Can anyone tell me what those numbes mean on any servo like this one 51g/9kg/0.20s please and thanks
 Ninjatech 3646 points
51g=servo's weight/ 9kg=servo's torque/ 0.20s=servo's speed

can i use this servo at this project? http://www.youtube.com/channel/SWVbkD4RdYwv0
 blink_boi 7 points
These will work like a charm yes. However, be aware that the servos used in the video are mini servo. This one is a standard servo, standard servo weigh more and will add weight to your plane. Also, he mentioned the use of digital servo if you are planning to use a head tracker. This servo is an Analog servo. If you want a good match to what he is using...you could try something like this: www.link

hi there will it work for fg steering and are they good servos thanks
 M@rkus 27 points
9kg are too few 15-20kg, it should have been
 CyberTron 166 points
Regarding fg steering, it all depends of size and weight of your model. As every other thing you buy, quality cost $. You get a cheap servo, little noisy and a bit slow. I only use this servo for secondary controls like rudder and flaps. For primary controls like aileron and elevator i use BMS-620MG High Torque Servo (Metal Gear) 9.1kg / .15sec / 50g I fly some big models and these servos have never let me down.
norco kid  34 points - 11/24/2012

Are there replacement gears available for this servo? Or is it a "throwaway" after it strips?
 boingk 257 points
They don't strip - they have metal gears!

Please, can I use the following Rx batteries for this servo:
-NiMH of 5S = 6v (with a load maximum of 8v)
-LiFePo of 2S = 6.6v (with a maxi. of 7.2v)
Thank you
 patdisilva 9 points
Please don't exceed a voltage of 6 volts at any servo (except high voltage types). It will reduce lifespan and can damage the servos instantly
 viktor 6 points
-NiMH of 5S = 6v (with a load maximum of 8v)
they use is not necessary. such actuators consume much power. only lithium.
PEDRO  6 points - 7/31/2012

which the operating current of the servo? Thanks for the help.
 Sharkky 6 points
The operating voltage is from 4.8V to 6.0V. Don't go further than 6V because you will burn it.

Nice answer, Sharkky. What would you have said if he'd asked for the operating voltage? Have a look at Juan's response - that's an ANSWER.

Hi. can i use a 12v power for this servos? I am building a Hexapod.
 I.Ralenekov 138 points
I doubt it. They wouldn't stand high voltage. In your case you should use a 5v/6v BEC.
 Dimi Yo 122 points
Don't use 12V to this servo , unless you want to fry it ... : ) This servo is rated for 4.8v~6v .
 Juan 37 points
If you use a 12V battery, you should use a LM7806 regulator to power the servo.
zanek  95 points - 6/27/2012

What is the approximate kv of the motor? Thanks, Zane
 TeslaBEM 36 points
I don't think KV applies to Servos, because they only work from 5 to 6v and because they don't rotate continuosly. But you still could calculate the kv, like this: 0.2s/60 = 3.33mS per degree -> 1.2 Seg per revolution, then we get the rpm dividing 60s/1.2s = 50rpm. So, we have 50rpm and 6v, that would be ~8.33kv
 zanek 95 points
To know the kv you need to know the gear ratio of the servo
 TeslaBEM 36 points
Ok, I get what you try to do but if you put a speedier motor instead of the one that this servo have, it won't work properlly because the servo position control is calibrated specifically to the motor that is inside. I haven't tried though, would be nice if this works, good luck.
 Gonzalo 1 points
no matter the engine if you want the servo to which capacity you need.
zanek  95 points - 6/27/2012

What is the size of the motor? In MM Thanks, Zane
 TeslaBEM 36 points
It's standard size.
 zanek 95 points
Thanks but what is standard size? The reason I am asking these questions is because I am trying to find a servo that I can put a brushless motor into. Thanks for your trying though
 TeslaBEM 36 points
Oh, I get the question now, umm, I don't have one on hand, may be tomorrow i would write... meh, too lazy.
 Gonzalo 1 points
no matter the engine if you want the servo to which capacity you need.
 RonRC 1992 points
zanek, Wow! The problem you will run into with putting a brushless motor in one of these servos will not be the motor but the ESC. You will need one that reverses on the fly so it can make the arm travel both directions with ease. These servos have a tiny version of a brushed ESC in them that is reversible. I suppose my question is, why do you want to put a brushless motor in there? Ha ha! Unless, like me, you are a mad scientist experimenting on some crazy project trying to bring it to life! Moo hoo ha ha ha ha! Take care and happy flying!
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 zanek 95 points
Thanks Ron I didn't think of that. Most ESCs want a second before they reverse and that wouldn't work
 RonRC 1992 points
You're quite welcome and thanks for the credit!

Good afternoon friends, I am in doubt to buy high-torque servos. HK 15288A is good?
 RonRC 1992 points
Asa, I'm not sure if it will serve my purposes being plugged into a control board, but from what I've seen on here, it is quite powerful. I'm not sure what you intend to use it for but I planned to use it to actuate a camera gimbal that will be carrying my Canon T2i.

its a very good servo with alot of torque but what surprises me most about these servos is that they have alot of torque but is also VERY fast servos

Can someone tell me if this servo will work OK (using two) to actuate a camera gimbal controlled by a multi-rotor control board?
 TeslaBEM 36 points
This should have not problem, it's a very powerful servo.
 RonRC 1992 points
So, it will be able to handle the refresh rate of the control board? Most are between 300-400 times per second.

i have 4 of these they will do anything standard does
 valbyzracing 10 points
Puoi utlizzarlo come regolazione per acceleratore/freno, per lo sterzo userei un servo più potente e veloce come HK15298 High Voltage
 Adam 41 points
yes you should be able to, it be slow and weak but will work, i used them in 1/8 buggies for steering. i tried in a emaxx for steering, i had to have the horn as small as i could to get ok torque for steering
 Josh 13 points
yes you can..
but depends what for.. "
it probably will perform as well as standard because its 9kg, and standard is 3kg, "
but i suggest 10-15kg for throttle and brake servo. and 20-25kg for steering as the steering on monster trucks are a heavier duty, plus the speed of the servo does increase when you use a 15-20kg servo,
if your doing bashing or racing, i suggest using a higher kg servo

I wasn't talking about the plug, they tell you it's a JR in the description. I was talking about the spline you screw the servo arm onto. I think it's Futaba size.

Any good for 20cc gasser ?

I'd recommend them for a 20cc gasser... currently I am using them in a 5ft wingspan .46-powered Stick with no problems. Hope that helps.
 simdaddy 75 points
Sorry all ...I meant to ask : Is it good as 20cc gasser THROTTLE servo ?
 barataleonardo 52 points
Estou usando no meu edge 540 com motor 46 a dois meses e ate hoje estou sem problemas, pelo preço vale muito a pena mesmo.

this servo fits in a traxxas tmaxx steering?
 boingk 257 points
Yeah mate, fits cars with ease. You might want to consider the 17g analouge or 8g analouge offerings though... check the dimensions listed. Both servos have given me good service over very many flight hours with my RC planes. Hope that helps.
 valbyzracing 10 points
Io per lo sterzo utilizzerei HK 15298 High Voltage, molto più veloce, potente ed affidabile.
pejay  548 points - 10/6/2011

Why are the horns so small. The same size HK servo with plastic gears has much sturdier and larger horns and the torque for this plastic gear servo is much less. And a Hextronic HX12K MG servo of same size (but 1 kg more torque) has giant and very sturdy horns. But price is 2 bucks more.
 boingk 257 points
With appropriate horns both servo and control surface you should have no problems with all but the most extreme 3D models. Try and use no more travel in regular flight than you have transmitter control - any excess indicates an over-stressed servo. Hope that helps. Cheers - boingk

 pejay 548 points
Thanks for the advices Enoch which are correct to some extend. But have you got this servo and seen the horns? They does not look to be able to take the full force of 9 kg and still it is not clear to me why the cheap version with plastic gears have much stronger horns. And it is not only how much the horns can carry. It is also a matter of flex. And if you use this servo for the rudder in a high speed boat, you need stronger horns. Same goes for an off road or racing car where you have a lot of force on the steering

how is the centering of this servo ?

the centering is not so bad.

Albert> As far as the centralized equals Futaba analog servos, ie manually each type of arm that is a position that put coencide the center, ie manually placing the arm and you will see that a one depeterminada location to stay in the center.

It's hard to beat the price/quality of this servo. One thing I like myself is that it comes with a long wire. 295mm or 11.5 inches long including the connector. It's not the fastest servo in the world, but it has lots of torque.

It has a little freeplay in the gears, but the torque is impressive even on 4.8V. The case is a little thin but great deal overall.

Valeu o risco!
