Hi I have an mjx f45 so please can someone tell me if this motor is powerfull enough for mjx f45 and what is best pinion for it thanks'
 WTWUK 1364 points
Seems the common brushless motor used as an upgrade for the F45 is the HK EH200 4100KV motor - Product ID EH200-4100. This little 3500KV one may be far too small and slow.
SINGH09  7 points - 4/2/2013

The motor didnt come with any screws to mount on the heli.. i have a hk 250gt.. and when i put the thicker screws they are touching the coil after snugging... can smone suggest me the proper screws for this motor..??
 WTWUK 1364 points
M3 x 6mm. I also put a washer under each screw head and locktite the threads. If you have used longer screws that hit the coils, make absolutely sure they are not damaged.
 SINGH09 7 points
no no i just saw that its about to touch the Coil, so i didnt go further and removed the screws... the motor is all fine.. i just need to change the screws.. thnx for help.. :)
 donaldsnephew 152 points
This is a wrong information - the motor does not need M3 screws. At least the actual version - I have ordered M3 screws from Hobbyking with the motor - but they do NOT fit. They are too large in diameter. M2 is too small. Seems to need M2.5 or something similar. I get crazy - have hundred of screws from my microhelis here, no screw fits. HK 250-GT screws also do not fit. Does someone know, if it is M2.5?
 SINGH09 7 points
recieved my order just now.. and very dissapointed!! not with anything else but the suggested M3x6mm screws didnt fit the motor.. :( the screws are thicker in diameter.. now i need to find a new set of screws for this motor...
 WTWUK 1364 points
My apologies - my error. The screws are M2.5 x 6 that I use. I confused this motor with another I get elsewhere. Many apologies.
 donaldsnephew 152 points
Hope those will fit: www.link today, but do not want to wait again for weeks ;) Have to buy some elsewhere locally, no M2.5 screws in my house - a lot of M2 and M3, but not M2.5 ;)
 SINGH09 7 points
Ya i just cant wait for 3-4 more weeks to get theose screws.. i'll see if i can get something similar to M2.5 here locally...
 donaldsnephew 152 points
Me not either. Now I am really angry. Have searched for probably one hour at home and in my office for 2.5 screws, have disassembled several old stuff, ... no 2.5. Have been at three tool shops near around my home this afternoon, none of them has M2.5 screws, only M2 and M3. Have to go to a special screw shop at the other end of the city to buy these screws, if I do not wanna wait for two - 4 weeks till my shipment from HK arrives. Thats so stupid - Hobbyking, why dont you ad the information about screws needed for mounting to the item description?
 WTWUK 1364 points
Hang on a sec - I have just pulled out one of the HK-250's I have here - and in the bag with the pinion are the motor mounting screws. Do you not have them in your kit?
 donaldsnephew 152 points
Hmm... did not find them - do even have a spare screw set for HK250. Will search again when at home in the evening...
 WTWUK 1364 points
Yep. Just checked a couple more - and a few CopterX FBL and FB 250's (same as HK250 in all but canopy and colour) and those also have the screws in the pinion packet. I do not recall them ever being too long, but if they are, pack out with washers or cut the length down.
 SINGH09 7 points
i also didnt find any spare screw with my hk 250 gt kit.. :( i'll search at some tools and hardware shops in the city 2marrow.. lets see if i find
 donaldsnephew 152 points
Wow - now I have to apologize *) Checked it - a pair of those 2.5 mm screws is included to the HK 250GT set - but extra packed *) Did not find them in my scews-box, and I could not find any 2.5 mm screws in the spare set of HK 250, either, only 2 mm. Stupid me, running around and searching in vain. I will use those meanwhile, thus they do not look very good. After receiving the M2.5 from Hobbyking with lense-head, I will use those.
 WTWUK 1364 points
Were they in the brass gear pinion packet? Or a different one? My 250's have been kicking about for over a year now, so packaging may have changed? If the screws you found are the same as mine, they are black Hex socket heads and actually very good quality.
 SINGH09 7 points
hey.. which one... there are 2.5 mm screws in the packet(extra), but aren't they too long.. i mean its touching the coil inside ... as mentioned above... :\
 donaldsnephew 152 points
I guess, they have been in the pinion packet* cant say anymore, they were rolling around "loose" in my "big HK 250GT box" (but not in the screw box inside). No - I tested, they are not too long. They fit fine.
 SINGH09 7 points
are u using washers???
 donaldsnephew 152 points
I will - did not mount the motor yet (was searching for screws till now *) ). But the screws will not touch the motore wires on the stator even if I screw them into the motor without motor mount (so only motor and screws inside). Cannot understand your problem - with motor-mounting-plate inbetween (screw and motor) this will not be a problem at all.
 SINGH09 7 points
than how cum mine are touching the coil inside.. with motor mounting plate.. its not penetrating though its jus touching the coil slightly.. but dont wanna take risk... i'll put washers in between and than i'll try tommarw.. its sleeping time nw here.. :p anyways thanx for the support you two... i might ask something else 2marrw .. :p
 donaldsnephew 152 points
Hmm - checked it again, screws fully screwed into the motor, without mounting plate, without shim - no problem, screws do not touch anything??? Different kind of screws?

hi, i have an mjx f45, is this motor powerful enough for my heli, and where can i find a 10t pinion cause this motor has a 2.5 shaft. only available is 2.3mm... many thanks......
appniko  8 points - 3/8/2013

...finally i made a 3mm shaft from the bar , taken from the old cd rom. Works well, and now there is no problem to find an adapter. target=_blank>heli_motor2508
 appniko 8 points
ooohhh.... look in "Files" section if interest.
 WTWUK 1364 points
What diameter is the propeller shaft? 3mm?
 appniko 8 points
2.5mm - measured by micrometer.
 WTWUK 1364 points
That is the motor shaft which I know is 2.5mm as I have lots of them here - I asked what diameter is the propeller shaft? Reason being is that there are adapters already available for 2.5mm motor shafts for various prop hole diameters that only cost a couple of $ or so.
 appniko 8 points
I understand =) My adapter outer diameter is 5 mm. I dont now , why in specification of motor there is still "Diameter of shaft: 2.3mm"/ My motivation is that at the time the order was not clear what actually adapter suitable for this motor. So I decided not to wait for 23 days (the time of delivery to Ukraine) and converted it into what is needed =) 2.5mm adapter still were not available for a long time(backorder).

You can use it, but it is overkill. A 25amp would be adequate.

hello guys, this engine with a 3S overheats a lot?
 Gary 2962 points
It does state it is for 2s,only thing you can try is gearing it down by putting a lower tooth pinion on the motor.
 WTWUK 1364 points
No it should not overheat on 3S on a 250 class heli with standard pinions. I use these a lot (actually built one and flew it today for three packs of 800mAh 3S 35C cells one after the other) and have never had any heat problems. Bear in mind, this is a direct replacement for the Align T-Rex 250 heli motor. So 3S is no problem at all.

Anyone know the size of the connectors that comes with the motor. They only give you the male connector need to know the size to get the female connector. Thanks

It runs great. Be carefoul whit the ESC. I use the HobbyKing Red Brick 30A ESC, and work really great. I use them in my HK250 and have no problems.
 tommy2toes 2085 points
it is better than stock ive had 50 plus flights still preforms like day one i love this one! but i also use the hobbyking blue 30amp/3bec esc you really should than you can use 3cell. thats what i did so you know. otherwise its rated as a 2cell motor but it pushes 3cell perfectly.

absolutly yes it will. we have had more fun with this motor on the little park jet with a plush 30amp and a 4.5 by 4.5 e prop. it burys the 100mph mark. i am shaking but man its fun it handles like a dream and tracks perfectly. with a steady razor you can put rudders on. they should have more within thirty days they are worth the wait. click email when this item is in stock its a button located below buy it now. they are good about imedeite notification of items to the waiting customers. this is a new motor for that jet so they have just begun they will order alot more before we all have one. hope i helped in some way have fun fly high. tommy

Anyone know which size of bullet connector comes preinstalled on this motor? Also,is the stock 15T pinion gear that comes with the 250GT kit a good match for this motor on 3S?If not, what is then?
 jamespal 13 points
I have read on other fourums this is a direct replacement for motor included in the Align 250. This includes the shaft diameter and bullet connectors.
The HK website says this is a 2.3 MM shaft. The second review posting states it is actually 2.5 MM and the included pinion will fit. I have one on order for the HK250GT. I should know soon.

Pinion is excellent match - have built three recently and sm building another today with the same motor. Connectors are 2.5mm Excellent little helis.
 Turbobeaver 1336 points
Thanks guy's.Will the 15T pinion give me excessive head speed on a motor rated at 3500KV running on 3S?Also,does this motors shaft come notched already to prevent slippage of the pinion gear?
 Noobie 69 points
Works fine and you just turn it down on the transmitter throttle curve if it's too much. I run this on 3s and it gets hot, but still working fine. The shaft is not notched. You can use a dremel to make it. It just needs a little bit. Without the notch it will eventually just spin.
 Turbobeaver 1336 points
Thanks Noobie. What size and brand of ESC are you running with this motor?Any idea as to what amps you are pulling with this motor mounted on the HK-250?Still up in the air as to which way to go on the ESC without going overkill on requirements and weight.Any recommendations guy's?
 Noobie 69 points
****
 Noobie 69 points
Not sure what it's pulling but I have both the 18 and 30amp targethobby esc's. Just try to match the motor amp to an esc so you don't have to go overboard and save some money. I think 20 or 25amp will be more than enough. I like the size of this motor but it gets hot on 3s since it asks for 2s batteries. Works fine though.
 Noobie 69 points
By the way, I don't know how people used the 2mm plugs. I had to use 3mm plugs instead on both escs. It would be nice to use 2mm, but the esc wires are just too big.

1. Am I going to be able to easily mount this thing on my quadcopter? 2. How can I make this work with a 1/4" diameter prop?

 skyromaniac 10 points
Thanks (I'm new to this so I need all the help I can get) What about the HK donkey? Or do you have any other suggestions?
 Technologeek73 15 points
First, you have to take into account the size of your quadcopter (to fit the props accordingly). The you have to estimate your total flying weight, so that you can choose a motor/esc/prop/battery combo that will provide enough power to make your quad hover at 50% throttle. It can be really hard for a beginner, that's why I strongly advise you to check the HK forums where your response will be answered *) you will even learn a lot of stuff :)
 skyromaniac 10 points
Ok, I'll check it. Thanks for all your help.
 victorhuge 34 points
Yeah, do not use this on a quadcopter, get something like the dt750 motors as they have low kv (low rpm per volt) which means greater efficiency by using a larger prop and more control (each step on an esc produces a smaller change vs high kv which produces higher rpm changes per move of the stick)
Noobie  69 points - 3/14/2012

Can someone point me to what esc I can use with this motor? I want to use it on the 250gt heli but don't know what 20,25 or 30amp esc has the plugs to fit this thing. I'm also looking for an 11 or 12 tooth gear. Please post the links if you have any as I bought two other gears that don't quite fit. Wrong ones to be exact.
 sonnydc 117 points
You can use any 30 amp esc. Like SKU: F-30A, SKU: RB30-ESC or SKU: MY30ABEC. You will also need to some 2mm Gold Connectors (SKU: AM1002A)for the plugs.
They are showing the HK-250GT Pinion Gear 15T (PRODUCT ID: GT250-149) as a match to this motor.
I hope this helps.
 Dazacx2 26 points
Turnigy AE-30A Brushless ESC is the esc i got for the same motor and heli. Just need to order the connectors and solder them on. I look at all the comments and discussions most people will put there set ups on there. Good luck
 Noobie 69 points
Thanks guys. I didn't want to redo the 30amp esc I already have, but I guess I'll just change the plugs on the motor since I really don't see any specific for this small motor and can use what I already have. I just didn't want to do this, but I may as well use it. I just need to add a flat on the shaft for the set screw as the gear just turns even with the set screw as is.
 The General - x5 139 points
Any 20 amp will do, use 2mm bullet connectors as this is what the motor also has.
 elgusanobi2008 65 points
I recommend 40 amp esc
 Turbobeaver 1336 points
40A ESC is overkill for this motor.According to the specs, the maximum current that this motor can take is 27 A.A light weight 25-30A ESC is all you really need on a HK-250.

Hi everybody * I want to make a quadrocopter . Is this motor correct motor ? Is this a right choise ?
 Hoovernaut 122 points
I think this one is more for small helicopters. Too much kV. Or what kind of quad do you want to build?
 The General - x5 139 points
Nope. Quads motors use motor to prop direct you will need lower kv rating motors.
Scott  234 points - 3/4/2012

has anyone tried a 5x5 prop?? how many amp's on 3s??
 Hoovernaut 122 points
Have no answer for the prop. but a 200W motor can draw 16A at 12,6V (3S)
 The General - x5 139 points
I got 13.9 amps on that prop I don't think this motor goes up to 200 watts as stated...
 sonnydc 117 points
I just tested mine with a 4.5x4.5 on 3s and it draws more than 30amps. The motor heats up quickly. Then I tested the 4.1x4.1 prop and it draws around 25 amps. If youre going to use a 5x5 on 3S then the motor will overheat.
 David 5 points
How are you able to add a prop to this motor?. The only size prop adapters I could find are either too big or too small (2.3mm or 3mm, I can't find a 2.5mm to fit the shaft). Is there any 2.5mm prop adapters or collets you can point me to?
 sonnydc 117 points
The 2.3mm shaft adapter is ok. What I did is I removed the old shaft and mounted a 3mm shaft in reverse position or you could just reverse mount the old shaft.
victorhuge  34 points - 2/20/2012

Can anyone confirm that the shaft is 2.3mm? I bought a 2.3mm pinion and had a lot of headaches getting it to fit, it was obviously too small for the shaft. The stock pinion claims to be 2.5mm and that fit perfectly...

sounds impossable mr.Sonnydc as the shaft is 2.5mm how exactly did you replace it with a 3mm shaft since its way to big? i reversed mine and made a c-clip ring on the opposite end.

What size plugs does this motor use? I don't see anything on the specifications. I have a 450 esc but I have a feeling those are too big even though it's a 30amp esc.
 fats flyer 103 points
Hi,this motor has 2mm connectors on it.theres no reason why tou cant take them off and put the same size connectors on thats on your 450 esc.hope this helps.
 Noobie 69 points
Thanks, but I checked and this is smaller than the 450 so I want to get an esc that has the 2mm plugs if I can find a cheap one. Unfortunately I don't know which esc has the correct plugs for this motor.
 fats flyer 103 points
whatever esc you buy,you will have to solder your own plugs to it.some come with gold connectors some dont.i always fit all my electrical items with the same size gold connector so they can interchange with ant combo i want.this is a standard practice that many people here make.hope this helps
 fats flyer 103 points
forgot to mention,a 30 or 35amp esc will be fine and as regards to your question further up regarding a pinion, you'll have to use the one supplied with the kit or the one listed for the 250 as it needs to be a 0.4m pinion.to adjust the headspeed ,do it through the transmitter
 Noobie 69 points
Thanks, that's a ***mer. I thought there may be a smaller tooth gear. I did buy the 14 but the shaft size is too small and the shaft doesn't have a flat on this motor. The included gear tends to slip around. I heard some people using a smaller 20 amp esc which I thought would be okay since the 30amp seems physically a bit too big. I'll look around locally and see what I can find. Even the 3mm plugs will be too big on this motor as I was checking them on there yesterday. Hence the reason I was looking for a different esc.
 tommy2toes 2085 points
it comes with 2mm plugs. i cut them and put on the 3.5mm running 4.5 by 4.5 prop and 30amp esc 3amp bec its a perfect combo for the park jet mine has not got hot yet. i only carry 500mah 3s great flght times less weight faster awsome fun. hope you are out flying soon, tommy

How can I get the shaft come out the other side of the motor?
 Kellyann 16220 points
Bacter well you need to undo the grub screw. Remove any c clip. Lift the outer case form the motor. Then carefully drift with a brass drift, the shaft to where you wont it. I hope this helps.

I use a vise and socket wrenches as a press to push the shaft out or in as needed. A knock at the beginning helps to confirm the shaft is "free". Make sure the shaft indentions are aligned properly.

Got this for my HK250. Stock 250 pinion fits on the shaft. Looks like a well made motor and "feels" powerful and efficient. No balancing of the bell needed. My bearings were not perfect resulting in a loud high pitched whine. Am flying with it now but will replace bearings soon.

Every thing is the same as the stock Align 250 moter, such as the dimension, shaft diameter. It is a direct replacement for the above, and works on 3S well and similar performance as the stock. But only paid 1/3 of the price, excellent deal.

I am running it on 1000mah 3s nano-tec 30A ESC 4.1x4.1 and it reads 31A. Motor is cool on landing. Perfect for the parkjet.

Perfect for the HK250 with the available pinion gear combo - could not be better.

An excellent match for the HK250.
running on 3S 800mAh Zippys.

If anything the motor has a slightly too high a KV however and although it could be cos i'm still using the dreadful plastic blades I have to have the throttle curves down to 85pcnt max or it's simply too unstable with that high a headspeed. Could perhaps use a 14T pinion but it seems difficult to find alternate pionions with a .4 MOD and 3mm shaft. Hope that helps.
