What is the difference between the 500GT-TT for $79.99 and the one for $89.95
 DarrenH 470 points
About $9.96 lol
 Kev The Rev 14 points
He He, one is belt drven and the other is a torque tube! :)
 DarrenH 470 points
The difference is that you are probably looking at the same model but in a different warehouse..***. the 500GT TT in Hong Kong and the excact same heli in another warehouse ie. Australian warehouse... with a little more on the price for shipping it a bit closer to you so you save on the postage as its in your country already.
 Justin 33 points
one is carbon frame... other aluminum

I wish people would reply to questions properly with a bit of knowledge, if Jay would look at the original question he would see that William is asking "what is the difference between the 500GT TT for $79.99 and the same one for $89.95". Stupid answers give other people the wrong info.
 Justin 33 points
thought he was referring to the 2 500 TT's in the Aus warehouse....

Has anyone actually answered William J's question? Okay, I'll re-frame the question. What is the difference between these two: (a) HK-500GT (TT) 3D Torque-Tube Electric Helicopter Kit (b) HK-500GT 3D Electric Helicopter Kit Also, what difference does a Torque-Tube make? Looking at the photos, the two look identical - what is the difference? Thanks all!

There is actually Four HK 500s on the Ausie Whouse list, two TT and two Belt. one TT has reinforced Plastic tail grips, Washout etc and alloy frame. The other, Alloy grips, Washout blah. and a CF Frame. The same goes for the two Belt Helis Except the Cheapest belt drive goes one step further and has a Reinforced plastic Pulley housing.

The Torque Tube (TT) is a shaft that runs down the tail boom to drive the tail rotor, belts have tension on the pinions which increase the resistance to drive the mechanics. The Torque Tube does not have this tension and will result in a more efficient flight resulting in better performance and flight time. This can be seen if you spin the rotor with your hand, a belt heli will do 6 revolutions to 30 for a TT.

Well guys, I have just destroyed my new one of these 500GT TT’s for the second time in a week. First time was on the maiden flight when the anti-rotation pin on the swash plate snapped off at about 8metres up, and today one off the tail rotor grip bolts just snapped and I think the rotor went thru one of the blades making a mess when it hit the ground. Also I have just noticed that the front tail drive bevel gear is only super glued to the shaft and not pinned, and as no backup spares are available with HK this is also a concern.
I have been flying 2 of these heli’s for about 16 months with the belt drive units with a upgraded metal tail rotor fitted at the start, and have had no real dramas than the normal check all is locktited, and you must keep oiling all tail bearing. So make sure you’re flying area is clear and safe before takeoff !!!!!

First one destroyed itself after only a few minutes of flight, not sure what went wrong but looking at the pieces the anti rotation pin was missing. Anyway built a second one and just low hovering and it started to creep forward with no input, upon checking the anti rotation pin the screw was just in by about 2 threads (very lucky). Plenty of thread lock on this now.
