What would the range be on this ?? also what definition is the camera and what power supply do i use for the ground stations ? Thanks in advance ~ olly

Mine arrived in the mail the other day, I corrected the camera wires so the video and positive lined up correctly, but all I get is a black and white static picture that flashes on the tv for a second then disappears. I've flipped through all the channels on the rx, then flipped through all of the switches on the tx. Tried 3 tv's, and tried it at a park to make sure it wasn't other interference. Anyone have any ideas? i'd hate to have to return it...
 Jake 3 points
I had the same problem with mine they say to send it back if you've tried everything, checked antennas, power is right voltage, and channels are set right.

Thank you roger. flitetest has a GREAT video on this. and as for you link there is a lot of good info. yes I am just getting into fpv as I live at the beach and would love to just fly my plane out a good bit to see things. thanks again I will be picking this up as my First system and as I get used to it I will be using my gopro. no since hooking it up just to damage it lol thanks again.

ok so what else would I need to get into fpv? is this it? can anyone help me to an article on what I need to set this up thanks
 Roger 2273 points
If your really new then you need a lot more reading first. This is a good place to start. "www . fpvuk . org" jst remove the spaces as hobbyking doesn't like posting links to other sites.

Is it a F type connector on the receiver or SMA? SMA on TX?
FedeVI  16 points - 3/29/2013

what good antenna I can buy from Hobbyking for this? thanks
 FedeVI 16 points
and anyone can suggest me any cable that I can use / modify to power the Rx with a 3S battery?
 RC Flyer Guy 130 points
Sorry, Hobbyking doesn't sell any 900MHZ antennas. I don't know about the power cable because I haven't gotten mine yet. When I do in about two weeks, I will tell you if nobody else replies by then.
RC Flyer Guy  130 points - 3/13/2013

Let's say I have two items on backorder and one comes in stock. If it goes out of stock and then the other one comes in stock, my order would ship because the first one got reserved. Right? Just wondering.
 Roger 2273 points
Yes you're right, your order will be filled once the stocks arrived. But be sure to check with the CS so you get prioritized, if there is a very high demand your order could get left behind. Nagging the CS always works. :)

Why not try and add it to your cart. :). I think there is no restriction for bangladesh.

what is a good osd for these one?
 RC Flyer Guy 130 points
Usually any OSD can go with any FPV system so it depends what your looking for. If you just want a simple OSD, get the Mini OSD. If you want Return To Home Function, get the Hobbyking OSD. Mini OSD:074000204 Hobbyking OSD: APAC-KIT-GPS

I just received mine yesterday and had no video. Turns out the camera was wired backwards. To fix this simply pop off the white plastic clip on the back of the camera with a knife, flip it around, and push it back on. If you are not sure if your's is backwards check if the red wire is going to the terminal on the camera board.

what range did you get on this setup ? and what do you cnnect it to ? screen ?
leucadian  6 points - 12/18/2012

It turns out that the problem, on SOME cameras, is that the white plastic clip that allows the wires to attach to the camera was assembled UPSIDE DOWN. This reverses the order of the wiring. To insure that you have the camera wired correctly to the transmitter, look for the correct output markings on the cameras printed circuit board. If reversed, you can carefully remove the white wiring retainer from the board (only the part jutting out from the board), and then reverse it so the wiring polarity is in the correct orders where black is negative, red is positive, and white or yellow is video.

why is mine not working
 Laxmikant 533 points
wat did u do?
leucadian  6 points - 11/29/2012

Please note that the prewired connectors provided with this configuration are wired INCORRECTLY. The leads coming out of the TRANSMITTER are: Black - Negative (ground) Red - Positive Yellow - Video The leads coming out of the CAMERA are: Black - Negative (ground) White - Positive ** hook this up to the positive battery lead and the red lead coming out of the transmitter - note: this is not the usual color scheme Red - Video ** hook this up to the yellow lead coming out of the transmitter To add to the confusion, the connector that is provided to hook up to the transmitter should connected as follows: Transmitter Black ** Connector Black Transmitter Red ** Connector Red Transmitter Yellow ** Connector Yellow Then, the leads that come out of the transmitter connector harness cable should be hooked to the camera like this: Connector Lead Black ** Camera Lead Black Connector Lead Red ** Camera Lead White Connector Lead White ** Camera Lead Red Until you do this corrected wiring, the setup will not work. Hope this helps you to avoid the aggravation that I had.
 Copter Cop 10 points
WARNING!! the above is incorrect. I just checked mine and the wiring by default was correct. May be his came miswired from the factory. Donot go plugging your video lead in to your positive without double checking. This is how some people just mislead others for no concrete reason.

what is the sequence for all the plugs!?!?! I'm not plugging anything in until I know what color goes where...

can i use my gopro Hero HD with this FPV setup?
 Arduinonator 100 points
Yes, you have to connect the digital output wire in the goPro and trim down the black, white and yellow if you want audio And re solder the wires to the extra pese you got From the goPro yellow to white, from the goPro white to yellow and black to black and also connect red and black from the transmitter (on the fpv gear) to the battery. :)

How do you call the antenna connector on the rx and tx ? I have two antennas with sma connectors on them (smaller). I need an adapter. Thanks
 mxclouti 25 points
After all, the connector is the same on the tx and rx. It's a sma connector.

What is the advantage of buying a 1000mw Transmitter (which is more extensive) instread of a 200mw???
 Arduinonator 100 points
I think you get longer range or better quality
 beezlebub 226 points
1000mw is 5 times the power of the 200mw, but one strange thing about wireless transmissions is that to double the range you have to quadruple the power. so the 1000mw version will not get 5 times the range of he 200mw, but will get more like 2.5x the range. also remember, it's better to increase range with better antennas rather than more power, as more tx power will cause more interference on your r/c system.
Jairus  3 points - 9/27/2012

What do I need to Power this system? Is there better antenna for this? Thank you
 NotDeadYet 198 points
Camera, tx and rx all use 12V (more or less). I use a 3 cell lipo on both ends and it works great. There are of course better antenna, but the included will work ok out of the box. If this is your first FPV system I would worry about antenna until getting some experience close in anyway.

what is the range of this thing?
 mena142 740 points
It depends A LOT on your specific setup and fliying place, but you can check RCModelReview's (YouTube) test on this stock setup, where he took it to over 2KM ( 1mile)

Anyone know if the Video Receiver has an RSSI voltage port I can tap into internally? I know the PAL version does, but not sure about this one.
 mena142 740 points
Yes it has one. Do a Google search for "hobby king fpv 900mhz rssi" and it should be the first link (A RCGroups post). I don't post the link here becasue HK deletes all links.
Roy  20 points - 6/4/2012

Just got this unit. Swap the Red and White wires in the camera connector. It works but so much interference, it almost can't see at all. I have to place both Tx and Rx in very specific ways in order to get the signal. Anyone knows why? Please help?????
 mena142 740 points
These antennas are polarized, meaning they both need to be on the same orientation (vertical or horizontal). That being said, polarization only becomes a problem at some distance, not close by, so there must be something wrong with your system. This system has different channels, be sure to have both on the same channel.
 Roy 20 points
Thanks for the reply mena142. However, I kinda disagree. How could my plane fly in a same orientation all the time to match the Rx antenna. Here is a bit detail of the situation. The Rx and Tx start off receive all signal and show good video, but it only last about 1-2 min. Do you think it is wiring issue, my house surrounding noise or power supplies to the Rx and Tx? Any advise would help!!!!!
 mena142 740 points
Taking into account that it gets worse with time, I should be either a heating problem or a problem with your battery. Try using a different 3S lipo to run your transmitter and use a 12v power plug for your receiver. If it works, then you should change your batteries. If it's a heating problem, I don't know what you could do to fix it for good : /
Sam  12 points - 4/29/2012

what is the best tx channel/rx channel for this unit? i cant seem to get this unit to work
 mena142 740 points
The best channel to use really depends on your enviroment, and what frequencies are the most crowded. I use CH2 on my setup and It has given me great results. The way I decided on that was simply by testing each channel for noise and range.

got a DOA and no response from hobby king. Buying one of these is a gamble, if its a good unit you got lucky... if its bad don't think for one second hobby king will swap it out for a good one.

Is this system legal for use in the US?
 mena142 740 points
It's legal from Ch1 up (Ch 0 is close to a frequency used in aviation). Also 200mW is quite low and standard.
 grwarlock 7 points
Hello, In the USA the use of 900 mhz transmissions require you to have a HAM Tech. license or above. There not hard to get now as the code part for tech. has been dropped. Just simple theory. 902-928 mhz chart link is here. www.link
Alexander  1 points - 4/14/2012

Is it possible to have two of these on a single aircraft? Also, what kind of viewing devices is everyone using as an alternative to goggles? What's the difference between 200mW and 1500mW? Thanks for answering my long list of questions, Alex
 mena142 740 points
In theory you could have more than 1 Video Transmitter at a time but on different channels, but In practice they interfere too much with each other, so no, not more than 1 of each frequency (You could have a 5.8ghz and a 900mhz at the same time). I use a portable LCD screen (I do plan on buying goggles). I works great, you can find them easily on eBay, but I do suggest you find one at least 7" big. The mW is the power of the transmitter. It stands for miliWatts. 1500mW will give far more range

Unit arrived in good condition with all necessary hardware. Pre-made wiring makes installation a no brainer. During initial testing unit gives respectable range. So-Far so good.
