Mi Digital High Speed Metal Gear Servo JR/Hitec 5.60kg / 0.04 / 61g

The HK Mi Series servos represent the next break through in high precision servo technology. Using Magnetic Induction, rather than a potentiometer, for an unsurpassed level of accuracy and performance.

Specs:
Voltage:
4.8v / 6v
Speed: 0.05sec/60-deg (4.8v) - 0.04sec/60deg (6.0v)
Torque: 4.5kg.cm (4.8v) - 5.60kg.cm (6v)
Size: 40.2mm x 20.1mm x 39.2mm
Weight: 61g
Gear Train: Full Titanium Alloy
Motor: Coreless

Mi : Magnetic Induction, uses a Magnetic Rotary Encoder in place of a traditional potentiometer (invented in 1877). Magnetic Rotary encoders have a longer life and suffer less wear.

what is the reliability of this? See a number of people saying they fail. Don't want my tail failing in flight.

I want to fit this servo in a GA250? what is the frequence for this servo?
 jakou31 153 points
Use 1520us / 333Hz for this servo with Assan GA-250 combo.
Vassil  13 points - 6/22/2011

What is the maximal frequency of working of that servo: 70, 250, 333 or 560Hz? What is the timing: 760, 960 or 1520us? I need that info to attach it to Assan GA250 gyro.

Thi first thing to ask is if this black edition has a metal casing, because otherwise it is identical to the red one, but the red is plastic case.

It has an alumimun heatsink around it, but the caseing is of plastic. I wouldnt recomend the servo at all. Get a servo for twise the price wich actually works, and wich is worth sending back for warenty clames. I cant use the warrenty on mine cos it will cost me 8 dollars more to send it back then just order a new one....

I am running this on 6 volts in my v-bar and I'm having 0 problems at all.
 Egg Man 27 points
Don't run these at over 280hz, the digital amplifier can handle the frequency (as per the specs on blue Arrow's website) but the servo's heat dissipation isn't enough to get rid of the excess heat and it will cook itself to death, especially if used on a gyro. Stay at 250hz and it's a good servo.
 Egg Man 27 points
Actually I take that back, they seem to run fine at 333hz with no overheating. It may depend on your gyro. I would try running it at 333hz and if it starts getting too hot drop down to 250hz YMMV

Got this servo and first impression is great. Use it for elevator at the moment and there its ultra fast, precise middlepoint without any overshooting. Perfect for all possible manouvers. Definitely first choice compared to other products specially for this price. Also much more expensive servos cant beat this servo.

Recived my servo a few days ago, but because of work I havent been able to test it until now and it was dead. The build quality isnt the best either, the shafts holding the gears are supported by the plastic top without any bushings and will probably wear rather fast and cause play with the high torque. Another thing I wasnt to fond of is that the servos dosent have an end to their rotation, and mine started to spin uncontrollably after a few seconds connected. So if you dont test it, or it some how fails when your out flying, at best it will rip off your controller arm, or you will have to land with one your controller surfaces at full. So my recomandation is: Stay clear, or order more then one incase one dosent work.

Just as fast as the S9254 tested with my JetiBox. Partly aluminium body. Almost no slop in the gear train. Long term testing is yet to be done.

Mine worked fine (on a HK500) for about 10 flights.
Then it gave up in flight - just did not respond at all.
The motor inside seems still powered, but does not turn servo arm - feels like something cracked inside. Maybe some missing teeth on the gears..
Will not buy any of these HK Mi servos again.

Just flew this servo on my 550E 3G. Couldn't ask for more from a tail servo, just amazing. Prior to this, with the DS620, I had wag in large heli mode on the gyro, had to set small heli mode to get rid of it. Now on large heli it's just solid with not even the slightest movement. Used the same arm and grommets, as the DS620, but had to raise the servo slightly, using a 1.5mm packer. Absolutely brilliant for the price!!!!!!!!!
