Gday guys, I recently purchased and recieved m F9F from the Australian Warehouse. Just a query here... i have read on a feew forums that the INRUNNER motor in the F9F has a tendency to get very hot and some guys have reported it burning itself outr or melting the fan,, sometimes ery soon in its career. I know there are some versions that are outrunners and some inrunners* has anyone here been on the inrunner as stock? and if so what have your experiences been? Some say to replace wth a 4000 or 4300 outrunner but I dont want to if not necesarry. Thanks for any replies
A little late probably, but the one a friend bought recently from HK has a decent outrunner installed and has no problems running flat out. I have an earlier version (not a hobbyking one, bought from the LHS) which had an inrunner that burnt out on the third flight.
I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say there Kellyann. I never mentioned foam safe CA although that should be fine. I never said it was EPO either, because mine's EPS. I tested mine with a bit of thin CA in an out of the way spot and it melted. So, to be clear. It is E P S. NOT E P O. Do not use ordinary CA glue on it. You should be fine if you use Foam Safe CA. I played it safe and used epoxy on mine though.

Sorry Kellyann. I think we've both somehow been confusing each other. If the foam was EPO or EPP you could use any type of CA glue on it. If it's EPS (expanded pollystyrene) like the packing foam things come in then ordinary CA glue will melt it. The foam safe glue should be fine on EPS though. There's no need to use foam safe CA glue on EPO or EPP though since none of the CA glues attack those types. If in doubt play it safe and roughen the surface and use epoxy. Lately I've been getting great results with EPO using shoe goo. It sticks realy well and can flex with the foam so no cracking. I haven't tried it on EPS though so no idea if it'll attack it.
Sawdust thankyou for taking time. I got glue like shoe goo (contact) with one of my planes and it melted a big hole in it where there was no paint. I have tried CA (Non foam safe) on EPO, EPP and EPS(the cheap one) and EDF ha(electric ducted fan) and it has melted all 3. So are you saying (MAYBE) they are all EPS??.
If the CA glue melts the foam then it's almost certainly EPS. It can (for me at least) to tell the difference between EPO and EPS just by sight. EPP is distictly different and can be identified fairly easily just from the pictures, for 1 thing it never has as smooth a surface as the other 2 can have. Handy hint No: 1. If you can't find what kind of foam a model is anywhere on the product page it's most likely going to be EPS. If it's EPO or EPP they like to advertise the fact. If it's EPS they wont usualy mention it as it's not exactly a good selling point. EPS does have 1 advantage in that it's lighter, but I'd prefer to have the slightly heavier EPO any day.
Buy the V70 and take it down to the club, they will soon tell you to bring the Panther back and go as hard as you like *) Seriously though, your club must be fairly picky as I have heard a lot louder and most clubs no probs - are you close to built up area though? Maybe fly this one on your own somewhere and go flat out!

He's suposed to be an f-18 pilot so his getup I guess isn't totaly authentic but he still looks realy good and is the right size.

Um no, sorry. I was just trying to help guide anyone looking for a bit of realism to the same part I took a chance on that fits absolutely perfectly and looks great in place.
Try the AUS HOBBYKING site if not try the HK one again because i had the same sort of problems this morning ordering the F-86 Sabre,in the end i had to sign out and sign back in a couple of times before i could order it *-)hope this helps.
Why is it still cheaper to by from china and get it shipped to sydney than buying from NSW location and getting it sent to sydney?

Using the cheapest shipping options, postage is $15.00 more expensive from China. The model itself is only $11.74 more expensive from Aus. So, you're $3.26 better off buying from here. To add to that, you have a further 5321 grams of weight remaining in the package from Aus. You thus effectively get free postage with any parts/other planes you purchase from the Aus warehouse in the same transaction. (up to the 7Kg total that is).
Even for the models that are more expensive (shipping inc.) to buy from the Aus warehouse, you'll find that it will be only a few dollars in most cases. Even then, it will work out cheaper if you are buying multiple items in the same shipment. Shipping is of course quicker, since the items are in Oz, and have already passed customs.
Yeah, you are right. I must have miscalculated somewhere. It is slightly cheaper. Good point about the shipping weight.
Lets hope they stock a good range of batteries, servos etc so we can make use of it.
when will the great aussie warehouse be stocking more stuff like batteries motors etc? I can't wait to take advanatge of the cheapest prices in the world with cheap as chips postage!!
What is the deal with Australian pricing, all the prices are raised and is US dollars...granted we save on postage but the price at the end of the day weather it be shipped from Australia or Asia is pretty much the same...what is the point of the Aust warehouse?????
This is good value .I made a few modifications to this model,and it a good flying model. I used 0.5 oz glass cloth on the underside of the Fuz & L/E of the wings to help protect the foam.I mounted the R/X in the cockpit area and sprayed in inside dark grey I also mounted a Skid/Launch grip out of 3mm ply in the fuz and enlarged the inside of the Bat box to take a 2250 ma pak .6.5min flight flat chat,only & only 3.5min with recommended bat Good Lu

So far I've been slightly disappointed with this model - but some of that could be a hang over from the fact that HK only provided 2 of the 6 batteries I ordered and paid for.
The instructions for this model are written in the usual, non-detailed, non-sensical way, but this is a relatively simple model to assemble. Assembly can be completed in around an hour. You will need to drill out the control horns slightly to fit the push rods, and I suggest you have a very small drill bit to do so. None of my standard bits were small enough. I had to refit the Y-lead for the ailerons so that they were entirely in the channel provided (they're fitted out of the box, but when plugged into the wings there is a bit of slack).
The servo's all seemed to work fine with smooth and reliable movement, until the motor was run up. At about 20pcnt throttle all the controls on the model began to glitch horribly. After some testing I found that the BESC is not providing enough voltage/current to the receiver and a range check will have the model glitching at around 2m. Oddly, pushing the throttle further will see the glitching cease. I will be replacing the BESC with a 30A I have here that I know works.
Using the 1300mAh 3S 20-30C battery pack that I ordered from the Aus Warehouse (where's my other 3 HK?) I measured 24.6A at 100pcnt throttle. The EDF produces quite a bit of thrust and a HEA

goes together easily servos ok 1300 turnigy battery fits easily Plenty of power will climb vertical an excellent edf sounds nice but watch the battery run it gives out without warning resulting in instant stall

No complaints with the model, looks great, especialy now I've got my little pilot als ordered from HK sitting in the cockpit. My only complaint is that HK have been putting xt60 conectors on their batteries and encouraging us to forget those horrible expensive deans which they don't sell for some time and after finaly bighting the bullet and changing all my stuff over to xt60s what do you think this thing had soldered onto its speed control. Yep you guessed it, a bloody deans plug. WHAT THE HELL HK, talk about confuse a bloke. Get your act together and be consistant.

hi all, bought one of these from HK Aus, only took a couple of days to get it and some Lipo's, no problems to put it together, I didnt use the wheels, so I took the nose steering out, modified the battery bay to take an 1800 3 cell lipo, goes like the clappers, but will fly very slow as well, quite stable, big loops, vertical performance is very good, I hand launch holding it just at the intakes and about half power. I have had about 10 flights so far, very happy with it, I dont think the Speedie has a low voltage cut out. I have put just over 1800 into the packs, I set the timer for 5 mins, seems to be good at various speeds.
very nice to fly, looks good, about 5mm travel on the elev, 10 on the ailerons, C of G about 35mm back from the L/E.
