I bought this camera and had a lot of fun with it on my planes. Then I bought another one. It did not work. 50% failure rate is unaceptable. I'm not going to bother trying to get another one. I also recently bought some Rotostar servos, 8 of them. 4 digital and 4 analog 3 our of 4 of the digital worked. I'm forced to use the analog since I want them to be in pairs. Again, I'm not going to bother with even trying to get replacements, a waste of time.
RE: HD Wing Camera 1280x720p 30fps 5MP CMOS
When I plugged the camera into my USB charger, two LED's lit up. One was a Mysterious 'Blue' LED on the same side of the PCB as the buttons (near the center) that came on for a bit, then went off. The other 'red' LED is at the end of the PCB, but on the same side as the LiPo. It remains on while plugged in to the USB Charger.
I really need to know what these LED's are for. More importantly, how do I know when the LiPo is fully charged?
Thanks for any help.
Hi catta, Under the purple [Files] tab, the next to the last file there should help. It says something like "Simple Setup and Use guide". Great little camera even in low light. Hope this helps and Happy flying!
Hi RonRC. Thx for the reply. Yes. I followed that. The *Key* statement in there says "With in a few seconds, it should turn pink" That just does not happen. I've left it 15 mins & it still never turned pink. Think my camera is a dud! (Also, the lense is "floppy", only held on by connector, so it will probably shake in flight) Cheers, C
Really good camera for the money.
Use it in a small Quadrocopter for FPV.
This cam records much better then a keychain cam plus you can use it as fpv-cam (with a little trick)!
For sure this cam can´t be compared to a GoPro but you get it for only $35 - I´m very happy with it.
For all who want to use this camera as FPV-cam while recording - read this!
Normally you won´t get any live view at the TV-OUT while recording but I found out a little trick how it does work:
- switch on the camera
- wait until it´s initialized (long vibration)
- set it motion detection video mode (press on/off button twice untile yellow and blue leds will be on)
- plug in your AV-plug
- wait for a short time until you will see the live view on your Display/TV
! The following steps must be done very fast, if you do this too slow, the camera will switch off !
- pull out your AV-plug
- set camera to video mode (press on/off button twice untile only blue led will be on)
- plug in your AV-plug again
This has to be done very fast, otherwise the camera will switch off!
Now you can push the record button to start recording while AV-Out gives live view signal for your transmitter.

5 thumbs up!
This camera is awesome for the budget. Very easy to use after you got the buttons order.
1) Press the button far from the lens for 2 seconds to turn it on (blue led). In a few seconds the vibrating motor will confirm that the camera is ready to go.
2) Select the mode using the same button: Blue - record video Red - photo. Blue / Yellow - record video automatic with any camera move. Red / Yellow - the same, but for photos.
3) Press the middle button to start/stop recording or to take a photo.
4) To turn it off press the button far from the lens again for 2 seconds. If you forget the camera on it will turn off after 3 minutes.
The camera was design to record with the buttons up, so it´s better to use it on the top of the plane.
Well, after recording you could watch the movies (avi) on your TV or computer. The computer is the only way to erase and copy the videos and you just need to connect via USB. It works very well on a PC or MAC.
Using a TV
Connect the camera cable to any Video Input on your TV. The default setting is for NTSC video, so no problem. You could change this and many other settings using the "camera´s tv menu".
1) The button closer to the lens is a menu selector. Press it for 2 seconds and you bring the menu up. 2) Use this button and the middle one to select options. (DON´T CHANGE THE LANGUAGE UNLESS YOU LIVE

Well, you get what you pay for. One shouldn't expect a professional video quality, but at least the cam works, the focus is ok, and the video quality depends from the light conditions. The colors are fine most of the time, but sometimes the white balance doesn't work correctly, and strange color effects can be observed. The main problem is the sharp change in brightness that occurs sometimes every few seconds, e.g. when the horizon is in the middle of the picture. Then sometimes the sky appears white, and sometimes the ground is almost black. The regulation of exposure seems to be a real problem. The video output works fine (NTSC or PAL format), but unfortunaltely there are several symbols and numbers (e.g. record time) that overlay the picture and that are really annoying when using the cam for FPV purposes. In summary, the camera isn't really bad, but you should not expect to much.
