This has risen in price and not made as good as the K&S tool which it tries to copy. Allow for exchange rate then high post rate because of overweight, it costs only a few dollars more to get the better K&S product. Is it still worth this price?
I have been very pleased with my bender. However, I did not pay this price presently listed. True, by the time you add postage etc you are paying well over US$20 to land this item. Chances are that you can get the genuine K&S minibender locally for only a touch more. And you will get after sales service non-existent with HK mail order pay in advance. Mind you, there are some folk without access to alternatives, this might still be worth it to them. Perhaps HK needs to truly stick to what made it so successful - good products at much cheaper prices.
This is a very simply and useful tool. This type has been around you many years. My Grand Father hap one. It used leverage to make bending simple and easy. There since the effort is reduced it is much easier to do a fair better job.
Answer. Check out the HK photo of the unit placed in a vice. That's pretty much it. You unscrew the domed bolt to the thickness of your wire and hook it underneath the dome so it won't jump upwards ass you bend. You place the wire across the other peg and then use the handle in either direction to produce a bend to the angle you require. Do a test. You will find that you can precisely locate the wire so that your bend is exactly where you want it. You can easily remove and hold against a plan to ensure that the bend angle is exact. Very convenient and easy. Much better price than the K&S original. If HK make a larger size (K&S have two sizes - this one is equivalent to the mini bender), I'll be in for one of those too!
I forgot - check the postage. If item price and postage converts close to your local price for the K&S Mini Bender then go local so that you can access support and follow up. I would purchase this ONLY if it is significantly cheaper than your local supply of the original design. In NZ there was a reasonable saving when I made my purchase, so other Kiwis might like to take a look.
Very nice. Asked and answered. So there is not much I can do for you is there. But to say I do agree. If you reduce the effort in doing a job it is much easier to get it right the first time. Very Good
Just like the well known K&S mini wire bender. Works the same way. Adaptable, within the size ranges advised. If HK ever stocks the equivalent of the larger wire bender and coil maker (up to 1/4 inch) from the same manufacturer, I will be happy to place another order.
