Bixler v1.1 EPO 1400mm (RTF Mode 2 Throttle Left Radio)
Looking for a ready to fly trainer? or an in-expensive FPV platform? Maybe you are a club pilot looking for something you can just pull out of the car and fly on one of those lazy Sunday afternoons? The Hobbyking Bixler ticks all of these boxes and more!
The Bixler has all the right ingredients, made from super tough EPO foam, everything is pre-installed so minimal assembly time is required, in fact, by the time you have charged the included battery with the supplied charger, it should be ready to fly!
Stop Press!!
Allow us to introduce the Bixler V1.1 with a myriad of improvements over the original Bixler. Our v1.1 features relocated elevator and rudder servos, now closer to the tail and accessible via a magnetic hatch on the underside of the fuselage. Why? you may ask - This allows much more usable space inside the front section of the fuselage, something that FPV'ers are going to thank us for! We have also updated the included hardware to include better quality components, such as the new 4 bolt control horns on all surfaces. We also include 2 different propellers, one for high speed and the other for carrying heavier payloads. You - our customers spoke, we listened! The end result is the Bixler V1.1!
Full 4 channel control is a must for new pilots and experienced pilots alike and the included 2.4ghz radio, & 6 channel receiver combo is packed with plenty of features, including a range test button for peace of mind, a mix facility, servo reversing and a trainer port!
I just had a fellow BIXLER flyter donate his aircraft to me. I rebuilt it (been flying for 28ish years now). I just need to know where the correct CG is located? Please help.
Well, I have managed to work out most of the questions I had from a few hours research. I cant work out what the 8 x AA Dry Cell Battery for TX means or what it is for. Cheers.
Hey there,
I met a guy who has a Bixler and he said they are great to start with.
I just want to make sure before buying that it comes with everything I need to just assemble and go.
I also need to know about whether I need extra batteries or anything else ?
Does this set meet all the criteria?
And lastly, being in New Zealand, any special adapters needed for the battery charger?
hey guys, being new to electric airplanes etc and trying to decide which plane to buy: does this radio allow you to bind it to other bnf planes?
I see DSMX allows this but not sure about this radio.
I ask because I always look ahead to my next purchase and eventually I'd like a scale warbird and it'd be great if I could use this radio with it.
I wouldn't fly it in that much wind but it could. It is one of the most stabile planes I've ever flown.
I fly FPV with mine so it's much heavier than a normally loaded Bixler. I have a 5000mah battery stuffed in it along with a video transmitter.
That was tough for me too. I used an awle to align the holes a little better. On a side note once it's together and flown a couple times it does get easier to align the holes. I guess the wear makes provides just enough slop.
It's impossible to say exactly, but with most 2.4ghz transmitters and receivers you will loose sight of the plane long before you use your radio link. I've been out 2 km on my Turnagy 9x flying by video.
Yeah this threw me as well. The red light just means power to the charger. The other green light means charging and when charged it goes out leaving just the red light on.
Keith, I had a lot of trouble...then noticed in my manual that one of the pictures showed what looked like a straightened paper clip or some small diameter solid wire used to probe into a bolt hole to find the bottom where the screw starts to do its job. I had to insert wire and gently push in or pull out slowly on the wing to where i could feel the hole lining up all the way down with the wire in one hand. Then insert screw and try same for other bolt. A piece of solid 14 gauge copper electrical wire works as well. jc

Am trying to put wings onto body of my Bixler 1.1 and cant get the screws to line up, ive heard this is a problem with this plane can anyone give me an idea of how to get it lined up, ive tryed for 2 days wings seem to be in right but screws wont fgo all way through Thanks Keith

Auston, kv stands for rpm/volts. In other words, the 1900kv rating means that you will get a prop speed of 14060 rpms with a 2S battery of 7.4 volts or 21090 rpm with a 3S battery of 11.1 volts. This is controlled by how they wind the motor (wire size, number of windings, etc).
Yes you will have no problem with a go pro. This is one of my favorite fvp planes on the market. Just don't forget to balance out your plane after adding the go pro. Hope this helps and happy flying.
Hey,
I'm new to all this stuff and just ordered the bixler a week or so ago.
I have a 2200mah 3s lipo pack 20c discharge rate. Could I use it with the stock setup. Some people say it could fry the esc. Is that true?
No it wont fry the esc. The 3s 20c is what comes with the bixler but it is 1300mah so I don't know if the battery will fit. That would be the only concern of mine. See if it fits and if so, balance it out and enjoy the longer flight time. Just remember that you might get a higher wing loading but I don't think that it will be too significant. Enjoy the bixler as they are a very fun plane to fly. Hope I helped.
When i ordered my bixler V1.1, the number for the motot ws printed on the bottom of the box, in my case print stated 2620 brushless outrunner. Hope this helps you. john
hey, I want to fly FPV with the bixler (and FY31AP) but i don't get much power and i can fly higher than 20 feet (6m) I think i'm going to buy a 40 amp esc and a 2600 mah lipo to get more power or do i have to do something ells?
get a larger prop, or get a higher turn (kv) motor... the Battery you choose MAH does not give it more power, your looking for how many cells, generally 3 and 4 cell batteries. 3 cell having 11.1 volts and 4 cell having around 14 volts... if you go with a 4 cell make sure your esc can handle it, upgrading is a great idea, 40amp is plenty, you should maybe upgrade motor, or upgrade to a larger prop, but watch your temps just incase or even better figure out how to read the amp draw per individual prop by testing it in a triangle jig, sorry not sure what the name of it is, flitetest has a video on this. Hope i helped a little, im fairly new myself.
Hi all, just finished putting together my Bixler but I think one of my servos is broken. Motor, rudder, elevator and left aileron all work perfectly - but the right aileron servo doesn't respond at all.
My wires from the aileron servos all match black/red/white correctly to the Y connector, which is plugged in to Ch1 on my receiver with black to the outside (the same as all the other channels). Have also tried plugging the right and left servo wires directly to the receiver Ch1 on separate occasions (i.e without the Y connector) and same result, left works fine but right doesn't respond. Have also inspected the wires and connections running through to the left aileron servo, no signs of damage.
Is there anything I've done wrong, or any other ways to diagnose/fix the problem? Or is it time to buy a new servo?
Thanks in advance.
well you've done everything so I don't know what to do ells. I think you have to get a new servo. (maybe hobbyking will give you a new servo you can ask them if you want)
I had to replace both my aileron servos on a brand new plane. When I first got it the left servo was bouncey and moved eraticly. Replaced it then on the maiden flight the other servo locked up and crashed. You'll be happy to know it's a tough little plane. So I ended up replacing both servos with HXT900 and it works great. There is just a little cutting to the servo pocket that needs to be done but it's not a big deal.
Just flying , all FPV gear in it , but no spotter didn't want to risk it, last time I got disorientated lucky I had a spotter whe I took my fat sharks off ,didn't know where the model was
After waiting for 3 weeks my pane have finally arrived. I assembled it well. Everything works but the motor. It beeps but doesn't work. I tested it by injecting 3 to 5 volts. Looks like its faulty. I am so pissed off right now....
Thank you Carlos,
I tried that too. I think hobby king might have sent me a faulty motor or esc. Someone from hobby king is in touch with me. Hopefully they will replace it for me. Can't wait to fly it :)
I had the same problem, maybe you need to program your ESC again (1 turn on the receiver 2 move throttle up 3 turn on the transmitter 4 when the motor starts to beep (twice) move throttle down 5 turn the receiver and transmitter off 6 turn everything on and try again :) hope it works
I also had no trottle and found out that i had to reverse the trottle switch on the T4A transmitter to get the motor to work. john

10 thumbs up!
This is a very well put together plane. I didn't even need to read the manual in order to construct it, and when assembled, it's very straight and true. Propeller doesn't look like it will last long, but there are plenty of other 5x8 props around for little £$£$. all in all 5 Crowns from me.
Welcome to the official http://RCFLYGUYS.COM Unboxing of the HobbyKing Bixler 1400 RTF.
Starting with the Packaging, it's great. There was a little bending of a wingtip, but nothing a little pressure took out. The box is very pretty and the equipment was easy to find.
Looking at the gear, it looks great, the motor is pre-mounted, with the prop mount for easy install. Wingrod is Carbon fiber which is n ice. The stickers, I'm not a big fan of, personally, I took them off and painted it. For FPV use this is great, the cockpit is large, and the front of the fuselage is big. The powerhouse of the RTF Came with a nice ESC, and a 1300 3 Cell LIPO which gave it plenty of power and longevity. The motor really impressed us with the power, it's definitely a good fit for the model.
The instructions have lots of pictures and very easy to follow. Putting it together was easy, for beginners this is a real dream to put together. If you're running low on space and you're a hobby enthusiast, you'll want to make the wings separate not glued in permanently.
The bixler branded radio and receiver was a real nice touch, very easy to bind, and a great set-up.
We flew this guy with the HK WingCam HD and it was lovely, the plane has lots of power and is great with the default configuration.
Josh Bixler, it's a great plane to have named after you, and it is a pleasure to fly.

1 thumbs up!
Bought the RTF version. East assembly, everything fits perfectly. One control horn not properly glued on, but easy to fix. Control horns are not the best quality, holes are badly drilled. Will probably replace these, as well as remove the nose weights. Files great, I've only flied on a simulator berøre and took this up today in a bit og wind with zero issues. Nice and steady at half throttle, very easy to land as it's a great glider. Elevator is very pitchy, so recommend a bit of expo on it. Very happy with this purchase!
