HobbyKing YAK 54 Brushless EPO Plug-n-Fly (DE Warehouse)

HobbyKing YAK 54 Brushless EPO Plug-n-Fly (DE Warehouse)

The YAK54 is a very neatly designed EPO 3D parkflyer. With smart features such as side-flip canopy for super fast battery & wing removal, 1 nylon bolt wing brace and unique rudder hinge system. This YAK54 doesnt borrow hinges or horns from the parts bin, its all totally new, resulting in a plane comprised of parts that work together better, reducing weight, increasing strength and ultimately making it a more enjoyable plane to fly and work with.
Because of its weight, the YAK54 only needs a very economic motor system, the 2408 sized brushless outrunner gives more than enough power on a 2S 1,000mAh battery. You dont need to buy expensive batteries to enjoy this plane, 20C is all thats needed!
The large control surfaces and quality included servos make this very 3D capable.
Wing moulding and fuse fit together perfectly with unique servo locations and you wont find any ice-cream container cowling here, its all EPO!

This is a well designed and totally new 3D parkflyer that wont dissapoint even hard core 3D pilots. Its scale details visiually appeal and are backed up by its flying ability!

hello can we cover the fuselage with Covering Film Solid Film
 Schorch 146 points
It is possible, but you´ll have to use a low temp on your covering iron. The covering film will not shrink with this temp, so you have to take much care to get it on the plane without crinkles. A little bit too hot - and the EPO will deform.

As Schorh said you can use covering film that HK sells, but i recomend self-adesiv and then use the iron with low temp to glue it weel in the plane and to not deform the EPO.

Sorry typo, should read AR6100 or AR6100e
 marco 2 points
Great! I've already got the Ar6100e for a trainer I'm currently building. I've decided to get the Orange receiver from HK. Can't be bothered keep changing receivers all the time. what do you think of the Orange receiver?
 gazza2101 5 points
Can't really comment, only had one and I got that second hand, it did lock out 2 or 3 times, but as I said it was second hand, so might have been in a crash befor I got it.

Hi I am farly new to this hobby, only tried a couple of cheap planes. Now it is time for a more proffesionel version. problem 1 find plane: x (this one) problem 2 find the rest.....??? Can anyone help me to find what i need to get this bird in the air....i start from scratch so i figure some battery, control, charger ect. but whitch ones??? help will be appreciated
 thaLX 5 points
Best thing about this plane is the fact that there isn't much needed to get it up in the air. I bought this plane a week ago, along with the following to get it up in the air: * Turnigy 1000mAh 2S 20C Lipo Pack (fits nicely inside the Yak54) * Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ receiver (need to cut out a little material to fit this receiver in the airplane) I already own a Lipo battery charger, but you can use every Lipo 2S/3S capable charger that has the standard JST-XH plug here on Hobbyking.

Prog DR and Expo auf alle Ruder. This Bird likes to fly fast and it ist hard to get the cg on the right position (get the Lipo in the Poleposition), prog your rx to DR and Expo to all. I convert my YAK totaly: throw away the Metallquader in the Nose, change to new Servos, carbonrod for Servomovement, 2S 1300er Lipo and a Turnigy 240
 Carsten 10 points

i have the banana wing
 Pierpaolo 4 points
I have banana wings (both) too but flies quite well. It's not so easy to handle. I repalced aileron central servo with one for each wing side and aerobatic improved a lot.

Hi There, Im looking for a small plane which I can take with me in my luggage... Size seems ok but question is where I need glue. It very difficult to deassembly airplain when You glued it... Anybody can explain where screws where use and when You had to glue... King Regards DAMIAN
 lonba 21 points
Hi Arcodavella, There is no glue and You will not have to use it. Screws are needed to attach the front and rear wings to the fuselage, it is very easy and reversible .. This is very nice and good looking plane and flies very nicely.. Greetings
 a.aniol@gmx.de 25 points
U can easyly disassemple the YAK into Wing, Body, Elevator & Rudder to put it in the shipped Carton for transport. Glue is not needed.

Have somebody try this whit a 3s 1000mAh battery?
 deej1 27 points
Would like to know that myself, as I have loads of 3s 1000mAh batteries sitting around. If it does, I'll have one ordered straight away.

Anyone?
 brett1984 124 points
hi ive tried with the 3 cell 1000mah battery had to cut the battery hatch slot a bit wider and flew for over 10 minutes it helped fly it in very windy conditions, it came down and the lipo was a bit warm, may be it could use a change of prop as i used the supplied three blader
 deej1 27 points
Sounds like a thumbs up. What prop would you use instead of the 3 prop?

How do you find the flying this model? Would you recommend it to someone who hasn't flown models for a good number of years?
 brett1984 124 points
this model is very twitchy at low speed so i would recommened it to a beginner but as youve flown before you should be ok,, maybe try a 10x6 gws prop
 Spookhol 6 points
Hello. Where on Hobbyking can i order extra props for this plane? Thankx....
 MiddyFra 3 points
ok I so wanted to try it with a 3S but all those I have had in my hands wouldn't fit in the battery slot under the canopy. So i chose the best 2S i could find and it flies great!! great plane great price!
 Jochen 1 points
As pepe stated in the review section, a 3S 1000mAh battery should be used in combination with a 8*6 propeller. With the 2S battery you will not get full 3d performance. Expecially the climb rate won't meet expectations with a 2S setup. Personally I haven't tried this setup so far but the statement sounds reasonable. There's a review on youtube stating the same.
 lonba 21 points
Nice plane, and very fast parcel, only two days, thx Hobbyking..
 Radaelli 8 points
 robot2o 1 points
....too heavy ... goes well with the 2s 1000mAh
 patchanka321 18 points

Bad points: wing have a negative bend, servos are really on the cheap side. good points: look is really cool, plane is really plug and fly, very visible. I'm trying to make the wing straight removing the negative bend, then I will try the first flight. not really satisfied til now.

For me it's very nice plane, very good looking. Foam is sleek. I was flying with 1000mah 2s it was quite nice, but when I put in 1000mah 3s... WOW! The plane is much heavier on the nose, but the power is great..

Nice plane which is easy to fly. The gear is not very stable (Im flying without) and unfortunately there isnt much space for the receiver.
The 800 and 1000mAh zippys fit perfectly into the battery slide. A spare prop and spinner is included.

It's also suitable for beginners if you put some DR on the aileron and elevator.

If you want to do some acro increase the servo travel and have fun! :)
