly like a maniac all the time. I would strongly recommend 25 or 30C batts, if you can.
Great plane, but because I am not great pilot, I despratelly need spare wing! Hobbyking marketing, please put it on stock. Or at least if it was possible to buy new plane without electronic, would be fantastic!
i have a few queries. what prop does this come with? are the wings removable for easy transport? Is it a plane that can be used for scaled aerobatics at competitiions?
Can someone tell me where to find the manual for the BEC. Can someone tell me if this is normal: As a safety measure while keeping the plane on ground I ve drained down a battery: When the engine stopped the receiver was powered down. A good way to crash your model. Order in May 2012. Thanks and happy landing.
Hi Triple Seven, the manual for the ESC 70Amp that comes with the MX2 Green you can download it from the files section of the blue MX2,your second question i really dont understand it. Hope this helps
ESC: All the links found on internet do not correspond to what the ESC is doing. One low tone then 2 short tones with throttle up (supposely setup mode). So I cannot programm it. And I refuse to put my ship in the air with the defaults programming (if any).
Hi again Triple Seven, one question is your Tx Futaba? if so your throttle settings has to be reversed. Another question when you say one low tone then two short tones ,do you mean a low tone and two short beeps? Because I need more details to try and help you.
Hi again Triple Seven, i just checked the serial numbers on my ESC, and found that mine is TP-E03-0070, so i suppose your lucky, because yours is 80Amp, i suppose HK has upgraded the ESC to a higher amp and that is a good news. Nevertheless 70 or 80A the programming instructions are the same.
Sorry to hear that, have you tried setting the transmitter throttle end points. This is so you ESC can identify you high and low throttle end points of your transmitter.Try that then let me know.
Take caution with the ESC because the BEC is not enough ventilated, it is a poor BEC, it comes to hot, even with 4S! A good idea is to add a SBEC like "SBEC-40V".
The color scheme makes this airplane more easily visible in cloudy and misty condtions. besides that it looks great!

Build/unboxing:
Just received the plane. The ESC was sitting in the fuselage but it was not attached to the motor. Not sure how to attach it without splitting open the fuselage which I don't want to do. Looks like I will have to cut off the cowl possibly instead. The motor and ESC needs to be buried pretty far into the nose. Too tight to get needle nose pliers in there and definitely not able to get some fingers in there. The ESC wires to the motor and the motor wires are very short. Seems to be a decent air channel from the cowling to the rear for cooling the motor, esc, and battery. Instructions are decent and color but is written in Chinglish. Plane is modular in construction and bolts together. The control horns need to be installed, they do not come pre-attached. The Servos and ESC are "Top Fire" brand. Looks to be 9g servos all around. The ESC is labeled at 70amps. The motor has no brand name but is red and maroon in color similar to the FMS/Airfield brand that is featured in the FMS warbird series. The hinges are metallic and smooth. No foam hinges on this bird.
So far I gave the aircraft 4 crowns for overall because of the attention to detail, adequate ESC, and nice hinges. 3 crowns for value because the price of shipping was awfully high to the USA with the basic airmail postal shipping. The plane and a battery cost $180 with shipping. The invoice attached to the s

Put together in 1 hour, very easy. Instructions could be more bigger. Had my maiden flight the next day, flys very well the only thing is cg is were recommended but still tail heavy. 2200mah lasted for around 6-7 min. I tried 3300 mah went for 12 min and still more power left. that is flying 1/2 throttle. Overall its woth the time and money with this baby.

Flew first 2 flights today, sensational. Wheels are a drama, get a bit unlockd in, will have to deal with that, but we do fly of a very green and lush grass field in Margaret River WA field. Just fly's very well and once trimmed out is maginficent to fly.
Everyone else wants one now!!
I want another one as a backup, try it you will love it!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday I received the plane, actually 30 minutes was assembled, and ready to take its first flight. I see that may have insufficient ventilation and the battery still does not like putting it to fit, as of 2450 will be able to milliamps and I'll have to make the box a little bigger.
It'll give more details because we have to rebis all before flying and if I can send videos of the flights.
